He also worked with other top directors at the time- the 'celebrated' Anurag Kayshap (they had massive all-time disaster Bombay Velvet) with his bro, Abhinav K (Besharam- another disaster movie) and so on- and the best musicians, cinematographers, editors, coreographers,set designers etc etc ? And OFC Hirani?
So why only mention SLB for RS when SLB's worked with RK, too? Why is RS's fault RK-SLB combo bombed hard??😆 SLB didn't have success- before Ranveer- for years and years(maybe since Devdas..or a bit in Black)..even with the Kapoor future young superstarni😆!
Heck Aish and HR flopped with SLB in Guzaarish..U conveniently forget that.
You conveniently seem to forget that, although given best available script, director, music and so on..RK flopped massively a lot of times, and given quite a few all-time disasters.. Whilst RS worked with unknown directors (at the time)..or those known for 'artsy' but 'floppy' movies such as SLB... and still managed to debut with successand make successful movies...
So yeah, the directors were mostly well known and hit makers on RK's case..so let's not just worry about SLB ,...who worked with BOTH. One 'star' flopped badly, the other brought success..
RS's hits are constantly bigger than RK's and RK's flops are many times disasters. It's that easy.

Ajay has a thing: consistency. He's been slowly building his brand and fame and getting bigger.
Like AK he does generally good in all the movies, even if his movies are not suck massive hits as Akshay's..
I think he's trying , of late, to make bigger movies.
In case your memory is weak, let me remind you that Saawariya was the debut movie of Ranbir and you are comparing it RL, BM and Padmaavat in which popular faces we're casted. Also are you trying to pass off Sonam as a Hit actress using one Salman movie and a movie which was a Hit because of WOM and these films were Hits later in Sonam's career so what's your point?😆
Now here are some facts for you. Ayan Mukherji, Anurag Basu, Imtiaz Ali, Anurag Kashyap and Abhinav Kashyap are no big directors. Ayan's only clean Hit in his filmography is YJHD which is with RK. Imtiaz Ali has only two small Hits JWM and LAK. He has much more failures than successes. You brought only Murder for Anurag Basu. You know what are his other Hit films than Murder and Barfi? Don't bother. Abhinav Kashyap was a big director? He had one Dabangg which was Blockbuster because of Salman's stardom. And let's not even talk about Anurag Kashyap. Because everyone knows what a big box office poison he is. If you don't know that then you need to upgrade your knowledge about Bollywood.
One or two Hit films in a filmography doesn't make a director big. So next time do proper research before speaking shit.
Now let me tell you why I said that Ranveer needed to prove himself without SLB and Deepika.
Because before Simmba he didn't have a single clean Hit without SLB and Deepika even though he too worked with big directors like Aditya Chopra. Don't worry, I'm not gonna call Ali Abbas Zafar, Zoya Akhtar and Shaad Ali as big directors even though they too had one or two Hits before working with Ranveer. But you should stick with your logic and consider them big directors if you consider f*cking Anurag Kashyap as a big director!!! Actually Ram-Leela shouldn't even be considered a Ranveer movie. It was more of Deepika's film as she was coming after Blockbusters YJHD and Chennai Express which benefitted her immensely. Ranveer on the other hand got his first Hit with this film so he was a taker not a giver here. When he again worked with SLB in BM, he was already a Hit director because of Deepika's movie Ram-Leela.

APKGK : Director Rajkumar Santoshi got his first Hit after 12 years. Last was Ghatak in 1996. But let's not count this as I didn't count Ram-Leela as Ranveer's movie.
Raajneeti : Director Prakash Jha got his first clean Hit with this film.
Barfi : Second clean Hit after 8 years for Anurag Basu after Murder.
YJHD : Second film and first clean Hit of Ayan Mukherji.
ADHM : First non-SRK film of Kjo to become a clean Hit (That cameo doesn't count). Aditya Chopra failed to give a Hit without SRK when he casted your favorite actor.
Sanju : Hirani is of course a big director but let me tell you that adjusted for inflation Sanju is a bigger grosser than 3 Idiots. It's the second biggest grosser of Hirani after PK with inflation adjusted.
So directors being hit makers for RK was another bullshit that you spouted. Yeah yeah yeah, it's RK who always gets the best available scripts, director, music, editor, cameraman, spotboy, make-up man!!! Why? Because you said so!!!
The only constant shown in huge grosser by your favorite is with Padmaavat and Simmba. And both films were with Hit directors. Otherwise Gutter Boy failed to cross 150 Crores.
