Chapter 3
Maya’s POV:
I looked at my hands smiling slightly. I never touch anyone cause it always triggers the memories I tried to suppress since last 10 years. I absolutely abhor any type of touch especially from men, but I never felt disgusted with Rudra. Even today I bandaged his palm. It’s really weird to see this strong person crumble down. First in the lift and then tonight in the office. I know Rudra is not weak but sometimes our emotions got the better of us. I caught him in a emotional moment that’s it. I know he will be back to the strong and resilient Rudra Roy again.
Rajiv: Smile? That too on your face?
I looked up startled and saw Rajiv coming inside the study room with two coffees in his hand. I nodded at him taking one of the cup.
Rajiv: Do you think Rudra will question Rishi?
He asked looking at me curiously. He will. Eventually. But I am sure he won’t do that now.
Maya: He won’t. He will investigate first.
I said looking at Rajiv seriously and he looked at me baffled.
Rajiv: This much planning?
He asked and I shook my head at him. This is not planning. This is my knowledge of Rudra’s nature.
Maya: I know him this much.
I said smirking and he sighed shaking his head amused. I may have researched about Rudra but still every single time he seems like a mystery to me. He has layers which I want to open. I want to find out what he is made of.
Rajiv: What about MJ?
I looked at Rajiv hearing the name I despise the most. I gritted my teeth feeling annoyed. MJ will have to lose something very dear to him.
Maya: His reputation and his perfect family facade means everything to him. So I am going to snatch away his everything.
I said and looked at Rajiv only to see him grinning. I know he has his own reasons to be with me. He wants to see MJ in dust and right now only I can do that.
Rajiv: So!! Let’s prepare for the party.
He said looking at me with pure evil face and I shrugged nonchalantly.
Maya: For sure!!
I nodded at him and he went out of the room for god knows what. I sighed and picked up the photograph from my desk.
Rudra and Rishi. Mrityunjay Roy’s sons. Rishi!! MJ’s biggest strength and Rudra!! MJ’s biggest weakness. Rishi, the one who is mad in my love; Rudra, the one who doesn’t believe me a bit. Rishi, the one who can love me but can’t fight his dad for me; Rudra, the one who can fight with the whole world if by any chance he feels anything for me. Rishi is a child and Rudra is a man of his words. But now Rishi has to change.
Maya: Rishi!! This is your test to prove who you are. MJ’s son or Rudra’s brother.
I said looking at Rishi’s photograph smirking slightly. MJ won’t know what has hit him this time. And Rudra has to come out of his past. He has to overcome his fears.
Maya: Rudra!! It’s time that you fight back to the person who wronged you. You can’t keep your pain hidden always, you have to bring it to the fore. You have to show your hurt to your brother.
I looked at his pic almost in wonder. How can a person smile like this that too when his heart is broken? You have to disclose your past Rudra. I want to know it. I want to know what that MJ did to you. I want to know why you hate your own father this much. I know and saw that MJ wants you with himself, so why are you refusing?
Rajiv: Still thinking about Rudra?
I put the picture down startled hearing Rajiv’s teasing voice. How does he know about it? I am sure he didn’t see me with Rudra’s pic then how come he knows that I was thinking about Rudra?
Maya: Just thinking something.
I shrugged and saw Rajiv looking at me smirking as if he caught me doing something naughty. What is wrong with him?
Rajiv: Are you sure he is not securing his position in your heart?
He asked and I clenched my fists tightly. NO!!There is no position in my heart for anyone else. One betrayal is enough for a life time.
Maya: My heart has thousand pieces Rajiv. And these pieces will only prick the one who wants to reside here.
I said closing my eyes tightly. I don’t want to cry. I don’t want these tears in my eyes. I never wanted to hurt someone but the devils are meant to be destroyed.
Rajiv: That means Rishi is going to get hurt. Real bad.
Rajiv said and I shook my head at him. Not literally. I am not a murderer or a blackmailer. I will just torture Rishi. I will show him the difference between a man and a boy.
Maya: Not literally, but his ego will be in shreds till I am finished with him.
I told him determined. I know Rishi is nothing in front of Rudra and he will be understanding this now. He has to come out of his father’s shadow and become a man just like his brother. Now only Rishi will decide what his fate would be.
Rajiv: And Rudra?
I stiffened hearing his name. I still don’t know in which category to keep him. Every single time I try controlling him he does something unpredictable.
Maya: He is not the one who can stay where I put him.
I said what I felt about him. I know he will never stay in the boundaries I set up for him.
Rajiv: Means??
Rajiv asked looking at me confused. Rudra has changed in last 10 years and this Rudra is bold and daring.
Maya: He has a past which redefined him. And I want to know about what made him.
I told him softly. I want to ask what bothers him. I want to find out about him. And this is irritating me to hell because I never planned to know about his past. I just wanted to use him, but he is making this difficult. He is not a simple man who just hated his father. His hate has a reason that MJ can never undone. Rudra can read my eyes which no one has been capable of doing since I changed. He understands my pain cause somewhere in his past he suffered it too. And this is what irks me, cause to control him I have to include myself in his life.
Rajiv: You mean you want to know about his past?
Rajiv asked and I nodded at him frowning.
Rajiv: Do you really think he will tell you??
He asked and I looked at him smiling slightly.He is right. Rudra will never tell me about his past but I can manipulate him to spill the beans I think. Though it will be difficult for sure.
Maya: He will if he believes that I am going through the same pain as him.
I said smiling at Rajiv. Rudra is very emotional by nature and I plan to use it in my favor.
Rajiv: So you are going to create a fake sob story?
He said smirking and I turned around to look outside the window. I have never told a lie to Rudra and I am not going to do it now. Whatever I tell him will be the truth.
Rajiv: Not bad!!
He said and I left the study room to go to my room. It’s better if I take rest now. Rudra is a pretty big challenge for me because I know he doesn’t trust me yet. But he will trust me soon and then he will tell me about himself.

MJ’s POV:
I pinched my forehead stressed about Rudra. What do I do with this boy? I can’t even behave with him as I behave with others, cause I know he will hurt himself. And I can’t let that happen. I don’t understand why he is destroying his life for a mere middle class girl. There are so many girls here in this world better than that girl. I know he is just being stubborn.
Rishi: Dad I know Bhai shouldn’t have talked to you like that but he was distressed about something I think.
I heard Rishi’s voice and I sighed trying to relax myself. I don’t want him stressing himself.
Mrityunjay: Hmm. I am fine. You go and take rest.
I told him smiling slightly. It’s already very late and he has college tomorrow.
Rishi: But you?
He asked looking at me tensed. I stroked his hairs smiling. He is the best son anyone can get. The carbon copy of Rudra. If only that girl never came in our life, then my Rudra would be like before only.
Mrityunjay: Let Rudra come back first.
I told him softly. I want to talk to Rudra. I want to make him understand that whatever he is doing could be self destructing.
Rishi: Bhai is not at home?
Rishi asked looking at me startled. Looks like he doesn’t know about Rudra’s exit.
Mrityunjay: He left home after our fight.
I told him softly and he looked at me tensed. We heard a car’s horn and Rishi looked at me attentively.
Rishi: Looks like he came back.
He said and I nodded at him. We both came out of my study and came down only to see that Rudra has already discarded his jacket and is standing on the bar filling his glass.
Rishi: Bhai!! Sorry!! I shouldn’t have talked to you like that.
Rishi said sitting in front of Rudra as he sat on the couch drinking his wine. Rudra looked up after a sip as if we are some unwanted species here.
Rudra: Do you know Maya?
He asked and I saw Rishi blanched looking at Rudra stunned. Maya? The same writer Rudra signed?
Rishi: How do you know about her?
He asked looking at Rudra still shocked.
Rudra: Do you know her or not?
Rudra asked looking at his wine glass visibly angry. How did Rishi know this Maya? I am sure if she is writing from last 5 years then she would be way out of his league.
Rishi: I know her. She is my girlfriend.
Rishi said and I looked at him stunned. Girlfriend?? I saw Rudra closing his eyes angrily. What is this?
Mrityunjay: Rishi!!
I called Rishi in warning and he looked down stiffening.
Rishi: Sorry Dad. I know how concerned you get about me, but she is a good person.
He said and went to his room. What the hell!!I glared at the place where Rishi stood just some time ago. How can he do this? He is just 21 for god sake.
Rudra: Well Mr. Roy I know what you are thinking but you won’t be successful here.
I heard Rudra’s voice and turned around only to see him looking at me smirking. What does he mean by all this?
Mrityunjay: Won’t I?
I asked looking at him raising my eyebrows. He is underestimating me. If I can save him from the clutches of a money minded bitch then I could do this for Rishi too. I know this writer can never genuinely love Rishi, he is a child practically. And to top of it he is just a spoiled kid, and no woman can love a person like Rishi unless she just wants to use him for our family name.
Rudra: No!! Cause unfortunately for you Maya is very strong. And on top of it she doesn’t love Rishi. She is of my age. And she is fed up of Rishi’s advances.
Rudra said and I looked at him startled. That means here the problem is my own son, not that woman? This is good.
Mrityunjay: Good then I just have to make Rishi understand.
I told him nodding slightly and Rudra just rolled his eyes as if he is amused about something.
Rudra: Do that please!! If you can.
He said filling his glass again and I frowned looking at him dismissing me just like that. I know he won’t listen anything right now. Its better if I talk to him in the morning. I sighed and came to my room only to see Antara already sleeping. I am just tolerating her only for Rudra. I laid down on my bed closing my eyes tensed. I don’t want to repeat whatever happened 10 years ago. But I will do it if I have to.

Rudra’s POV:
I came inside my room and laid down on my bed.May be I can now pass out totally. I hate this pain I feel inside my heart. Why Avni? Why did you do it? Why did you fell prey to my own father? Just why? Then just like that everything went black.

I opened my eyes feeling the light on my face. I looked around only to see that I am in my room on my bed. I sighed and got up remembering last night incident. I have to talk to Rishi. I went to freshen up and came out only to see its already time to leave for office.
I got ready for office and came to Rishi’s room only to see him talking on a phone.
Rishi: Maya!! I won’t leave you. You know I love you.
He said with almost crazed expressions on his face. He is getting obsessed with her. And this is not good for him or her.
Rishi: Maya please. Give me a chance. I will show you that I am your dream man.
He said in almost panic and I gritted my teeth looking at my brother. I came inside and snatched the phone from his hand putting it on speaker.
Maya: Please try to understand Rishi....
I heard Maya’s tensed voice and was just going to tell her that it’s me but then I heard Rishi’s voice.
Rishi: Bhai!!
He shouted trying to snatch the phone but I moved my hand back glaring at him.
Rudra: Maya!! It’s me.
I said softly with Rishi still trying to snatch his phone away. But we both stopped hearing Maya’s voice again.
Maya: Rudra!!
She said my name softly and I looked at the phone startled. I looked at Rishi only to see him looking at the phone with wide eyes. I know why. Cause Maya just uttered my name as if she is reading something holy or pious. What was that?
Maya: Are you okay?
She asked after some time and I came out of my thoughts. God!! I am getting mad I think. What was I thinking?
Rudra: Hmm. I am fine.
I told him softly and heard her take a deep breath. I looked at my hand frowning. She really bandaged my hand yesterday. Strange!! I thought she hate to touch people and she herself tied this bandage last night.
Maya: Make him understand please.
I heard her almost tensed voice and I took a deep breath nodding at her. But then I realized that she can’t see me.
Rudra: I will.
I said and finally Rishi came out of his thoughts and looked at me narrowing his eyes.
Rishi: I am not going to leave her. I love her.
He said or rather shouted at me. I glared at him but before I could say anything we both heard Maya’s irritated voice.
Maya: You don’t know the meaning of love Rishi. You are just infatuated with me.
She said and I nodded at Rishi and he looked like he could kill someone right now. Even I was taken aback by his attitude. I never saw Rishi like this before.
Rishi: I know I LOVE YOU.
Rishi shouted and I felt like throwing something on his head. Why can’t he understand that this stubbornness of his can take Maya’s life.
Maya: Take care of your hand please.
Maya said and I sighed trying to calm myself down. She doesn’t deserve an obsessive boy behind her.
Rudra: Thanks.
I said as I couldn’t thank her last night and she cut the call. I looked at Rishi and he shook his head looking at my face.
Rishi: No Bhai!! I won’t listen.
He said looking ahead stubbornly. Why is he not listening? This is getting out of hand now. I looked at him tensed.
Rudra: You are putting Maya in danger Rishi. If you really love her then leave her otherwise your precious Dad won’t leave her.
I told him and he stiffened and looked at me in disbelief. I know he trusts his Dad but that man doesn’t deserve it.
Rishi: I don’t believe you.
Rishi said looking at me seriously. I know he doesn’t. But that will be his loss. But Maya won’t be suffering this time. I won’t let it happen. I couldn’t save Avni because at that time I was fighting against my Dad, and I became weak but this time I will save Maya as this time I am fighting just a schemer. I will be fighting a person who has no regard for any relation. He just looks for his gain, nothing else.
Rudra: Then stay with her and see the consequences. But don’t worry nothing will happen to Maya cause this time MJ doesn’t has to fight his son before destroying Maya, but he will have to fight Rudra before reaching Maya.
I told him sternly and he looked at me as if he has seen a ghost. But then all of a sudden his expressions changed from shock to anger.
Rishi: Why are you fighting for her? She is my love.
He said glaring at me and I looked at him bored. He is getting repetitive now. Does he even know the meaning of love? No!! He doesn’t.
Rudra: She doesn’t love you.
I said looking at him in a matter of fact voice and he looked at me determined.
Rishi: I will make her love me.
He said smiling slightly and I rolled my eyes at him. Is it possible to force your love on someone?
Rudra: Love can never be forced Rish. And you have to understand this.
I said grabbing his shoulders and he looked at me with pain in his eyes. I don’t want to see him like this.
Rishi: I know that. Otherwise you would have loved Anu till now. Right?
He asked looking down as if he is defeated. I moved towards the window and looked out tensed. I don’t want to hurt him but he is right. I can never love Anu, she is just my best friend and she will always be that only.
Rishi: Why do you hate Dad so much?
He asked coming to stand beside me and looked at me tensed. I sighed and looked at him smiling sadly. I don’t want to see him suffering the same fate as mine.
Rudra: I don’t want to hurt you Rish. So please handle yourself before your Dad starts to think that he will need to handle this matter himself. You would be destroyed.
I told him softly pressing his shoulder tightly and he looked at me in disbelief.
Rishi: He is my Dad. He will never do anything to destroy me.
He said shaking his head and I chuckled humorlessly. Sure!! I can understand his trust on his Dad. I trusted him like this too.
Rudra: He was my Dad too. But he pushed me to the point of no return. He damaged my life beyond repair.
I told him softly and he looked at me shocked.
Rishi: What did he do?
Rish asked looking at me tensed. I don’t want to ruin his Dad for him but he has to see the truth. That man is no God, he is a killer.
Rudra: He killed his son. He killed Rudra Mrityunjay Roy. He killed my love.
I told him angrily and he looked at me with wide eyes.
Rishi: WHAT!!
He shouted and looked at me as if I killed someone. I can’t handle all this anymore. I stormed out of his room towards the stairs and I heard his voice as well as footsteps behind me.
Rishi: Bhai stop!! Bhai!!
I came downstairs and was just going towards the door when I heard Mom’s voice.
Antara: Rudra!!
I stopped and closed my eyes trying to calm myself down. I saw Rishi looking at me tensed. I turned towards Mom only to see her looking at me tensed. What happened to her?
Rudra: Mom. What’s wrong?
I asked grabbing her shoulders worried.
Antara: I hope you remember what is tomorrow?
She asked softly and I stiffened clearly remembering the date. How can I forget it? How can someone forget the date of his death.
Rudra: How can I forget the day? Of course I do.
I told her looking ahead gritting my teeth. No matter how much I tried to handle myself but the mention of this day brings all the bad memories to the fore.
Antara: Then you are coming right?
She asked and I looked at her in disbelief. Is she even serious? How can she even ask me to do it?
Rudra: No I am not.
I told her sternly and stormed towards the front door. I can’t stay here anymore, not even for a second.
Antara: But.....
I heard Mom’s voice but I am not in the mood to listen to anything. I just hate this house and that man’s existence. I hate the relations that are binding me to him. I want to set myself free but I can’t do that till Mom is silent.

Rishi’s POV:
I shook my head looking at Bhai storming out of the house. Was he telling the truth? Did Dad really destroyed his relationship? What if there is some misunderstanding? Bhai’s pain is real. His hurt is real. But I am still confused about what could have happened in the past that made Bhai this bitter. I sighed and turned around only to see Dad standing in front of me frowning. Now what?
Mrityunjay: Rishi!! Where are you going?
Dad asked looking at me sternly and I gulped feeling like a kid yet again. But I have to grow up now. For Maya. I took a deep breath and smiled looking at him.
Rishi: I have some work Dad.
I told him seriously and his eyes narrowed at me.
Mrityunjay: With Maya?
He asked raising his eyebrows and I shook my head in a no. Not with Maya. At least not now.
Rishi: No Dad. Not with Maya. I won’t meet Maya again.
I told him and he nodded smiling at me slightly. Yes!! I won’t meet Maya again till I prove myself to be worthy of her. She wants a man not a boy then she will get it.
Mrityunjay: Good boy. I really hoped that I don’t have to make you understand about all this.
He said putting his palm on my face and for the first time I felt a warning behind his smile. For the first time I saw the man everyone is afraid of. This man in front of me is not my Dad, he is Mrityunjay Roy. The man whom everyone is afraid of, the man who according to Bhai destroyed him. Is it possible that he will hurt Maya because of me? I think it’s time to get some answers from Dad.
Rishi: Whom did Bhai loved Dad?
I asked and saw him stiffen instantly. His eyes filled with rage and I flinched back looking at his expressions. I don’t want to see Dad like this.
Mrityunjay: Avni!! She was an opportunist. She wanted Rudra’s property nothing else.
He snapped and I looked at him startled. So much hatred for a girl? Because she was Bhai’s girlfriend? This is just nonsense.
Rishi: How do you know that?? May be she actually loved him?
I asked gathering some courage and he glared at me turning towards me completely.
Mrityunjay: No!! She didn’t. She was a middle class girl with too much dreams in her eyes. How do you think she would have been?
He asked looking at me with some wicked expressions and I looked at him startled. I understand his thinking but not every middle class girl is an opportunist, some girls can be genuine too.
Rishi: You should have given her benefit of doubt.
I said to him not liking his thoughts about Bhai’s girlfriend. Bhai is not an idiot to love some money minded bitch. If he still loves her this madly then there has to be some real feelings in his relationship from both the sides.
Mrityunjay: She chose ME over RUDRA. What does that tell you about her?
He shouted looking at me and then stormed towards his study. Damn!! What did I just saw? His eyes were raging with anger and confusion. He himself is not sure about his decision.
Rishi: You are hiding something dad. But what?
I whispered to myself tensed. Why do I feel that the truth is still hidden?? The truth that can change all of our lives. I shook my head and called Maya. She deserves to know what I planned for us.
Maya: Yes Rishi!!
I heard her bored voice and sighed closing my eyes. I know she doesn’t take me seriously. She thinks me as a child. But now I will prove that I am Rudra Roy’s brother. I can be just Rishi Roy too.
Rishi: I won’t meet you till I prove that I am man enough to handle a mature woman like you. I promise Maya.
I told her and cut the call. I don’t want to listen to her denials anymore. I want a job that too out of my father’s company. And I know the best place to start too. I called Anu and she picked up after two rings.
Rishi: Hey Anu!!
I said taking a deep breath. I am nervous cause I know though it’s my brother’s company but I can’t get the job without doing anything.
Ananya: Rishi? Everything alright?
She asked worried and I smiled slightly hearing the worry in her voice. She is perfect for Bhai if only he could come out from his failed love.
Rishi: Actually I want a job. Can you arrange an interview?
I asked clearly knowing that she can do this, and she is not bound by company rules for this. I heard her take a deep breath as if she is in shock.
Ananya: You are in college Rishi. You can only be an intern right now. I hope you know that right?
She asked in a tensed voice and I nodded my head in yes.
Rishi: I do. And I am okay with it.
I told her realizing I am on voice call and she can’t see my gestures. It’s just a matter of 6 months before I can get the job for real.
Ananya: Then you can come to Ruan Publications. You have to give an interview and then you will be doing an internship under me.
She said and I grinned finally relaxing. Wow!!This is brilliant.
Rishi: Thanks Anu!!
I cut the call grinning like an idiot. This is the best. I can do my internship without Dad’s support on my own and I can even be with Bhai all day. Amazing!! Anu really solved all my problems.

Maya’s POV:
I looked up from my manuscript to see Ananya grinning like an idiot. First of all why is she in my cabin even after I gave her the notes and secondly why is she this much happy?
Ananya: Oh god!! I am so excited. Rudra will be so surprised.
She said and I looked at her surprised. What has happened all of a sudden?
Maya: Why? What happened?
I asked looking at her curiously and she smiled sitting on the chair beside me.
Ananya: You know Rishi?
She asked and I looked at her alarmed. What about him?
Maya: Rudra’s brother?
I asked trying not to show how much familiar I am with him.
Ananya: Yes!! He is coming here for internship.
She said excited and I closed my eyes irritated. What a spoiled brat!! If not Dad then brother.
Maya: And you will give him the opportunity just because he is Rudra’s brother?
I asked looking at her slightly irritated and she looked at me startled. But then shook her head smiling at me.
Ananya: I think you don’t know Rudra, Maya. He will never allow anyone in his company just because of family connections.He will never bend his rules, not even for his darling brother.
She said winking and I took a deep breath relaxing slightly. Thank god!! At lease Rudra has some sense left in him.
Maya: He will give interview for the post?
I asked looking at her suspiciously and she nodded organizing the papers I gave her.
Ananya: He will.
She said smiling at me. I removed my gaze from her and looked down tensed. She reminds me of the girl who I was 10 years ago.It hurts to see that she can smile and laugh without any baggage and I have to burn myself to a degree that I can never be the same.
Rudra: Maya!!
I looked up startled hearing Rudra’s voice only to see him entering the cabin.
Rudra: Anu? You were going to print our latest chapter right?
Rudra asked looking at Anu frowning. Well Anu did came here to get the edited versions of my old novel.
Ananya: Shit!! I totally forgot. Sorry guys!! Will see you later.
She said looking at the papers in her hand and ran out of the room. Rudra shook his head looking at Ananya’s retreating form and then sat on his chair. No matter how much I tried to stay away from this man, he fascinates me. He is a Roy and I hate all the Roys but I can’t bring it in me to hate him. He was not here 10 years ago otherwise no one would have been destroyed that day.
Rudra: What?
I came out of my thoughts hearing Rudra’s voice. I looked at him only to see him looking at me raising his eyebrows.
Maya: Rishi is on another madness I guess.
I told him shrugging and he frowned looking at me confused.
Rudra: Means?
He asked and I took a deep breath looking in his eyes. He unnerves me and his eyes scans every single thing.
Maya: Means he is going to get a job now.He wants to prove himself worthy of me.
I said looking at him amused. I know Rishi could do it after all he is Mrityunjay Roy’s son and above that he is Rudra’s brother. He has it in him to establish himself. But before that he has to decide what he wants with whole heart. First he want to give a test of his honesty and loyalty.
Rudra: That’s good for him. At least he won’t have to expand MJ’s empire.
Rudra said shrugging and I smiled slightly looking at his unperturbed response. Rudra Roy!! You are something else. Every single time he surprises me with his responses. Sometimes he is as violent as a raging storm which destroys everything in its path and sometimes he is as cool as a soothing summer wind. What is he??
Maya: Why do you hate your Dad so much?
I asked looking at him curiously and he stiffened turning towards me. But his eyes doesn’t held anger in them, his eyes are cold and calculating.
Rudra: Why do you hate people so much?
He asked and I flinched not wanting to remember my past again. I hate it to the core. I looked at Rudra only to see him smiling at me slightly.
Rudra: Maya, some truths are better hidden.What’s the need to open Pandora’s box?
He asked smirking and I took a deep breath realizing he is going to make all this as much difficult as it can be.
Rudra: Anyways I came here to talk to you about your latest book. Did you think something?
He asked and I nodded looking at him. I am going to reveal everything in this story. I am going to write about the real Maya. About the Maya whom no one knows.
Maya: Hmm. It’s a revenge story.
I told him shrugging and looked down at my manuscript tensed. What if someone got to know about this story?
Rudra: Can I know the plot?
He asked looking at me curiously and I nodded at him. As my publisher it’s his right but I feel honored that he asked me about it first. Now that I realized he never demands his right, he always ask your opinion first. He listens to what you want to say and then only he tells what he thinks. What a strange man!!
Maya: A middle class girl who was destroyed by a rich family came back with an agenda of vengeance.
I told him and he looked at me startled. His eyes filled with pain. But then he shook his head and looked at me curiously.
Rudra: Did you think about the climax?
He asked and I stiffened looking at him. Yes!!I thought about the climax very well.
Maya: She achieved what she wanted. Her revenge fulfilled.
I told him smirking and he shook his head smiling as if he is thinking something else. But what??
Rudra: What about her?
He asked and I stiffened looking at him stunned. What does he want to know?
Maya: Means?
I asked looking at him slightly scared. He always manages to unnerve me. God knows what is going on in his mind now. He sighed and looked at me amused.
Rudra: What after the revenge? What are you going to show? Her death or a love story?
He asked and I looked at him startled. I felt my hands shivering all of a sudden.
Maya: I never thought about it.
I told him in a strangled voice. I never thought about anything but my revenge. Never thought about my life after I complete this mission. I felt like the walls are closing on me all of a sudden. I took deep breaths to calm myself.
Rudra: Maya!! You are an accomplished writer. You should have thought about it.
Rudra said looking at me as if he is disappointed by my work. I felt my voice hitch in my throat. I can’t seem to form any sentence. All of a sudden his phone started ringing and he looked down at his mobile phone tensed.
Rudra: Excuse me!!
He said and got up from his seat and moved towards the window. I took a deep breath as soon as he went away from me. What am I thinking? What is wrong with me? Why am I so tensed? I felt my eyes tearing up and I wiped my tears harshly. I don’t want to be that weak girl again, but he is not wrong either. What after my revenge?
Rudra: Mom please!! How many times do I have to tell you? I am not coming to the party.
He snapped all of a sudden and I looked at him curiously. Looks like he is talking about the Founders’ Party. The same party which changed my life for worst. He sat down on his chair frowning at nothing in particular. I can see how tensed he is.
Maya: Founder’s party?
I asked and he looked at me startled.
Rudra: How do you know?
He asked looking at me suspiciously. Why is he always so suspicious of me? It’s not as if I am planning and plotting 24*7. Well!! Not with him.
Maya: I am invited too.
I told him shrugging and he looked at me alarmed. Honestly he is looking funny right now, changing his expressions every second.
Rudra: Tell me you are not going.
He asked almost pleading and I looked at him startled. Looking at him anyone will think that he is requested to sacrifice himself.
Maya: But I AM going. After all it is Roy’s party. Who’s going to miss it?
I told him smiling slightly as he sighed defeated and picked up his phone tensed. I know he can’t leave me alone with his father in that party and neither can I remain alone with his father. No matter how strong I am, in front of MJ my panic always starts resurfacing.
Rudra: I am coming.
Rudra said to god knows who and cut the call irritated. All of a sudden the door to the cabin opened with a thud and I looked at the door only to see an excited Rishi coming inside.
Rishi: Bhai!! I got selected...
He stopped abruptly looking at me stunned. I took a deep breath trying to calm myself. I clenched my fists tightly seeing him coming towards us. I remembered whatever happened on my last date with him. He tried to come close to me and I slapped him. Though I managed to convince him not to touch me but at that moment I saw MJ in him. The same anger and madness. That day I got to know that Rishi is not as harmless as he seems to be.
Rishi: Maya!!
He looked at me in surprise and I saw Rudra standing in front of me and I got up from my chair too. At least I am not here alone with him. Though he promised me that he won’t meet me till he stands on his own feet but I don’t believe him. Not even a bit. He is not trustworthy.But he is important for my plan, so I have to endure him.

Ananya’s POV:
I came inside Rudra’s cabin only to see Rishi standing in front of me stunned and Rudra is standing in front of Rishi in a defensive stance. What happened? And where is Maya?
Ananya: What happened?
I asked standing beside Rishi and Rudra took a deep breath moving slightly and I saw Maya standing beside him.
Rishi: Nothing. I just came here to tell Bhai about my result.
Rishi said looking at Maya in disbelief. Oh!!So that’s why he is stunned. Well!! I have to say that Maya is stunning. Anyways!! Rishi was here for interview.
Ananya: Did you got selected?
I asked grabbing Rishi’s arm and turned him towards me.
Rishi: I do.
He nodded smiling slightly. That’s great. Now I won’t have to do all the work myself.
Ananya: Great then. Come with me. I will tell you what you have to do.
I said dragging him out of the cabin for typing all the pages that we have to print today. As Maya writes her books in old fashioned way, i.e., with pen and paper so we have to get the story typed.
We both have completed almost half of the 50 pages when I saw Rudra and Maya coming out of his cabin talking about something. I looked at the time only to see it’s already lunch time. They both came to us as we are the only people who are here. I think everyone else went to canteen. I didn’t realized that it’s already lunch time.
Ananya: What are you both talking about?
I asked as soon as Rudra sat in the chair in front of mine and Maya sat beside him.
Rudra: Maya’s new book.
Rudra said and I looked at Maya excited. That means she is writing another book apart from the one which we are typing?
Ananya: You selected the plot?
I asked looking at her curiously. I just love her stories. Her stories are always full of pain and anguish. Yet she manages to make them beautiful. I saw Rishi stopped typing and he turned to look at all of us with a blank face. What is wrong with this boy?? He is not himself since I dragged him away from Rudra’s cabin.
Ananya: Will I get a manuscript?
I asked looking at Maya again. She sighed and looked at me smiling slightly. She was just going to say something when I heard Rudra’s voice.
Rudra: You are the one who’s going to get it typed Anu.
Rudra said winking and I grinned looking at him. He is right. I will get to read it first. I nodded at him and I looked at Rishi only to see him looking at Maya and Rudra as they both are talking about something. Something is not right. I dragged my chair close to his and bend towards him slightly.
Ananya: What’s wrong with you?
I whispered to him and he looked at me startled.He sighed and then looked at Maya again.
Rishi: Are they both always remain together?
He asked and I frowned looking at him. What is wrong with him? What type of question is this? Looking at him someone will think that he is jealous of seeing his girlfriend with some other man.
Ananya: Maya is our star writer. Rudra has to handle her himself. And to top of it, no one seems to handle her tantrums better than Rudra. He understands her.
I told him shrugging and he stiffened looking at me irritated. Now what is this? He is really confusing me. He already has a girlfriend who is very serious about him, then why is he behaving like a jealous boyfriend?

Rishi’s POV:
I took a deep breath trying not to react at the way they both talk to each other. When I called Maya today and she called Bhai’s name I felt annoyed cause she never called my name that softly. And now when I see both of them it’s clear that Maya is actually looking interested in Bhai. I know Bhai is normal but Maya looks infatuated. And that is not possible. She loves me. I am sure.
Rudra: You really think people will like that?
I came out of my thoughts as I saw Bhai looking at her amused. Maya got up from her chair and we all got up too looking at her irritated face. She glared at Bhai and I gulped looking at her angry eyes. I looked at Anu only to see her gulping nervously, anyone would be scared of her anger. But Bhai looked unfazed, as if he doesn’t even care. Oh god!! How can he be this daring?
Rudra: Maya, only suspense and thriller will bore people. And what’s the need to always give your stories tragic ending? Let this girl live peacefully with a person who loves her as she wanted to be loved.
He said smiling slightly and I saw a miracle happening in front of my eyes. She sighed and her face broke into a slight smile.A smile she never gave me. A smile I never saw on her face before. Looks like they are talking about Maya’s new book.
Rishi: What’s the name of your book?
I asked looking at Maya curiously. Though I don’t like reading books but looking at Anu fangirling over Maya I think I could try her books too.
Maya: Beyhadh.
She said looking down almost sadly. She is looking down as if she is thinking something or may be remembering something.
Rishi: Sounds intriguing.
I said but it looks like she didn’t even listen. I don’t know what to think of her. She is smart, intelligent and beautiful. But she is scarred too and I saw that beforehand.
Ananya: Maya!! Did you have your lunch?
Anu asked and Maya looked at her startled.
Maya: I don’t feel like eating anything.
She said shrugging nonchalantly and I saw Bhai rolling his eyes.
Rudra: Actually she is right. Why would she feel like eating? She is a machine Anu.
Bhai said to Anu smiling and Maya glared at him. I never saw Maya like this before. It looks as if she is more human here.As if she is not trying to smile all the time here. It looks as if I am looking at real Maya here.
Maya: Rudra!! You know I don’t eat junk food.
She said somewhat sternly and Bhai looked at her amused.
Rudra: You think we eat junk food? Don’t you know we have a canteen?
He asked raising his eyebrow at her and she sighed shaking her head at him. Bhai normally don’t interact with girls this frankly, Anu is an exception though cause she is his best friend.
Maya: I don’t want to go to canteen.
She said looking at Bhai irritated.
Rudra: Of course not. Let’s go to my cabin.
Bhai said and indicated her to lead the way.She nodded slightly and we all went to his cabin. Maya and Bhai sat down on the couch and Anu dragged two chairs for us. I sighed and sat on the chair beside Anu. I don’t like Maya with Bhai and I know why. Bhai has all the qualities she wants in her life partner and I hate it. Yes!! He is independent, he has his own identity, he is as strong as a rock and he is a man of his words.
Maya: This is good.
Maya said having the food and Bhai grinned winking at her. I saw Anu looking at them slightly awkward and I clenched my fist seeing Maya smile at him. This is getting really irritating now.
Ananya: You know Rudra selected this cook after rejecting so many applications.
Anu said eating her food and I started eating too.
Rudra: I hate junk food too. And I want the food to be taste like home cooked food. And this cook was the best among them.
He said shrugging and Maya nodded at him and we all ate our food in silence. Anu opened her tiffin and I looked at it pleasantly surprised. It has my favorite desert, i.e., chocolate cake. She took out a piece and put it in front of Bhai and he shook his head in a no. I know he has to be on diet otherwise he never would have said no to chocolate cake. Anu glared at him and tried to make him eat the piece forcefully.
Rudra: Anu stop it!!
He said looking at her irritated but still he took a small bite from it. Anu forwarded the same cake piece in front of Maya and we all looked at her stunned. What is wrong with her??
Ananya: Please??
She said looking at Maya and Maya looked at Anu slightly panicked.
Maya: No!!
Maya shook her head and I took a deep breath relaxing. This Anu has lost her mind. Does she even love Bhai? What type of love is this that she doesn’t feel insecure seeing him with another woman, that too when Bhai always says that he doesn’t love her?
Ananya: Maya please. Just a bite.
She said looking at Maya pleading and I tried not to shout at her. She is being idiotic right now and I feel really irritated.
Maya: Ananya I said no.
Maya said getting up from the seat and moved towards Bhai’s desk tensed.
Rudra: Anu stop it. Why are you forcing her if she doesn’t want to eat?
Bhai said to Anu frowning and we all got up from our seats. Anu looked at the cake piece and frowned looking at it. What is she thinking? She marched towards where Bhai and Maya stood and glared at both of them.
Ananya: She has to eat. I don’t know anything.
Anu said and Maya moved close to Bhai. I looked at her startled as she grabbed Bhai’s arm tightly. What the hell!!
Maya: Rudra please!!
She said to him softly almost panicking and I looked at them gritting my teeth as Bhai put his hand above Maya’s hand on his arm and looked at Anu irritated. Now she doesn’t feel disgusted?? When I touched her she moved away as if I am forcing myself on her and now with Bhai she herself touched him. What the hell!!
Ananya: Rudra!! This is not fair.
Anu said and I saw Bhai taking whole piece of cake in his mouth forcefully. Anu glared at Bhai and I saw Maya looked at Bhai smiling slightly. There is something in her eyes that irked me to no end.
Maya : Thanks!!
She said to him softly and he looked at her as if he is trying to search something in her eyes.
Rudra: You’re welcome.
Bhai said pressing her hand and she looked at his arm startled and I was sure that she would snatch her hand back as she did with me but what happened shocked me to the core. She looked at Bhai blinking her eyes as if.....as if this is not the first time they touched each other.
Anu was wrong. Bhai and Maya don’t need to be together for whole day but they chose to be with each other.
Ananya: Let’s go Rishi. Lunch is over.
Anu said dragging me out by my arm and I feel frustrated about whatever is happening. I know any girl would prefer Bhai over me but I know that Bhai was never interested in girls because he already loves someone. But now with Maya I am too confused. I have to do something before I lose Maya completely.

Maya’s POV:
I saw Rudra moving out of the cabin and I looked at my hand frowning.
Maya: What is wrong with me?
I whispered to myself remembering whatever happened at the lunch. I hate when someone touches me and I never touch anyone.Then why with Rudra I don’t feel disgusted? Why do I calm down every single time he touches me? I can’t let him affect me. Not now, not ever. All of a sudden my phone starts ringing and I got up from my chair picking up the call.
Maya: Hello!!
I said waiting for Rajiv to say something.
Rajiv: Thought something about how to enter that party without anyone recognizing you?
He asked and I smirked remembering my plan. Oh yes I did think it through.
Maya: Masquerade.
I told him softly and heard his chuckle. No one could ever think what’s going to happen with the Roys.
Rajiv: Not bad Maya. What did you think to do in this party?
He asked and I felt my anger resurfacing. My first attack will be happening in this party. My first attack on MJ’s image. My first attack on his perfect family facade.
Maya: Expose Antara and her drug addiction.
I said smirking and heard him laugh on the other side of the phone.
Rajiv: Do you know MJ would be preparing my pyre right now.
He said when his laughing fit ceased and I looked ahead smirking. He is right. MJ knows him to be the investor and he definitely would be preparing his pyre.
Maya: Just act to be on MJ’s side and he won’t do anything to you.
I told him shrugging and heard him take a deep breath. MJ loves to control everyone and if he thinks that Rajiv can help him in bridging the gap between him and Rudra then he will never harm Rajiv.
Rajiv: Cool.
He said and before I could say anything I heard Rishi’s voice.
Rishi: Maya!!
I looked up only to see Rishi standing on the door looking at me seriously. I sighed shaking my head. Looks like it’s time to talk to this boy.
Maya: Will talk to you later.
I said and cut the call sitting on my chair. I looked up at Rishi with a stern face.
Maya: You are just an intern here Mr. Rishi Mrityunjay Roy. So please learn to knock on the door first.
I said looking at him slightly annoyed and he stiffened frowning at me.
Rishi: Sorry!!
He nodded and went out of the room.
Rishi: Can I come in?
He asked knocking the door and I nodded at him slightly.
Maya: I don’t think that our works are in any way related to each other. Then why are you here?
I asked picking up my pen and the manuscript which I was writing some time ago.
Rishi: Don’t you think you are being too friendly with Bhai?
He asked looking at me almost irritated and I looked at him amused. I never thought he would be jealous type.
Maya: That doesn’t concern you Mr. Rishi Roy.
I told him smirking slightly and he sat on the chair beside me. I looked at him startled as he pulled my chair towards him.
Rishi: Don’t go too close to Bhai. You will only be hurt. He loved someone very much and he loves her even now. And he could never love anyone else.
He said and I looked at him startled. Did Rudra tell him about his past? I frowned looking at him.
Maya: How can you say that this confidently?
I asked looking at him curiously and he sighed getting up from the chair again.
Rishi: If he could really love someone then don’t you think Ananya would be his wife till now?
He said raising his eyebrow at me and I tried not to laugh at him. Ananya and Rudra? Not possible. Rudra is a fire and Ananya is water. She will just cool him down and Rudra doesn’t need to cool down. He needs to burn, he needs to burn so vigorously that he burns down every single thing with him.
Maya: Ananya could never handle the fire that Rudra is.
I told him shrugging nonchalantly and saw his eyes flare.
Rishi: And you think you can do that?
He asked looking at me in challenge. I was just going to accept when the door opened again.
Rudra: Maya!!
Rudra looked at Rishi startled at first but then with a stern face.
Rudra: Rishi? What are you doing here? Anu said she sent you to print some documents.
Rudra asked looking at Rishi sternly and I saw Rishi gulp down nervously.
Rishi: I wanted to ask something from her,so I came here.
He said indicating towards me and I narrowed my eyes at him. He is a born liar.
Rudra: Rishi!! This is my office. So please be professional here.
Rudra glared at Rishi and he nodded stiffening.Then Rudra sat on his chair in front of me and I took a deep breath relaxing but still Rishi stood in his place only.
Rudra: Maya Anu gave these print outs.Please check them.
He said forwarding some papers to me and I nodded at him. I started checking the papers for any mistake.
Rudra: You can leave Rishi.
I heard Rudra’s stern voice and then the voice of the door but still I continued checking the papers. I am fed up of this Rishi right now. But he was right. Rudra loves someone dearly then why was I irritated when Rishi pointed it out. I have to control myself, I am here for revenge not for making new relations.
Rudra: What was he saying?
Rudra asked and I looked up putting the papers on the desk.
Maya: Nothing important. He was just telling me to stay away from you as you can never love someone.
I told him shrugging and Rudra looked at me stunned for some time but then he burst out laughing and I looked at him startled. What the!!
Rudra: He actually thinks that we can get romantically involved?? That too with each other?
He asked between laughing and I looked at him startled. I never saw him laughing like this before. He looks good while laughing. I shook my head remembering why he is laughing.
Maya: Why are you laughing? I don’t think I am that bad of a choice.
I said narrowing my eyes at him and he took a deep breath finally looking at me seriously.
Rudra: You know what the problem is Maya.You are not interested in any romantic relationship and neither am I.
He said pointedly and I nodded at him but then I looked at him baffled.
Maya: How do you I am not interested?
I asked looking at him suspiciously. He smiled and then looked at me smirking slightly.
Rudra: Your actions can deceive Maya but your eyes cannot.
He said and I looked at him stunned. I always knew he is an astute businessman but I never realized how he was observing me too .
Rudra: You eyes hold pain and anger.
He said and I looked down tensed. My eyes filled with tears remembering my past again and I blinked continuously to remove those tears.
Rudra: And broken pieces of heart can never love, it can just pricks.
He said as if he is thinking something and I looked up only to see him looking ahead absentmindedly. He is right. Broken pieces of heart can never love, it can only prick. I wiped my tears closing my eyes tightly. I don’t want to remember my past. Not here.

I came downstairs to look for Rish and Anu and saw everyone leaving the office. I looked at the clock only to see that it’s past office time.
Ananya: Are you coming with us?
Anu asked and I looked at her startled. Looks like she is leaving too. But I have to talk to Maya right now.
Rudra: No!! I am staying here with Maya, we have to finish the editing today only.
I told her and she sighed nodding at me. I know she thinks that I am taking interest in Maya, but my interest in Maya is for the sole reason that she is trying to find out about me and my family,while I know nothing about her.
Ananya: Let’s go now Rishi!!
She said dragging Rishi away with him and I came upstairs to my cabin and saw Maya sitting on the couch writing something.Its time she answers my question honestly.
Rudra: What games are you playing Maya?
I asked sitting on the chair in front of the couch and she looked at me startled.
Maya: I don’t understand what you are saying Rudra.
She said looking away tensed and I snorted at her. What does she take me for?
Rudra: You think I don’t understand what you are trying to show to Rish?
I asked and she stiffened looking at me frowning. I know she is playing a game with Rish. But what does she wants?
Maya: I want him to stay the hell away from me.
She said glaring at me and I shook my head amused. She is lying.
Rudra: No you don’t.
I said and she looked at me with wide eyes.
Rudra: You want him to linger around you like a lost puppy. He didn’t came here for a job by his own will. He came here because of you. Didn’t he?
I asked looking at her raising her eyebrow and she got up from the couch and moved towards the window tensed. After some times she turned to me and smirked slightly.
Maya: Not bad Mr. Roy.
She said smiling devilishly. I was right. She just looks like an angel, she is a devil.
Rudra: Who are you?
I asked looking at her sternly and the coldness is back in her eyes.
Maya: What’s the hurry? And why are you taking tension? I am doing the same thing what you want. By the end of this Rishi will be standing on his own feet.
She said looking at me determined and I shook my head at her. Yes!! I want Rishi to stand on his own feet, but not like this.He is not what he is becoming.
Rudra: But at the cost of his innocence. And I don’t want that.
I said looking at her narrowing my eyes and she sighed looking at me seriously.
Maya: He has to lose his innocence Rudra,if not to us then to your Dad. You think he will let Rishi go from his clutches this easily?
I stiffened hearing her. How does she know about my Dad?

I asked looking at her in alarm. Something is amiss here.

I asked looking at her and she shook her head smiling slightly. She sat on the couch again and picked up her pen and manuscript. I know she won’t be telling me anything now. Looks like Mr. Mrityunjay Roy has destroyed too many people, and may be Maya is one of them.
Maya: My book is not completed yet. Let me do my work.
She said in a reprimanding tone and I sat on my chair frowning. I looked at the paper on my desk curiously.
Rudra: What is this?
I asked picking up the paper and she looked up at me with a serious face.
Maya: This is the synopsis. You have to edit it. See if there is something extra or weird in it.
She said and I nodded at her finally getting some work. I can’t leave her here alone. And I can’t stay here without any work. It’s good that she gave this to me.

I looked up at the front door only to see Rishi coming in with Ananya. I frowned looking at both of them. Why are they both coming together? And where is Rudra?
Mrityunjay: Where is Rudra?
I asked and they both looked at me startled. Rishi sighed and sat beside me on the couch as if he is tired. Wait!! I thought he went to college but how come he is coming home at this time? That too with Ananya?
Ananya: He is with Maya. They are working on her latest book.
Ananya said shrugging and sat on the couch in front of me. I stiffened hearing about that lady again. Why is Rudra working on her latest book? Rudra never got involved with any writer before then what’s so special about this one?
Mrityunjay: I don’t think Rudra need to help that girl. She is a writer.
I said and Ananya looked at me tensed. But then her phone pinged and she looked at her phone only to grin like an idiot.Now what?
Ananya: This is great.
She shouted and I looked at her startled.
Rishi: What?
Rishi asked looking at Ananya curiously. Well even I want to know what’s that great?
Ananya: Maya has prepared the synopsis and Rudra loved it. He is going to release the synopsis tomorrow.
Ananya said and I stiffened looking at her. Rudra is taking his first step in being independent again and I will send him backwards tomorrow, by killing his one and only investor, Mr. Rajiv Chandra.
Mrityunjay: That’s good. When is he coming home Anu?
I asked looking at her smiling slightly and she smiled looking at me.
Ananya: They just left office, he will reach here in almost one hour.
She said and left for her apartment beside our house and Rishi went to his room wishing me good night. I keep sitting on the couch waiting for my another son to come back.

I asked as I saw him move past me. He didn’t even bother to acknowledge me. He turned around and looked at me as if he is suspicious about something.
Rudra: You really think I need to give explanations to you?
He asked looking at me slightly amused and I gritted my teeth annoyed. I know I can’t shout at him, he will only fight with me.
Mrityunjay: Were you with Maya?
I asked from him softly and he sighed looking at me seriously. His face was totally blank.
Rudra: Yes I was!! Now what will you do??Try to snatch her away just like before?
He asked raising his eyebrows and I closed my eyes feeling irritated. This is it!! Enough of his insults. I got up from my couch and glared at him.
Mrityunjay: I already told you, I did that to save you from her vile clutches.
I told him firmly and saw his expressions changing from neutral to raging in just a second. I can see his eyes spitting fire and I moved back slightly flinching.
Rudra: Do you really think I am interested in talking to YOU?
He asked looking at me snorting at me and I felt my coldness return. He knows pretty well what I am capable of and still he is behaving as if I can’t do anything to him.
Mrityunjay: You are putting your Maya’s life at risk here.
I told him in warning and he looks at me as if he is disgusted by me.
Rudra: You think I don’t know that? Trust me Mr. Mrityunjay Roy, if there was even a scratch on her, this Rudra will destroy your whole world.
He said with such a rage that even I felt taken aback. What has happened to him? He never defended any girl like this before, not even his so called love.
Rudra: And this is not a hollow threat. I WILL DO IT.
He said with a calm voice and yet his voice has the ability to tear you apart. I know if there was someone else here in place of me, he would have died by now of fear. But I am not Mrityunjay for no reason. I saw Aamir look at me tensed and I looked at him shaking my head.
Mrityunjay: For a second I felt as if Maya is not his writer but his girlfriend.
I said and he nodded looking at me worried.What is this Maya? Rishi is mad about her and now Rudra is going insane about her. What does she have that both my sons are behind her?
Aamir: His investor is coming in tomorrow’s party.
Aamir said and I took a deep breath nodding at him. His investor is coming. And I will see how Rudra publish this book of Maya without this investor of his.
Mrityunjay: He will not go back from here alive.
I told Aamir sternly and he nodded leaving the house. Let’s see till how long you can fight, Rudra Mrityunjay Roy. Whether you accept it or not, I AM your father, for better or for worse.
