Chapter 2

Maya’s POV:

Finally it’s time to meet Rudra Roy in his domain, i.e., his office. I smirked as I heard the cabin’s door opening. I know he will be super irritated at me as right now I am sitting in his chair.But he has to realize that now that I am here, I will be the boss. I am saving his company, so he has to do what I say.

Rudra: Hii!! I am Rudra. And this chair is mine.

I heard his voice but it doesn’t seems like he is irritated. He sounds normal.

Maya: Now it is mine.

I said turning around and he looked at me startled. Finally there is this anger that I wanted to see in his face.

Rudra: YOU!!

He looked at me gritting his teeth annoyed. But as far as I know him he won’t react. Mostly he doesn’t react when he is angry. He is an analyzer, I know that much about him.

Rudra: You are a writer here. And I am the owner of this company. So go out, knock the door and then when I will ask you who you are, then you have to tell your identity. Understood??

He said glaring at me and I smirked nodding at him. Let’s play this game as he wants, for time being. I went out of the room and he turned around to look at me as if he is trying to assess me. Not possible Rudra Roy. I knocked on the door and opened the door slightly.

Rudra: Yes??

He raised his eyebrow smirking at me and I tried not to laugh. He is going to regret this big time.

Maya: Maya Jaisingh. Writer and Investor of your company.

I said coming inside and he looked at me shocked. Good for him. He should be shocked. I am going to turn his whole life. I will decide his fate.

Rudra: What??

He looked at me startled and I sat on his chair again.

Maya: So you see I am 40% investor in your company.

I said and he turned to look at me with an annoyed face. I know he is angry and it is commendable that he is not reacting but he is just looking at me as if he will find everything by looking at me.

Rudra: If you already decided to invest in my company then what was that drama that was going on from last 3 days??

He asked putting both of his hands on the desk in front of me and looked at me irritated. Well!! That was his test. Test of his character. Whether he is as strong as he shows or not.

Maya: I just wanted to check that how low can a rich father’s son can hit, before flying high up in the sky of his dreams.

I told him smirking and saw his eyes flare in response. I know that he hates his father with a passion. I know something happened in the past. But I don’t know what. And I don’t even want to know. I just want him to fulfill my revenge. That’s it. All of a sudden I felt my chair got turned and I looked up to see Rudra glaring at me. I gripped the chair tightly. I don’t like when someone come this close to me.

Though with Rudra I don’t feel that much uncomfortable and that is really irritating. He is a Roy for god's sake, no matter how high his moral standards are.

Rudra: First things first. I am not a rich father’s son. I don’t live on his money. I live on my self respect. And you know what the biggest problem is with self respect?

He said glaring at me and I raised my eyebrows at him. It is interesting to see MJ’s son teaching about self respect. But I know Rudra believes in what he is saying. He is honest, at least this much is clear to me.

Rudra: That it doesn’t consider anyone above itself. Not any father, not any writer, not an investor. So you see. I. Don’t. Need. You.

He looked at me in challenge and left the cabin angrily. I took a deep breath looking at his retreating form. He has no idea what hits him this time.

Maya: I will become your need Rudra and you won’t even realize it.

I said smirking to myself. But for now I understood one thing, that I can’t manipulate him. His honesty is his biggest weakness. He wants truth and he will get it. I will win him over by my honesty only. With him I have to be the real Maya. I can’t deceive him and I don’t need to deceive him.

Rudra’s POV:

I opened my car’s door only to hear someone’s footsteps behind me. I know it has to be that devil lady. I shut the door with a force and turned around to glare at her. I can sense that she is playing a game here. A game which is deadly. And I don’t want to be a pawn to her. Never again would I be a pawn in someone’s game.

Maya: Passion, Loyalty and Commitment. These three things matter very much to me Rudra. Its my right to test whether you deserve me or not. Right??

She asked looking at me smiling slightly and I rolled my eyes at her. Why would I even trust her?? She is a player and this is her game. But what is her destination??

Maya: Rudra!! I know you need me.

She said looking at me and I took a deep breath feeling the anger rising again. Never again would I involve myself in someone’s treacherous game. I won’t let anyone use me again. After all I learnt from the best, Mr. Mrityunjay Roy.

Rudra: I don’t need you Maya. I never needed you. And I will never need you.

I told her clear cut and for a second she looked at me startled but then started smiling at me. What is wrong with her??

Maya: You are too proud Rudra. But even you know that I am the only key to your success. You can only win with Maya by your side.

She said smirking and I felt like killing someone right now. The biggest problem is my win would be very easy with her by my side. But I am not afraid of hardships. If I need to obey this lady to win then I think I will prefer to lose. Cause I know she is not trustworthy. At least not now.

Maya: You were right.

She said softly and I looked at her narrowing my eyes. What is she talking about now?

Maya: You said that I will forward my hand next time towards you. So.

She said forwarding her hand and I looked at her hand startled. What is she planning? And why is she here?

Maya: Come on Rudra. What are you thinking?? I am everything that you ever wanted.

She said smiling and I looked at her startled. What is with her and such cheesy dialogues?? I feel as if she is not proposing business, but she is proposing for marriage, as if she is trying to seduce me. Hah!! As if it’s possible. I took a deep breath and shook her hand nodding at her. But still I won’t give her full reign ever. She will work under me not the other way round.

Rudra: Tell me one thing Maya.

I asked looking at he and she flinched slightly removing her hand from mine. Sometimes I feel as if she hates if someone touches her. She looked at me curiously.

Rudra: Are you flirting?? What is with you and your dialogues??

I asked and she stiffened glaring at me. The Maya Jaisingh is back.

Maya: I don’t flirt.

She said gritting her teeth and I tried not to laugh.

Rudra: It doesn’t look like it.

I told her as a matter of fact and she looked ready to commit murder. I have to say the fire in her eyes is enough to melt stones. But not me.

Maya: Shut up and let’s go. We have to sign the contract.

She said and went inside. Great!! Now she is showing me attitude that too in my office. Just great!! I came inside my cabin and saw her sitting on the chair in front of mine. Thank god!! She is not in the mood to fight. I sat on my chair and took out the contract from the drawer.

Rudra: This is your contract. Ruan Publications is going to sign you for next 3 years.

I told her and she nodded looking at me. She looked down at the contract but then looked at me frowning. Now what??

Maya: I have a condition before I sign this contract.

She said and I felt like throwing something on her head. But right now I have to stay calm. And by the way what is her problem? She and her conditions.

Rudra: Condition?? Again?? Now what!!You want to marry me??

I asked looking at her bored and she looks at me narrowing her eyes. As if I will get scared of her. If I can handle my father’s anger then she is nothing in front of me.

Maya: I want you to sign this.

She said forwarding some papers and I looked at it confused. What is this now??

Rudra: What is this??

I asked and she put the papers in front of me indicating me to look at it. I shook my head reading the papers. This is insane.

Rudra: Confidentiality Agreement? Are you mad? If you won’t come in front of media or anyone, how will I sell your books.

I asked feeling frustrated at her.This woman will make me insane one day. I really don’t get her. She is so confusing.

Maya: I want to sell my work not myself.

She said looking at me firmly. Now what can I do?? She is right in some way I think. But still it would have been easier if she became a public figure. But everyone has their priorities I guess. And by the way I am not signing any document given by her just like that.

Rudra: I don’t trust you a bit. So let me get it crosschecked.

I told her and she nodded smirking at me as if she expected that from me. I clicked the pictures and sent them to my lawyer. Its better if I am assured about all this. I don’t want to repeat my mistakes. Maya is too shady for her own good.

My phone pinged and I looked down to see the message of the lawyer. Finally I got his approval so its fine to sign this document I guess. I signed the documents shaking my head. Confidentiality Agreement?? Seriously?? This is over the top.

Rudra: Happy??

I gave the papers back to her smiling widely. She rolled her eyes looking at me.

Ananya: Rudra!!

I looked towards the door of the cabin only to see Anu enter the cabin. Well now I have to introduce her to Maya as she is looking at Maya suspiciously. And honestly I have no hopes from Maya.

Rudra: Anu. She is Maya Jaisingh. And Maya she is Ananya, my best friend and my business partner.

I said introducing both of them and Maya got up from her chair as Anu looked at Maya in awe.

Ananya: You are THE MAYA JAISINGH??

She asked almost shouting and Maya looked at Anu as if she is weird. I tried not to laugh at Maya’s expressions.

Ananya: You know I am the biggest fan of yours.

Anu said grabbing Maya’s hands and Maya nodded at her smiling weirdly. I am sure Anu is enough to make Maya mad here.I looked down at the papers and remembered that Anu needs to sign this too.

Rudra: Anu!! Sign this.

I said forwarding the papers to Anu and she looked at the papers frowning.

Ananya: Confidentiality agreement?? But why?

Anu asked looking at the papers and I looked at Maya raising my eyebrows. She stiffened looking at me. Great!!

Rudra: Sign it Anu. Trust me.

I blinked my eyes at her and she sighed signing the documents. Thank god she has this much trust in me.

Maya: Thank you.

Maya said looking at me and I nodded at her. I agree she is super weird but I think there is some very big reason for this weirdness of hers.

MJ’s POV:

I can’t believe what I am hearing. My ever efficient PA is not able to find a mere writer?? That too an internationally acclaimed writer? This is really weird.

Mrityunjay: Are you sure Aamir??

I asked looking at him slightly irritated. He looked at me tensed. This is getting out of hand now.

Aamir: Yes Sir!! This Maya looks like an illusion. As if she doesn’t even exist. No one saw her.Ever.

He said and I gritted my teeth hearing the information. How will I remove her from Rudra’s life if I don’t even know how she looks?? I sighed and looked at Aamir sternly. I just hope he found out about the investors.

Mritunjay: And what about that company??

I asked and he stiffened looking at me worried. Don’t tell me that he can’t find the company too.

Aamir: You won’t believe who is behind that company.

He said and I looked at him curiously.Means he knows who is investing in Rudra’s company?

Mrityunjay: Who??

I asked looking at him seriously. No matter whoever comes between Rudra and me, I will remove every single barrier between us.

Aamir: Rajiv Chandra.

I looked at him stunned hearing the name. I know only one person by this name, and I had destroyed him completely.How the hell can he come again?? Wait!! What if this one is different from the previous one?

Mrityunjay: The same??

I asked gritting my teeth and looked at him sternly.

Aamir: Yes.

He nodded and I clenched my fists feeling myself going back in time. He can’t come back in our lives and certainly not as Rudra’s company’s investor.

Mrityunjay: Invite him in the party.

I told him and he nodded looking at me frowning. This time this founder’s party will change Rudra’s life again, but for better.

Mrityunjay: He will come in the party but he won’t go from this party alive. No one can come between me and Rudra.

I said clenching the glass tightly in my hands. And this Maya has to come before me. She has to leave our lives. At any cost. Even if I have to take her life.

Mrityunjay: And yes dig about this Maya more hardly. I want every single information about her.

I instructed Aamir sternly. He came in front of me and I can see he is looking like he is in some deep thoughts.

Aamir: It looks like she is not what she is showing herself. I mean I doubt if Rudra or Ananya met this writer. She never meets anyone.

He said looking at me tensed. I don’t care whether anyone met her or not, but I want to meet her. To warn her and if needed to eliminate her existence from our world.

Mrityunjay: We will see.

I said having my drink. Rudra needs to understand that his every path will lead to only one destination, i.e.,Mrityunjay Roy. He is my son and he will always be my son, whether he acknowledge it or not, it doesn’t matters.

Aamir: What the!!

I heard Aamir swearing loudly and I looked at him only to see him looking at his phone with wide eyes. Now what happened?? He looked up at me tensed and I indicated him to tell about the matter.

Aamir: Rudra signed cofidentiality agreement with this writer.

He said and I smirked finally getting the way to remove this writer from Rudra’s company.

Mrityunjay: Good!! It’s our duty to let the fans meet their favorite writer.

I said smirking and saw Aamir looking at me smiling slightly. I know he will understand what I am saying. Rudra himself gave me the way to eliminate this writer. Now he will have no way other than taking my help.

Ananya’s POV:

I looked up startled as I heard the sound of clicking of cameras and I couldn’t believe what I saw. Why are they all here?? Who called them??

Ananya: What are you all doing here??

I asked looking at all the media persons stunned. This is so not happening. Maya will sue us if this happens.

Reporter: This press conference is arranged by Mr. MJ. We all know that you signed Ms. Maya Jaisingh as a writer. So this press conference is for her to meet her fans. Finally she will be coming in front of us.

One of them said looking at us excited and I turned around gulping nervously. I am sure MJ uncle wanted good for us but we have signed a confidentiality agreement. We will be 6 feet under if Maya came in front of these people.

Ananya: We are so dead.

I mumbled to myself and then remembered that I should tell Rudra about all this. I called him and he picked up after some time.

Rudra: Hello??

I heard his cheerful voice and shook my head hearing the talks of the media. They all are very excited to meet Maya.And we can’t let that happen at any cost.

Ananya: Rudra. Where is Maya?

I asked looking around tensed.

Rudra: She left the cabin just now. She is coming downstairs I think.

He said and I felt my breath stop. Oh freak!! She can’t come here.

Ananya: Rudra!! Media is here in the front gate. Do something.

I whisper shouted and heard him take a deep breath. Damn it!! We are so dead.

Rudra: Shit!!

I heard Rudra swear and then he cut the call. I just hope Rudra can do something in time.

Ananya: Excuse me!!

I said to everyone and ran towards the lift. May be Maya is coming from the lift? What did you do MJ Uncle??

Rudra’s POV:

I can’t believe this. How did all this happen?? How can media come here when we didn’t call them? And for god sake how do they know that Maya is here? I ran downstairs and saw Maya moving towards the front gate. Damn it to hell!! She will be exposed and our company will bear the brunt of it. I can’t let it happen. I ran as hard as I could and pulled her towards a secluded corner without letting anyone find out. I took a deep breath finally relaxing and turned slightly only to see Maya looking at me slightly scared. What is wrong with her?? Her eyes show intense pain and fear. It’s as if all of this being confident is a facade.

I moved back stumbling and grabbed the railing to support myself and looked up startled only to see Maya glaring at me.

Maya: How dare you!!

She shouted and I took a deep breath trying not to react. Maya and her mood swings. I am fed up of all this.

Maya: And what is all this?? You broke the contract Mr. Roy.

She said looking at me in warning and I looked at her irritated. Does she think I am this fickle? Why would I even call the press if I knew its repercussions?

Rudra: You think I called them?

I asked looking at her and she looked at me as if she doesn’t trust me even a bit. Fine then!! But why is she hyperventilating? No one saw her and she remains hidden even now. Then what is the problem?

Rudra: I didn’t. And by the way no one saw you. So you can relax.

I told her and she looked as if she is ready to murder someone.

Maya: Relax?? What if anyone saw me??

She shouted and I looked at her confused. What is wrong with this lady? So what if anyone saw her? She is behaving as if she is here for something other than business.

Rudra: So?? Maya are you a terrorist or a writer??

I asked and she flinched back looking at me startled. She is behaving as if she is a criminal and she needs to hide at any cost.

Rudra: What are you hiding? Are you here to kill someone? To take revenge? To harm someone?

I asked and saw her clenching her fists. I am sure she has some hidden agenda for coming here. And I will find out about it. But before I could say anything else I saw Anu coming towards us running.

Ananya: Maya I am really sorry. I didn’t know uncle will do all this. He wanted to show the world that how proud he is of Rudra. He didn’t know about the agreement.

Anu said and I felt my blood boil. How could he?? And Anu really thinks that MJ doesn’t know about our contract? I am 200% sure that he did all this because he knows about our agreement.

Rudra: Wait!! Mr. Roy did this??

I asked looking at Anu sternly and she looked at me tensed. He has crossed his limits today.

Ananya: Rudra!!

Anu grabbed my arm and I glared at her. No one can stop me today. I will shred that vicious man into pieces today.

Rudra: He is so going to be dead.

I warned Anu and shrugged her hands away. Right now I have some work but I will have ample time to fight with him at home.

Ananya: Rudra!!

She shouted but I don’t want to listen anything. I moved towards my cabin angrily.

Ananya: I am sorry Maya.

I heard Anu say to Maya and honestly I don’t care now. I want to stay alone for some time. This life of mine is getting weird day by day and I am frustrated beyond measure.

Maya’s POV:

I can see Rudra pacing in Ananya’s cabin angrily and I hate to admit it but I felt good to see that he is man enough to adhere to the terms of the contract. I heard my phone ringing and looked down only to see Rajiv’s call.

Rajiv: Maya MJ’s pet is searching for you fervently.

I heard Rajiv’s amused voice as soon as I picked the call. No matter how hard you try Aamir, you won’t get anything about me. Not now, not ever, not till I want you to know about me.

Maya: But he won’t get anything about me.

I said and heard Rajiv chuckle lightly.

Rajiv: Right. Cause Maya is just what her name is. Illusion.

He said softly and I smirked hearing his dialogue. He is right. Maya is just an illusion. And no one can handle this illusion.

Rajiv: You know you are invited in the Founder’s Party.

I heard Rajiv’s voice and felt my heart beating loudly. Founder’s party. A party which changed my life completely.

Maya: I will come.

I told him and heard him take a deep breath. I know I have to think something about how to come out from the party. All this is just a maze and I have to find out the way to come out of it before I can enter in it.

Rajiv: Are you sure??

I took a deep breath making up my mind. I have to do all this.

Maya: I am.

I said and cut the call but all of a sudden I felt the voice of same steps. Steps of my tormentor. Steps whose sound still echoes in my ears. Steps that instill fear in my heart, mind and body. I moved back scared looking at the door. This can’t happen. He can’t see me here.I can’t stay here. I can’t let him find me. I ducked down behind sofa and pressed my hand to calm myself. My heart is still scared of the way it has been treated by that devil. I can fight from the whole world but not from MJ, that’s why I need Rudra with me. But the question is- Will he fight with his own father?

I felt him coming closer and I closed my eyes tightly trying to calm myself but it is not possible. His name is enough to terrify me. What to do? Where to go? I heard the cabin’s door open and for a second my breath stopped.

Rudra: MR. MRITYUNJAY ROY!!

I heard Rudra’s loud voice echoing inthe whole office and then the cabin’s door got closed and I could take breath again. Thank god Rudra is here.

Rudra: Do you want to meet someone??

I heard Rudra asking in a rude voice and I know he is confronting his dad. I don’t want to see MJ, at least not now.

Mrityunjay: Rudra!! I just want to congratulate you. I am proud of you my boy.

I heard his voice and I tried to close my ears with my palms. I don’t want to hear his voice again.

Rudra: Wait!! First thing, I am not your boy. Cause I am a man of my own Mr. Roy. And I know you are not here to congratulate me, you are here to see if I am still capable to survive or not.

I heard Rudra’s voice and I took a deep breath moving below the desk. I can’t handle his voice. I just can’t. I bend my knees and kept my arms on them and then hide my head in my arms closing my eyes tightly. I don’t want to hear his voice. I don’t!!

MJ’s POV:

I closed my eyes looking at the man in front of me. Yes!! He is right. He is a man. He is not my boy anymore. He hasn’t been my boy since last 10 years.

Mrityunjay: Rudra!! Don’t make a scene.

I told him softly and saw his eyes flared again.

Rudra: Scene?? I am making a scene?? And what about you?? You made my life a joke. What about that??

He asked looking at me as if he is challenging me and I flinched looking at him. He doesn’t need to bring that past in every single thing.

Mrityunjay: Rudra!!

I glared at him and saw him rolling his eyes. I can never tolerate if someone insults me but somewhere down the line I know that I am the reason of Rudra’s pain, and till he is in pain, he won’t give in.

Rudra: I know you love to control everyone. You think everyone will do what you want, but I won’t. I won’t do anything that you want Mr. Mrityunjay Roy. This life is mine. And I will live it as I want. I am not your so called puppet.

He said glaring at me and I took a deep breath to calm myself. It hurts to see him calling me by my given name. I didn’t hear Dad from his mouth from last 10 years.

Mrityunjay: I know. You are my son. And if I want you to join my business then what is wrong in that?? What is wrong in wanting your son to continue your legacy??

I asked looking at him slightly pleading and he looked ready to kill someone. What is wrong in waiting for him to come back to me?

Rudra: Then ask your son to do it. I am sure Rishi will do it happily. I am no son of yours.

He said and I clenched my fists annoyed. Till when will he deny being my blood, my son?? He is mine and that is the ultimate truth.

Mrityunjay: You have my blood.

I said moving one step ahead towards him and glared at him. I saw him closing his eyes and then he opened them angrily.

Rudra: And I still regret this fact.

He said and I gritted my teeth irritated. He can’t change his blood so he has to bear with me for this life as a father.

Rudra: Security!!

Rudra shouted and I looked at him startled. What the!! Why is he doing all this?

Mrityunjay: You will call security for your Dad??

I asked looking at him in warning but he looked unfazed as if he doesn’t care about anything now.

Rudra: I don’t want any disturbance. Send him out.

He said to security and the man looked down tensed. Rudra glared at that man and he sighed coming towards me.

Guard: Sorry Sir!!

He said and I shook my head at him. Rudra is getting out of hand now. He has to know and understand that no matter what, I am his father. He has to respect me. I sighed and moved out of the building. Today I can’t meet the author but I will meet her pretty soon. And then I will warn her to stay out of our world.

Rudra’s POV:

I took a deep breath feeling irritated beyond words. I don’t want to even see his face but I have to live under one roof with him. And now he came here too. How could he? This office is my own.This office is mine. He cannot come here just like that. I didn’t give him permission to enter in my life. He lost that right when he betrayed me that day.

Ananya: Rudra!! Why did you talked to him like that?? He was so upset.

I heard Ananya’s voice and closed my eyes trying not to lash out at her. She has no idea how that Mrityunjay Roy is.

Rudra: He deserves to be upset. No!!He deserve to die.

I snapped and she looked at me stunned.

Ananya: RUDRA!!

She shouted glaring at me and then left behind that man. I clenched my fists trying to control myself. She doesn’t know what a scheming and manipulating swine Mrityunjay Roy is. Who knows what havoc he created in people’s worlds. When he didn’t left his son out of his scheming, when he can destroy his son completely, the son whom he profess to love so much, then who knows how low he went to establish his whole empire. I don’t want to handle an empire that stands on others’ blood.

I shook my head and entered my cabin only to see it empty. Wait!! Maya was inside only. Where did she go?? I looked around to see her purse on the couch. Her purse is here?? That means she has to be here. But where is she?? May be she went outside??

I turned around but then I felt some movement under my desk. I bend down and saw Maya rocking herself sitting with her head bend between her knees. I can hear her sobs. I can’t believe this.

Rudra: Maya??

I called her softly and she looked up with so much pain and fear in her eyes that I felt my heart skip a beat. What has happened to her?? Is she this much scared of people?

Rudra: Maya!! What’s wrong??

I asked softly and she shifted back slightly shivering. Damn!! She looks broken.

Rudra: Relax. It’s me. Rudra. Please come out.

I said forwarding my hand to her and she looked at my hand scared. I never thought I would see Maya in this state.She is an independent and strong lady.

Rudra: Trust me Maya. I won’t let anything happen to you. Come out. Please.

I called her softly and she put her hand in mine slowly but then she grabbed my arm and launched towards me grabbing my collar tightly and started crying putting her had on my chest. She is shivering, she is scared. I took a deep breath unable to comprehend her situation.

Rudra: Hey Relax. Media is not out there. They have gone. Everything is fine. Relax.

I said softly and patted her hair so that she can stop crying. I felt her crying reduce but she started sobbing softly.

All of a sudden she moved back and wiped her tears looking at me tensed. I know she doesn’t want to show her vulnerable side to anyone. I know cause I struggle with the same fate every single day.

Rudra: Are you okay?

I asked her softly and she nodded moving out from the cabin. I saw Anu come inside and she looked at me frowning.I took a deep breath trying to forget everything. Today was really weird. First that media, then MJ and now this Maya. I am so out of all this tensions for today.

Anu indicated towards her watch and I looked at the time only to see that its lunch time. Good!! At least I can freshen up my mind. I nodded at her and we both came out from the building.

Ananya: Today was really exhausting. So we are going for lunch right?

She asked and I smiled looking at her.This day is actually emotionally exhausting.

Rudra: Yep. And we will....

I started saying but then Anu ran towards somewhere. I looked at her only to see her standing in front of Maya who is searching something in her purse. Now what?? I went towards them and saw Maya looking at me tensed.

Ananya: Hey Maya!! Will you join us??

Anu asked and I looked at her startled. What is she doing??

Maya: Where??

Maya asked looking at Anu confused.Honestly Maya is looking shaken up even now, but I know she won’t like anyone interfering.

Ananya: For lunch.

Anu asked and I tried not to hit her head. This girl has gone mad for sure.

Maya: No. I am fine.

Maya said shaking her head in a no and I can see that Anu is going to say something.

Rudra: See!! She is fine Anu. Let her be.

I said and started dragging her away from her arm but she shrugged my hand and went towards Maya again.

Ananya: Look Maya we have to work together now. So we should be friend right??

Anu said forwarding her hand to Maya and Maya looked at her hand as if someone is giving her poison. And what is wrong with this Anu?? She wants to be friends? That too with Maya?

Rudra: Friends??

I looked at her almost in disgust. Friendship with Maya is impossible.

Maya: Ananya. Let our relationship be professional only.

Maya said looking at Anu sternly and I tried not to laugh at Anu’s expressions. I dragged her away and hit her head lightly.

Rudra: Are you mad?? Friends and that too with her??

I asked looking at her exasperated and she sighed looking at me determined.

Ananya: You know she will say no first but then she will agree to it herself.

She said grinning and I rolled my eyes at her. She is really mad if she thinks like this.

Rudra: She will always say no. No matter what. And if she wants to stay alone. Then let her be Anu.

I told her almost sternly. I saw Maya lost her cool today. I saw her vulnerable today. She is broken, her pain was very visible in her fear and I don’t want Anu to go near her.

Ananya: But...

Anu was going to say something when we heard a car struck the barriers. We looked towards the voice only to see Maya pulling the brakes. Oh god!!

Rudra: Oh shit!!

I swore and ran towards her car along with Anu. This Maya has lost her mind today.

Rudra: Maya you okay??

I asked opening her car’s door and she looked at me startled at first but then she composed herself and nodded at me.I can see she is still disturbed. She would never reach her home safely like this.

Rudra: Let me drop you.

I said to her softly and saw her stiffen slightly. I can understand she is too independent to call for help. But I have to see that she is fine otherwise what will happen to my company??

Maya: I am fine. I can go by myself.

She said looking at me almost sternly and I looked at her bored. I know she can go by herself. The question is whether she will reach in a single piece or not.

Rudra: Look I am doing this for myself. I just signed you. And if anything happens to you then what will happen to my company?? So please??

I said indicating her to shift to passenger’s side and she looked at me frowning. But then she sighed and opened her seat belt.

Maya: Fine!!

She said shifting to passenger’s side and I nodded at Anu sliding on the driver’s seat. I started the car and looked at Maya only to see her looking outside tensed.

Rudra: Are you okay??

I asked and she nodded still looking out. She is really disturbed and all this just because of media? I don’t think so. But what else had happened in the office other than the appearance of media and MJ?? Wait!! Mrityunjay Roy. I looked at her startled. Can he be the reason?? But why?

Maya’s POV:

I know it is weak of me but I can’t handle myself right now. His voice is still reverberating in my ears. This fear is not reducing. But I have to make myself strong. I have to fight him. How will I fight him without ever facing him?? I looked at the man at the driving seat with a side glance. How can this man face MJ without any fear. I heard Rudra fighting with MJ. And I heard him insulting MJ. If I hadn’t been scared then I would have been on cloud nine. I never saw MJ getting insulted. For once I want to see MJ’s face when someone put him in his place.

Rudra: I think you should go to club rather than your home.

I looked at Rudra startled only to see him forwarding my phone towards me. I looked down only to see Rishi’s message as he wants to meet me in the club. Damn!! This Rishi is getting on my nerves now. Its time that he finally gets his due warning.

Rudra: Give me his number too. Maybe I need your chemist too.

I looked at Rudra only to see him winking at me. If only he got to know that this chemist is his brother only,then he will kill me. I was going to tell him to shut up his mouth when my phone started ringing. I looked down to see city hospital’s number.

Maya: Hello?

I picked up the call confused about why they could be calling me.

Doctor: Mam!! Your mother is here for checkup. And she is alone here. So thought to inform you.

I gulped hearing the sentence. No!!What happened to mom??

Maya: What!! I am coming.

I said and cut the call looking around frantically. I have to go to my Mom. Right now!!

Maya: Take me to city hospital please.

I asked looking at Rudra and he stopped the car looking at me frowning.

Rudra: City hospital?? Is everything okay?

He asked looking at me tensed but I don’t have time to explain anything.

Maya: Rudra my mom. Please take me to city hospital. Please.

I joined my hands in front of him and he looked at me startled. I don’t mind pleading in front of him right now. I want to reach to my mom as fast as I can.

Rudra: Okay!! Okay!! Relax. I will take you there.

He said and started the car again and I closed my eyes praying for my mother. Nothing can happen to her. She is the only one alive whom I can call mine. I can’t lose her too.

After almost 25 minutes Rudra stopped the car in the hospital parking lot. We both came down and I ran inside to ask about my Mom. I got to know the room no. and we reached the room only to see Ma laying down on the hospital bed.

Maya: Ma!! What happened?? How are you??

I asked running towards her and she sighed shaking her head.

Nandini: Nothing happened to me. I told them not to inform you. But they never listened to me.

She said and tried to sit up. I put some pillows behind her head and made her sit up. She has no idea that she is not completely sane. She is fragile and one shock can take her life. She has no idea how vulnerable she is.

Maya: I told you to take care of yourself but you never listen to me.

I said glaring at her and she smiled placing her hand on my head shaking her head. I tried not to let my tears flow but its impossible for me to stop now. I hugged her tightly feeling scared. If anyone got to know about her then I am sure they will use her against me. I looked up only to see Rudra looking at me smiling slightly. I broke the hug and wiped my tears. This is the second time I broke down in front of him.

Maya: Now let’s leave from here.

I said and helped my Mom to get up from the bed and brought her out of the hospital. I made her sit on the passenger’s side and then sat on the driver’s side only to remember about my book. I looked around but it is nowhere. I remember it was with me when I came here. Then where is it now?

Nandini: Maya?? What happened??

I saw Ma looking at me tensed and I sighed shaking my head at her. Looks like I forgot it in the hospital room only.

Maya: My Bhagwad Geeta. Looks like I forgot it in the room. You stay in the car. I will just come.

I told her sternly and she nodded at me. I came to the room only to see it empty. I looked around but there is nothing here. Damn!! Where is my book??

Rudra: That’s rude of you.

I turned around abruptly hearing Rudra’s voice. What does he want now??

Rudra: I came here with you and you were going to leave me here??

He asked and I took a deep breath looking at him irritated. As if he has no means to go home from here. The whole hospital knows him.

Rudra: I think you were searching for this??

He said forwarding my book and I snatched it from him. I came out and felt him tagging along with me. Honestly he unnerves me. I always knew he is strong, but he has a past too. Is he not bothered by it?? How can he remain this cheerful with such a horrible past.Though I don’t know about it but it has to be horrible if he hates his Dad this much.

Rudra: Did you ever thought that if you could be a Don too. It suits you.

I heard him and rolled my eyes entering into the lift. After some time the lift halts abruptly and I frowned looking around. This is what we just want.

Rudra: What is this??

I heard Rudra’s voice and looked at him curiously. He is sweating and is looking tensed.

Rudra: Will anyone open this door.

He tried to shout but I can see his tension. He is panicking.

Rudra: No one is opening.

He said looking at me taking deep breaths and turned around to pace in the whole lift. Interesting!! So he is claustrophobic. He took off his coat and took deep breaths sweating.

Maya: Feeling suffocated??

I asked looking at him and he nodded slightly. At least he is in the position to listen. Let’s take another test of him. Let’s see how much he can endure and if he can break free of his fear or not.

Maya: Feels like the space is too small??

I asked again and he nodded pacing around like a caged tiger. It is soothing to see that I am not the only one who is terrified of something.

Maya: Sometimes later the lights would be switched off. And then everything will be dark.

I said and he looked at me startled but then looked around in panic as the lights are switched off.

Maya: Don’t worry you will see nothing when you die.

I said and he sat down taking a deep breaths. Anyone can tell that he will be going to suffocate himself to death.Now this is the time to break free of his past. To let go of his fears. Let’s see if you can do it or not, Rudra Roy.

Rudra’s POV:

I took deep breaths trying not to collapse. I don’t take lifts often because I hate such situations. And to top of it this Maya and her talks.

Maya: You know our eyes remains open at the time of death. You know why??

I looked up at her tensed. I have no strength to listen to her. I closed my eyes trying to forget that I am in a closed lift but its of no use.

Maya: Because they were trying to find that one hope which can save them. But that one support never comes.

She said and I looked at her feeling my eyes getting blurry with tears. What is wrong with this lady. Normally people try to give hope to others but his lady is hell bent on seeing me dead.I saw her sitting in front of me and I took a deep breath trying to keep my eyes open. Don’t tell me this lady is the last person whom I am going to see before dying. I don’t want this. Not now.

Maya: That hope comes from inside Rudra. Only YOU can save yourself.

She said with a strong voice and I felt myself looking at the door tensed. Can I open it?? I have to if I want to live. But how? I forwarded my hand towards the door only to remember the snippets again. My Dad and her together in a lift. I closed my eyes putting my hand down but I felt someone grab my hand tightly. I looked up to see Maya grabbing my hand tightly and she started moving my hand towards the door. I feel panic rising inside me remembering THEM again. NO!! I can’t do this.

Rudra: Leave me.

I said feeling defeated all of a sudden.

Maya: If you let your past bind you, then you could never win. Let it go Rudra. Break all your limits today, be limitless. You can do it.

I heard her and she put my hand on the door forcefully. I opened my eyes looking at the door harshly. This has to let me go today. I am not going to be bounded by all this. I am Rudra Roy. I never lose. I got up and grabbed the door trying to open it with all my strength.

Finally after three tries I was able to open it and I ran outside for fresh air. I remember her. My Avni. The girl who taught me what love is, who taught me what betrayal is. Who taught me to die in love if needed to, and who taught me to kill my own love. Why?? WHY ME??

I closed my eyes letting the raindrops sooth my invisible pain. For whole world Rudra Roy is someone who has the courage and strength to fight with Mrityunjay Roy, his own father and an enigma, but in real, Rudra roy is a broken man, whose destruction is written by none other than his own father.

I saw an umbrella above my head and turned to look at the woman responsible for this attempt of mine. I never thought that one day I will fight against my past, my bad memories, but I did today.

Maya: Only YOU should have the right to bound yourself. Not any past, not any hatred, not any love and not anyone else. The day you will understand this, you will emerge as a conqueror.

She said smiling slightly and went towards her car. May be she is right, but somewhere I know that she is wrong too. She knows what has to be done, yet she herself is still entangled in her past. I came and sat in the back seat of the car.

Nandini: Rudra?? You okay??

I heard Aunty’s tensed voice and looked up to see her looking at me worried. How strange!! My own father is responsible for my miseries and Maya’s mother is concerned about me.

Rudra: Yes Aunty. You don’t worry.

I told her smiling slightly and she nodded looking ahead again. Maya dropped me in front of my office and I took my car and headed towards my home. No!! That is no home of mine. That is Mrityunjay Roy’s mansion. And I am there just because of my mother. The day I got to know that my mother is in an unwanted relationship will be the day I will end this best family show off of Mr. Roy. I came inside my room and took off my wet shirt and looked in the mirror.

I closed my eyes remembering Maya’swords and her actions.

Rudra: You are right Maya. No one should have the right to bound you. But you were wrong too. I cannot and will not break all my limits. I cannot be boundless. I cannot be another MJ.

I whispered to myself softly. These limits that I have set for myself is the only thing that separates me from MJ. And I won’t let anyone remove them from my life.

Mrityunjay: Rudra!!

I felt my anger rising hearing his voice again. I looked up in the mirror only to see him standing at the door. I gritted my teeth as I saw him trying to come inside.

Rudra: Don’t!! This is my room. And YOU don’t belong here.

I glared at him and went to my wardrobe and wore a t-shirt. I turned around only to see Mr. Roy standing before me with a furious expression on his face. Any lower person would have crumbled beneath his anger, but not me. Never me. He can’t scare me again. He had already done his worst with me. Now he can’t do anything else. I have nothing to lose.

Mrityunjay: You did wrong today Rudra. How could you talk to me like that?? That too in front of so many people??

He asked looking at me angrily and I looked at him amused. As always he is not angry because I insulted him. He is angry because I insulted him before so many people. I wonder how this man can live like this. Is he so hollow from inside?

Rudra: Why?? Felt bad? But you shouldn’t Mr. Roy. After all you have lost all rights on me 10 years ago.

I told him smirking and he looked at me shaking his head.

Mrityunjay: I did everything for you Rudra.

He said softly and I closed my eyes trying to control my anger. I could kill this man right now, this much angry I am with him. But I am not a monster.

Rudra: Yes!! You did everything for me. To destroy me, to control me and to finish my morals and ethics. But you know what?? I am not Mrityunjay Roy’s son. I AM RUDRA ROY!!

I shouted at the end and he moved back slightly looking at me stunned. I know I must have been looking like a vision right now but I don’t care how I talk to him. I want to live in peace.

Mrityunjay: Bhai!! Stop talking to Dad like this.

I saw Rishi storming inside the room glaring at me. Who is he to teach me how to talk to this man or not?? He has no idea how his dad is.

Rudra: Now YOU!! Don’t you dare tell me what is right and what is wrong. You have no idea how vile this man is.But don’t worry, you will get to know soon enough. Let him meet your love then you will know what treachery he is capable of.

I said looking at MJ smirking and he flinched looking at me tensed.

Rishi: BHAI!! STOP IT!!

Rishi shouted and I glared at him.Honestly!! I want to laugh right now. Rishi is exactly same as I was before that incident. Trusting this man blindly, but he himself made me see his true colours.

Mrityunjay: Rishi. Stop. Is this the way to talk to your elder brother??

He said and I snorted at his talks.Wow!! What an actor he is.

Rishi: Look at him Bhai. You were insulting him and he was telling me not to insult you.

Rishi said looking at me as if he is disgusted by me and I felt myself snap finally. I can’t handle all this anymore. I don’t want to talk to them right now. I want to be alone. I want peace. I am fed up of all these lies.

Rudra: Leave.

I said looking at both of them in a low voice but I know anyone can hear the anger in my tone.

Mrityunjay: Rudra.

That MJ tried to touch my arms but I moved back and he looked at me almost pleading. But I know what he is trying to do. Every single thing of his is a lie.

Rudra: I. Said. Leave.

I said gritting my teeth angrily. Its better if they leave now otherwise I know what to do to make them leave me alone.

Rishi: Bhai please listen...

Rishi said coming towards me and I closed my eyes taking deep breaths.

Rudra: I SAID LEAVE!!

I shouted punching the mirror with all my might. I winced feeling the pain in my hand but I feel relieved too by hearing the noise of the shattering glass. This!! This was how I broke 10 years ago, in bits and pieces.

Mrityunjay, Rishi: Rudra!! Bhai.

I heard both of them shouting and opened my eyes to see both of them on the other side of the glass which is shattered on the floor. Good!! Now they won’t try to come close to me. They both were looking at me with horror filled eyes.

Rudra: LEAVE.

I shouted picking up the sharpest piece of the glass in my hand and looked at them in warning. Rudra gulped and moved towards the door looking at me tensed. He is a child. I don’t want to subject him to all this nonsense, but he has to understand that I am not just angry with his Dad, I am downright disgusted with MJ Roy.

Mrityunjay: Okay fine we are going.No need to hurt yourself.

Mr. Roy said in a soft voice and moved towards the door. Is he even serious?? Why would I hurt myself??

Rudra: Hurt myself?? I am going to hurt you by this, Mr. Mrityunjay Roy. So leave before I do something really bad like...

I said glaring at him and he stiffened looking at me with slight anger in his eyes. I saw Rishi looking at me in alarm.

Rishi: Like?? Like what??

He asked looking at me stiffly. It’s time that he got to know about how much I hate this man.

Rudra: Like kill the man whose blood is in my veins??

I said smirking at him and he looked at me stunned.

Rishi: Bhai you have gone mad.

He said looking at me with tears in his eyes and I sighed closing my eyes. Yes!! I have gone mad. And how couldn’t I?? The man who is responsible for my birth is the same man who is responsible to my death. Yes!! Rudra Mrityunjay Roy died 10 years ago and now only a working body is here in place of his soul.

Rudra: I think so too.

I said looking down smiling. I never wanted this life. I did not want to be like this. But I am forced to live a life like this. So now, every single person has to feel my pain too.

Rishi: Let’s go dad.

Rishi said dragging his father away from the room and the scattered glass.

Mrityunjay: Rudra. Please take care.

He said turning back and looked at me tensed.What is he tensed about?? I don’t lose my mind when I am angry. I am not Mrityunjay Roy. Maya was right about one thing, that anger clouds your judgement, so this time I won’t be thinking when I am annoyed. And this man is such a big show off that I can’t even try to stand in front of him. I feel disgusted by him.

Rudra: Show your fake concern to someone else, Mr. Roy. I am not your puppet, neither am I your wife. I can understand the man behind your masks very well. So leave before I kill you.

I warned him and he took a deep breath leaving the room. I sat down on the bed closing my eyes. I saw some servants coming inside the room as they clean the room and I went to stand at the balcony. I heard my phone ringing and looked down only to see Maya’s call. What does she wants now?

Rudra: What??

I asked picking up the call irritated.

Maya: I want to meet you.

She said and I closed my eyes annoyed.Who does she think I am?? I am not her servant.

Rudra: Sure!! After all I am your loyal servant. I will come wherever you want.

I said to her sarcastically and heard her chuckle. Wait!! She is smiling?? What nonsense!!

Maya: Okay then!! In your office in next half hour.

She said and cut the call before I could say anything. She is irritating me now. I came out from my room changing my clothes and saw MJ sitting in the living room having his drink with Aamir. He stood as soon as he saw me coming towards the living room. I can see he wants to say something to me. But I am in no mood to listen to him. I came out from the house before they could say anything else. I looked down at my hand and realized that some glass pieces is still there in the wound that’s why it is pricking me so much. I couldn’t drive right now. I called the driver and told him to bring my car.

Rudra: Office!!

I told him as soon as I sat in the back seat. I put my head on the headrest and closed my eyes feeling disturbed by whatever happened. Rishi doesn’t deserve all this. He is a child. Still I was of the same age when I had to grow up because of that incident.

I came inside my cabin and saw Maya sitting on my seat. I sighed feeling really tired of fighting today. Maya looked up at me and then raised her eyebrows as if she wants to ask something.

Maya: I thought you were in your home.

She said getting up from the seat and I sat on it sighing.

Rudra: I was!!

I told her shrugging and put my hand on the desk but winced when I felt the stab of pain. Damn!! I didn’t even took out the glass pieces.

Maya: Were you fighting a boxing match there??

She asked sitting on the desk in front of me and I looked at her tensed.

Rudra: Why did you call me here?

I asked looking at her sternly. I don’t want to discuss my personal problems with her.

Maya: Fought with someone?

She asked and I looked away feeling really miserable all of a sudden. I have no remorse about fighting with MJ, but I didn’t want all this to happen before Rishi.

Maya: You know Rudra normally when people are angry they inflict pain on others, but you inflict pain on yourself.

She said looking at me curiously and I smirked looking at her. Today I got to know one very interesting thing, and that is, I can hurt Mr. Roy, I can really hurt him by hurting myself.

Rudra: Cause I know that inflicting pain on myself is much better way to defeat him rather than inflicting pain on him.

I said looking at her and she smiled slightly shaking her head at me.

Maya: Talking about your Dad?

She asked looking at me raising her eyebrows and I looked away from her.

Rudra: What do you want?

I asked looking at her sternly. Why did she even call me here on the first place?

Maya: You.

She said and I looked at her baffled. What is she saying?

Maya: I want you to handle your brother.

She said and I looked at her confused.My brother?? What is she talking about?

Rudra: My brother??

I asked looking at her curiously. She took out her phone and looked at me with blank eyes.

Rudra: Rishi?

I asked looking at her and she nodded at me. How does she know him?

Rudra: What did he do?

I asked looking at her and she forwarded her phone to me. I looked down only to see ‘Chemist’ written on the contact list. I frowned looking at her. What does all this has to do with Rishi?

Maya: Read the number.

She said and I did as she told me to do. I can’t believe this. Rishi?? Rishi was the one who wanted to meet Maya. Wait!! Is she the girl he is mad about?

Rudra: What the!! You are the girl about whom he is mad?

I asked looking at her baffled and she smiled slightly looking at me.

Maya: I am. I told him too many times to back off. But he is insistent. And Rudra, he is your brother. I don’t want to hurt him.

She said softly and I stiffened looking at her. I know she is capable of hurting him real bad and now it’s time for Rudra to know what is right and what is wrong.

Rudra: He won’t bother you again. Block him!!

I said and she nodded looking at me. I turned around to go only to stop by her voice again.

Maya: Wait!!

I turned around only to see her looking down at my hand.

Maya: Your hand is bleeding.

She said grabbing my hand and I looked at her startled. What is she doing?

Rudra: I am fine.

I said and tried to pull my hand back but she tighten her hold on my hand. I looked at her baffled as she pushed me back towards my chair and made me sit on it. She sat on the desk again and pulled out the first aid kit from the drawer.

I closed my eyes as I felt the sudden pain in my hand as Maya started to pull out the glass pieces one by one. I hissed as she wiped my hand with the antiseptic.

Maya: Sorry!!

I heard her whisper softly and clenched my fist tightly as she started putting the medicine on the cut. It is really hurting but it is nothing in front of the wounds of my heart.

I opened my eyes when she finished dressing my wound. I looked up at her to thank her but she just shook her head smiling. She is really confusing. I know she doesn’t like touching any person but then she touched me twice that too willingly. She is scared yet a fighter.What is she??

Maya: See you tomorrow.

She said as I got up from the chair and moved towards the door. Its time that I pull myself together. I can’t remain this emotionally haywire. I have to control myself.

Rudra: Bye!!

I nodded at her and sat on the backseat of my car telling my driver to start. I turned around only to see Maya looking at my car smiling slightly. I know this matter of Rishi is not as simple as she is showing but I will be investigating it. I have to know everything about Maya and Rishi’s relation before I do something about all this. And this time Rishi cannot run away like he did last time.
