NK's core plot itself was highly dramatic (it wasn't just another love story cum family drama) so there is no way that the tracks wouldn't have drama. If a shownl starts with a premise of high drama, it should be able to sustain it throughout, else things feel too feeble and the essence is lost. Similarly, if it starts with a rom-com kind of premise, switching to high-voltage drama midway takes away from the essence of the show. A lot of times, shows start with a different genre/theme and then suddenly switch gears, that ruins the show big time. There needs to be a balance.

On Itv, every show definitely needs to go the drama way to survive in the race for TRPs. The question is how many of them do that at the cost of butchering their characters and/or losing the core premise. I didn't feel NK did that ever until almost the last 50 epis and that with one of the characters when they were already working towards wrapping the show (so not for TRPs, technically but because the makers lost interest).

As to the drama in the show being more endurable because of our favs, it doesn't work for me. When Ishqbaaz launched, I started watching it for Nakuul and his character of Shivaay. Being a Gul show, the expectation was always that he would be a rude and arrogant character - but that also has limits and they were maintained till Shivaay and Anika's marriage track. The way they handled the bride swap with Shivaay going to the lengths of humiliating Anika disgustingly, it wasn't needed and was quite repulsive for me. They butchered Shivaay's character at the altar of TRPs. Irrespective of how crackling a chemistry Gul portrayed between Shivaay and Anika after that (or however much I liked some of the other characters), I couldn't watch it a single day more because the character was dead for me. Despite that, Shivaay and Anika gathered quite a huge fan base. So what works or doesn't work for each person is different.

So I would disagree that everyone tolerates crappy tracks just for the love of the leads or that every show has illogical and unrealistic tracks.

Yeah me too even though no matter how much I like the leads and their chemistry ..once ML gets mentally abusive towards FL I will quit the show ..

For me Ml arrogance should have a limit .if he crossed that then good bye to show

Rohit is snobbish .but u never get irritated by it .u accept him with that ..

I avoid Gul shows ..no matter what ..

Hi I am a silent member of the forum and an early viewer of this show. It is an interesting topic and refreshing to read all your views..

Not sure if the show is a boon to the itv or not but it's defenetly one of the best ever to be seen on the TV. I don't say this because it has unique storyline but rather the presentation of story tracks.

This is a show which had a firm storyline, characters and stuck to the original story even when it didn't get desirable trp. Watch the show from 1 episode and you will notice the story for all the characters and they are still relatable even after 6 months. I find that very refreshing.

Unique that there are no set villans in this show. Everyone shown to be with their bad side and the main villans is situation..

Leads characterization is so balanced where both are smart, independent and loving towards their families...

Of course the actors of this show all are so good and despite having such a huge no of family members we connect with everyone.. finally the makers are doing a one hell of job despite all the restriction in terms of trp pressure and audience expectations.. Kudos to the entire team

KhKt is a boon to me for sure because I wake up 6am to watch this show and absolutely hate the weekends now😃..

Compared to Gul ekta infinetely better .she does not typecast her ML .like Gul .her ML are all different personalities depending on the show

But ml can be good or bad but ekta ml are not typecasted like Gul

Gul ml are mentally abusive arrogant nuts ..and females all r dumbass according to Gul ..what a MCP gul is
