If you think about it. Being in that situation. The guy is on top of you and about to penetrate. It's inevitable. It's going to happen. If you somehow are able to change your mindset from pain to pleasure momentarily, it would be better for your body. When we tighten and close our bodies in that situation, it will hurt like crazy. If we relax and tell our brain this is not a bad experience, the body will relax, and there will be less pain, less blood, less tears, less cuts. Rape is a sexual act. An evil form of a sexual act. When there is no way to stop the evil act, we have to find the best way to lessen the trauma.

I am no defender of Amitabh Bachchan, nor men in general, this is just an analysis behind the "soundbite" that's being thrown around without any consideration at all.

Wow. Even more appalling than Thug defending AB. What a load of bull is this. Just pathetic how lightly some people take these things. How can you even say this? So now we should start coaching for future rape victims on how to behave while they are getting raped "for their own good"??

Happy Christmas to you too.

Some of the comments here about how to be comfortable/ safe when rape is happening just shows that these people have zero brains

more than stupidity, it really shows that they will never understand the raw pain and trauma which will affect the victim and her family her entire life.

This is beyond pathetic

The context here was, he was asked about the constant attacks on him by media on his character or something like that, and he replied that. But no, we should judge and scrutinize everything said by someone ages ago by today's lens. Oh no no AB Sr is promoting rape, what the actual fcuk, is common sense taken over by over sensitiveness nowadays.

This right here. What he said sounds horrible but people should be cautious judging something from 30 years ago with today's time period. Things were different then and people weren't politically correct to this extent. He wasn't talking about actual rape and made a bad analogy but what he said was a well known phrase at that time.

Just 10 years ago, people were laughing at ignorant balaatkar jokes in 3 Idiots and hyping lines like "thappad se darr nahin lagta" after the hero threatens to slap the heroine in Dabang.

Going back in time to judge with today's mindset in order to cancel people doesn't make sense.

I completely understood what you said and 100% agree with it.

What a shameful way to behave in public and that too by someone who prides himself in his excellent public conduct. I am glad somebody dug this out and brought it to light because people like Amitabh get idolised over the years and shit like this gets forgotten. But people should know what type of people they are idolising. It's a crude and insensitive phrase and shame on him for using it.

It's sad though that people are so adamant to sound cool by opposing the "feminists" that they try to come up with all sorts of excuses for questionable behaviour. Only when it's completely in your face and you can't defend it like that person who's saying carry condoms and accept rape, then they have to begrudgingly accept ki haan bhai wo wala ladka toh galat bol raha hai. Just sad.

Yes context matters, especially when it was said 30 fcuking years ago. What he said, by today's standards sounds offensive and insensitive, but 30 years ago, the usage of many words were not limited, the word "rape" was regularly used in many different contexts during those times, forgot those times even till last five six years ago, people were not serious about what they said and how they used the words.

Again the fact, you're saying that I said this to sound cool by going against feminists, just shows how much you have limited your perception about people. This isn't about me going against feminists. If I was so much against feminists, I would have defended Salman when he said the rape reference during Sultan promotions, using the context arguments, but I didn't because by today's standards and awareness, we have been told to not casually use the word rape, and if we do, it is offensive.

But how can we bring up something said by someone 30 years ago, when the vocabulary was different, people used to use words many words which are considered sensitive today in different contexts, and than say things like "he is promoting rape", that is ridiculous.

And it isn't about in your face, it is about when. If AB Sr or anyone said that phrase today, I would have criticized that person, as anyone, because we have been told to not use the word casually, and I respect that. But I will not support this digging up the graves to cry foul. That is just gucking stupid, and I will call it as it is.

This discussion is totally going the wrong way. Specially those comments which are saying relax and let it happen. Instead we can educate our girls on self defence. It can be very difficult to fight back when there are many but a few tricks can help escape. All girls must be trained with simple yet powerful technics. Instead of forwarding all those helpline numbers or give sick advices to carry condoms or let it happen to manage to live in those situations, they must be taught to fight back from very small age. Self defence a necessary subject in schools and teaching boys about respecting girls.

no matter what the context is, comparing it with something as heinous as rape is insensitive.

and everybody who raises voice for rape victims or speak against rape are not feminists or feminazis. even boys and transgenders get raped. so please keep men vs women out of this debate.
