I think it’s our collective energy calling for it. From the past few years whenever a shitty comedy movies come I see people mentioning missing priyadarshan including me.
Someone said comedies had a good run till 2010, that was the last time priyadarshan made a comedy maybe that’s why 😂
David Dhawan comedies worked in 90s mostly because of govinda, kader khan combo. He can’t make it anymore as we’ve seen with judwa 2
Same goes for Rohit Shetty.
The casting of the movie is good but not sure about the lead pair. He should have casted Akshaye khanna but I see this time there’s only one lead and producers might have wanted someone salable but Meezab is a flop himself so
It was also the last time Akshay Kumar had a clean comedy hit without too many double meaning dialogues and crassness.
David Dhawan comedies were good. Actually Main Tera Hero wasn't that bad either. It had its moments and Varun has some good comic timing if he can stop overacting. His acting in Badlapur was a crowning moment for his career.
To be fair, Rohit Shetty does have some good ideas and has somewhat clean comedy. Golmaal series isn't all bad. And Bol Bachchan is still hilarious. But yes. He doesn't have that same feel that Priyadarshan does.
Hera Pheri, Hungama, Hulchul, Malamaal Weekly, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Bhagam Bhag, Chup Chup Ke, Garam Masala, and even De Dana Dan. Priceless comedy. Truly hilarious. I still fall off my chair laughing at movies like Hungama and Hulchul. Akshaye Khanna can fit into any role and make it his own. Heck he even had a comic streak in Dishoom and he was supposed to be the "villain" in that movie. Rahul Dev was more villainous in that movie. Anyways, I digress.
Meezab may be flop, but he's a pretty good actor. I guess Priyadarshan was looking for someone from the new gen who could act and would fit into a comic role well. It's Priyadarshan. I just need to see a good trailer and then I can say I'll definitely watch this movie.
