Tu ne mujhe chalna sikhaya tha na Babes? Ab sood samaet tujhe udh na sikha ri hoon. - Minnie

The simplicity, freshness, and heartwarming connection that existed between Minnie and Babita - that's what I'm going to take with me and this what I'm going to accept.

Call me an irrational fan or whatever the fck you want, but I refuse to believe that Babita was ever a selfish, egotistical, vapid, shallow woman who only cared about herself and not her daughter. If the writers want to twist and poison the beautiful and pure essence that existed in Babita, then that's their call and they can continue deluding themselves, but I'm not buying into it.

The truth is that this was a story about a mother who was low on her self esteem and never wanted to pose as an inconvenience on anyone else. As a result, she never put forth her own desires and squashed anything that was remotely considered personal to her. She served her in-laws, bore her sister-in-law's taunts and vicious comments, and yearned for the day when her husband will return home. Despite all this, she made it through the day because of her daughter, Minnie. If it weren't for her, she would have never been able to survive in that environment as along as she did.

The truth is that story was also about Minnie who wanted a lot more for her mother. She wanted her to stop being scared of the world and be more brave. She wanted her to stop letting them step all over her and fight for her rights and self-respect. She wanted her to talk back regardless of the relation, when people would insult her without giving her a second thought. She wanted her to be independent but also have the share of love that she rightly deserved.

The truth is that this was a story about a mother and daughter who wanted the world for each other. By being each other's pillars of strength and indomitable support, they strove to make that possible regardless of what life threw at them.

That's what this story was about. That was its core essence and that's what made this show so incredibly special. Not the twisted perversion that we got towards the latter half.

Not going to say much else except watch the following promos.

The rewatch will begin from Monday.

Loved the write-up, Gur 🤗

This was the essence of PB. You wrote it so beautifully. The lovely mother-daughter relationship and the beautiful connection they shared was the essence of this show. Thats what made PB so special. ❤️

In quote, whole-heartedly agree. I don't care what people say, but I also refuse to believe that Babita was ever this selfish and didn't care about her own daughter. That was a bunch of BS thrown our way to make their way to S2 with Mini.

Btw, they did redeem Babita in an implied mode with her opening PB Restaurant, realizing her mistakes etc. Like GK said, "bahut mehenat ki unhone", and HS said "sab kuch akele karliya". But kya faida? Oh well.

Yup.

I understand that characters will change over time as that's all part of growing up, but to make them do a complete 180... yeahh, no. There's no way the monstrosity we got from Babita towards the end was her "true basic nature" or whatever all along.

We've seen many shows depict the bond between a mother and daughter, but it was never presented in this manner before. There was a freshness, simplicity and beyond all that immense love between them. It resonated with us merely from these promos alone.

For people to claim that Babita never cared about Minnie or she was shallow, vapid, vile and whatnot all along... yeahh, no. If she truly were all these things then Minnie would have never worked so hard to liberate her mother. If Babita truly was this self-absorbed then Minnie would have never kept telling her to stop thinking about the world and their talks. If Babita truly was this selfish, then Minnie would have never pushed her to start thinking about herself for once.

To glorify the daughter, don't massacre the mother. It's a huge disrespect and insult to do so.

What's the point of that "redemption" if the audience never got to see it? It's all fcking BS and I'm not buying into it.

I agree. This was the PB that we loved and this is the only one that I'm going to accept and remember. Everything else is non-existent.
