Social media Strategy has a separate education and agencies who help you do that. All this comes under Digital Marketing and Digital PR.
For instance, if I am a celebrity or a Brand, my social media account access is shared with such agencies who specialise in strategy. They have massive pre, post and day to day discussions for posts and activities as well as paid associations. The PR manager supervises the agency.
The agencies charge somewhere between 75k per month which can go up to 2.5 lakhs a month too depending on scope of work.
They decide cumulatively on the frequency of posts, their timings, content taking into consideration the event calendar in their mind.
They also do targeted posts with paid posts to Instagram to gain popularity with the algorithms.
Social media mood boarding and strategy is a HUGE thing and it’s totally a business.
The agency also regulates ORM which is Online Reputation management. For instance, if someone with a blue tick comments on your profile, the celebrity or the brand is immediately informed over a phone call and they are asked to respond in personal capacity. Rest, the team handles and answers on behalf of the celebrity or the Brand.
Huge backstory, I know all this because it’s a part of my portfolio to do Communication Strategy.
Anyway coming to answer your question.
That could be done in the possible scenarios like.
1. The ORM team gets a checklist to delete such comments and likes. This could be due to many reasons. Massive heartbreak, massive bitterness, legal reasons as directed by the lawyers, directed by the PR team to avoid conflict.
There are specialist agencies who are pro at disaster and crisis management too.
For instance, you got caught drinking in sets or going through bad divorce, or affairs hiding or hiding fights
Etc etc.
So, in short what you see on social media is a projected reality of experts in the fields of communication not the REAL people!
Influencer marketing is another game altogether.
