She has done photoshoots with the look and there is some resemblance.. obviously her normal pics won't be similar coz makeup, hairstyle n overall look of the era would be different..
Regarding acting as someone mentioned..we never know till we see..she can audition
i have seen her acting and honestly others mentioned here are far better actors too..... and I dont think he will audition for this role........ its a big big one.....
Madhuri
Aur young chaiye to Yami
Aur young chaiye to Sara
Kareena out of these 3. She would look the part because she is slightly chubby.
I just took Kareena's name for Madhubala and saw this comment😆 I was not that serious though. i honestly don't know who should play Madhubala. She was so unique. No one looks like her in current generation.

yami. she is underrated n gorgeous . madhuri ji is bloated now, even her eyes says no more botox plz. n deepika's face is melting like butter would near heat. kareena's face looks like ever growing, as if she trying for role of humpty dumpty.

As already mentioned in another thread, I stick to my opinion, a younger Madhuri would have been an apt choice but not now. And for the rest of girls, a big NO.
Personally, I don't care - I have zero faith in this director and the aura of our times - the mind-blowing mediocrity of mainstream cinema - is simply not conducive to great biopics.
The big question is why make a biopic of Madhubala at all (apart from making money and satisfying Madhubala's relative's ego; give me an honest biopic of Meena Kumari any day LOL)?
- Perhaps to capture the essence of the person that is known to audiences? Then only Madhuri passes the test and she proved it many times. Ironically, at 52 she's in better shape than Madhubala ever was. This is her homage from 2018:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1gc-rDf_Ig
- Perhaps to recreate her life in full? But apparently the family agreed to this one, which means nah, we're not going to see the truly interesting aspects of her life (overbearing papa, the Dilip Kumar stuff, the marrying of the 'second-best' guy). Maybe, maybe they aim at dramatizing her illness?
Two solutions could work,IMO, but of course it won't happen:
1. If you want the best candidate, use some special effects to deage Madhuri's face. The effect would likely be much better than in the case of Bharat's Salman. No need to deage the rest of the body - she's still very fit and can easily recreate the charm and styles of Madhubala's iconic dances. Of course, she's a woman so she would get tons of flak from... probably mostly from other actresses' PR teams.
2. Hire a complete, but talented, unknown, YOUNG performer and make a proper biopic - from early years to premature death. For songs employ someone who proved Madhubala's songs can be recreated. Ideally, Madhuri, because she's the best and she could bridge the then and the now, but if not, there must be some talented actresses/dancers in Bollywood. Karan Johar didn't block all of them to promote all those dumb, inexplicably smug neposhits, did he?

I agree ..Disha is the best choice for a younger Madhubala and Madhuri can play the role of her later life/near death days
Yami seems too B grade for this.
Deepika & Kareena have no depth to play such full of nuances character that can touch heart strings, also they look too sharp in features & totally unlike Madhubala personality wise as well.
No fan of Disha but she is forsure the best choice.

You forgot to mention a very important aspect.
Madhuri looks ALOT like Madhubala.
Have seen the comparisons and in many of Madhubala's old songs, one can pass her as Madhuri with eyes forehead expressions hair and especially the one sided smile.
Madhuri even mentioned that she used to imitate Madhubala all the time in front of mirror throughout her teens & younger days.

U wouldn't know the diff cos u haven't tasted biryani 😆
OT: None. Deepika would be the worst choice, Madhuri unfortunately is too old and Kareena lol no.
Like someone suggested Yami, yea she'd be decent. Also Madhubala wasn't really known for her acting chops.

I didn't because I thought their uncanny similarity is obvious for everyone. 😃
I'm not too sure about either Disha's looks and her depth as an actor - can she pull it off? Again, if we can't stand the thought of an older actress playing a younger character (while praising the Aamirs, Shahrukhs and Salmans for doing exactly that - except they love to pass for people two or three decades younger LMAO), I think the best candidate should be an unknown so that we're not prejudiced/burdened with expectations.
It all boils down to the main question: why at all? Do we want to carry Madhubala to the young generation of viewers? But why would they care? They know her aura from a few clips online, and that she died young. That's all. And what would mid-age and older generations get from the biopic, unless it tackles her life honestly?
