Anyways, Agabai Sasubai is a light hearted show, reminds me of KDP..

I had read in the news long time back ,where the children have driven their parents to suicide,,

My mum in law's brother and his wife used to make his mother (my hubby's aaji), live in the balcony and used to order food from the dabbawala for her..poor thing, sometimes she used to come to live with her daughters.

Karkhanis aaji ajoba ajunahi ahet kahi gharat..

Yes, that is correct.

If a high flying (literally) celebrity like Viajaypat can be made a beggar by his son, then is it any wonder we have so many like the Karkhanis in real world?

You said it... Yesterday, Karkhanis scene reminded me Vijaypat Singhania but was not sure whether to mention that here. He used to be a regular page 3 face with the royal life style.

So it is because of Western influence that kids in India do the same? I don't think so. Also, in Italy and Greece you'll find several households where old parents live with kids.

Looking at asa indulging ajoba i think though its regressive its the bond they share which mightbe unique in her case

Maybe asa lost herhusband at young age n ajoba was a biggest support running the household like man of the house . So asa is holding onto ajoba as it seems she doesnt hv parents n if no husband one needs to understand the importance of having that support. Even ajoba is possesive of her as they hv been slways 3 of them n so no one likes to oppose him. As an outsider like shubra we may think its wrong but we may not hv idea how much ajoba may hv done for asa n soham in his younger age that soham n asa out of respect n obligation doesnt want to hurt ajoba esp at his age. Not having man in the house is not easy for ajoba or asa or soham.

Thats why in their particular situation their actions seem justified though it may look wrong in our eyes.

Imagine as a father losing yur child n taking care of daughter in law n her son no easy for ajoba either so that might lead to his irrational behaviour sometimes.
