I'm finally catching up on things I can watch on Netflix and Prime.....lol

And now I know what you meant by that Bobby-Lilly scene in your gif....sach mein eerie Shivika parallels the of him hugging her and she not being aware that he's found out what abuse she went through.

I didn't think the movie would end up being about addressing a Me Too topic but they still gave a good message. Waise toh it was quite a journey for Bobby and Lilly but they wove the central theme of having a support/Comrade in your life nicely through all the ups and downs :)

This actor Vijay Devarakonda is really good.....especially in the intense and emotional scenes. There's one scene in the police station towards the end when he takes a puff of his cigarette and tells the guy interrogating him that I'm not scared, you are😆.....ekdum natural swagger se kiya....haha

The girl was sweet too.....they have quite a sweet chemistry together :)

The music and the lyrics were all nice too. I thought Telugu movies supposed to be loud and caricaturish in general but this one wasn't like that surprisingly😆

God bless subtitles....lol koi bhi language ho, atleast we are able to watch now.

@bold

Lol AY I'm not sure why you thought Telugu movies supposed to be loud and caricaturishsmiley36...But i know where you are coming fromsmiley36..There used to be some Balakrishna,Ravi Teja,Junior NTR movies which were loud and caricaturishsmiley36,where 7 cars would blow away at a time with single whistle or chutkismiley36..Unfortunately they became the block buster hits and caught the attention of north indians i guess and took away the izzat of telugu moviessmiley36...But they are not the total sum of telugu movies...They are mass masala genre...no one watch them except the actors's fans..I myself dont watch them..lol

Trust me when i say this,Content wise Telugu movies are better than bollywood ...There are telugu movies which are simple but deep... i remember you describing Gathbandhan show in initial days..that how it has earthy feel to it (something on this line)...Thats how many of the telugu movies are..they have this earthy feel to them..its hard to find such movies in bollywood aajkal...I'm not sure i'm making any sense here..but i'm not able to describe in proper words...lol..smiley36...

I agree that i previously said somewhere with Fary, how telugu industry is male dominated, how few directors/producers are mysogynistic but the telugu movies generally have the story or some substance.. i find few recent bollywood movies superficial and fake particularly remakes..i mean i saw one or two songs of kabir singh,they polished it with high budget,but the acting and scenes looked too fake...where as Vijay was amazing in AR and i never find it fake..And also i saw few songs and scenes of remake of telugu movie "Nuvvostanante nenoddantana"...ie., Ramayya vastavayya in Hindi... the acting of Siddharth was so natural in the telugu movie and also the movie had this earthy feel to it...but hindi one,the actor is so blah and movie also looked so fake and blah..and also they added some item song of Jaqueline fernandaz i guess..it looked pathetic...but telugu one had no such lame item song and was such an amazing family entertainer in telugu..

Hey i'm not saying this..just bcz i'm a telugu girl...i myself cringe at few lame telugu movies..

AY...Few Telugu movies i feel you will definitely like. ..are

1) "Bommarillu" starring Siddharth and Genelia

2) "Ala modalindi" starring Nani and Nitya menon

3) "Ohaalu gusa gusa laade" starring Naga shourya and Rashi khanna

I'm not saying these are great movies...but they are very sweet and simple family entertainers...Bommarillu must and should watch...you will definitely like it...lol

4) "Gharshana" starring venkatesh and Asin...

I liked Asin's character in the movie...

There are many good telugu movies but these are the ones came to my mind now..which i feel like you will like them...lol

And the malayalam movie "Banglore days"...I loved it..you will definitely like this movie..

"Ala modalindi" is available in youtube with english subtitles.....not sure whether the print is good ...Here is the link..lol...Nitya menon was cute in this movie...(*click on "watch video on youtube" ) :

https://youtu.be/3B0mUHR7SsU

If any Nitya menon fans are there..I would recommend "Ala modalindi" , "Ishq" and "Gunde jaari gallanthayyinde"....These are simple and entertaining...no drama or voilence..easy watch...."Ala modalindi" is must watch...i loved it.."Ishq" was quite entertaining...and "Gunde jaari gallanthayyinde" had good comedy element..And again these are not some message oriented movies...😆...These are simple love stories...lol

@Fary

Regarding Vijay devarakonda, he is really a good actorsmiley36....I liked him in AR and in "Taxiwala" movie too....In Taxiwala, eventhough the climax is anticlimactic and illogical, i liked the movie..it is a sci-fi thriller...it was fun to watch...Geeta govindam and Dear comrade i'm yet to watch.. and i liked the songs of GG and DC..

Again regarding Arjun reddy, it is a Vijay's movie...i mean ppl should watch it for Vijay's acting not bcz of lame love storysmiley36....During First half ,i was eye rolling at their love storysmiley36....Second half was quite engaging..i forgot that i was watching a movie bcz of Vijay's acting...he was so natural...He will make you feel for the character in the second half when he was on endless self destructive pathsmiley36...I'm not a fan of Docile dumb female lead characters smiley36...She had no personality or any individuality other than being a lover of AR..and the actress had nothing much in the movie to show her acting stills and hardly had any dialogues...So i cant say much about the actress..

Hero's character is so complicatedsmiley36...as AY is expert in analysing the characters..i feel she would be the best person to review this movie...lol

I went w*f looking at Shahid's acting in some songs of KS...I can feel what you must be going through Farysmiley36..particularly as you are a fan of Vijay...smiley36...Vijay has this confident body language and this natural swag made AR watchable...I watched the edited version of this movie on TV where some asleel scenes and dialogues were edited out..so i did find it neat...lol...i expected worse from the movie based on trailers...but the movie was much better than i expected...

Regarding Mahanati, i had no interest in actress Savitri's life ..i myself dont know anything about her and also Keerthi was not a great actress either in her previous movies...so i had no inspiration to watch...but few days back i saw the trailer of Mahanati...i quite liked it...seems like Keerthi did a good job in that movie...would like to watch at some point..

If anyone interested in out and out light -hearted family entertainers..i would suggest Venkatesh movies..like "Aadu vari matalaku arthale verule" , "Nuvu naku nachav".. The actor Nagarjuna's "Manmadhudu" -1 ( not 2 lol)..I'm not a fan of Nagarjuna, but Manmadhudu-1 was all time favourite of many ppl in those days and it was a good family entertainer...

Sorry for the long blabbering...when ppl are discussing about telugu movies here....i couldnt control blabbering being a Telugu girl...lol..

oh checkout naaani's jersey and gangleader for sure even though gangleader got a bit too Uhmm meh in 2nd half it still is such a unique concept and naani and his "revengers" were adorable and have some endearing moments and jersey toh i have loved so much and am already mourning shahid ruining another of my fav films of the year with his bakwaas acting

Trust me when i say this,Content wise Telugu movies are better than bollywood ...T

This times INFINITY EVENTHOUGH I DO LIKE ks'S MUSIC but everythign was so fake + my emotional attachment to AR and all it just made it so yucky for me the fact that they even copied the whole protional campaign ughghgh all the posters and everthing it really turned out to be a moodruiner and yeah as i said earlier my blood boils at the mention of it just like that shitty remake of OKK and BD does where as Vijay was amazing in AR and i never find it fake..And also i saw few songs and scenes of remake of telugu movie "Nuvvostante nenoddantana" Awwie *something something**blush*☺️ my initial days in telugu industry i rememeber the struggle i had to do to find subtitles back in the day and watch it with toote phoote subs and ask for everyone awww when the tumblr community main 1 person would find some link and circulate awww good old days but Aww...ie., Ramayya vastavayya in Hindi... the acting of Siddharth was so natural in the telugu movie and also the movie had this earthy feel to it.. .but hindi one,the actor is so blah and movie also looked so fake and blah..and also they added some item song of Jaqueline fernandaz i guess..it looked pathetic...but telugu one had no such lame item song and was such an amazing family entertainer in telugu.. WORDi was laughing throughout even though the hindi remake had a couple of good songs still iw as likeoh plz STOP that is vintage telugu films for me this one varsham,atthadu,bommarillu ,pokkiri,etc BTW till date am thankful to God for somehow managing to not let Bommarillu's hindi remake release with harman baweja HHAHAHAHAHAHAHA GoshJust imagien the horror

^ super cute kind of dated but feel good films idk if you will find them with subs though now my suggestion would be to save these for a day you just want to get mushy and watch a sweet film that makes you smile i mean bommarillu is my intro to TFI and can you believe it i still own the DVD hahaha i loved it so much that i saved the thing from youtube where it was like 10 parts and then burned a dvd Good old times man it feels like ages ago but somehow that struggle to do that and desire to save that gem and nostalgia hit me hahaha. idk if in aaj ki date it will make one want to continue their foray into a new industry though esp with us evolving as viewers too but yeah this on goes into the classic gems esp caz of it's nostalgic value and that first film sentiment plus gen ki cuteness and bujji sid's sidekick he was freaking hilarious🤣

3) "Ohaalu gusa gusa laade" starring Naga shourya and Rashi khanna

I'm not saying these are great movies...but they are very sweet and simple family entertainers...Bommarillu must and should watch...you will definitely like it...lol

@Fary

Regarding Mahanati, i had no interest in actor Savitri's life ..i myself dont know anything about her and also Keerthi was not a great actress either in her previous movies...so i had no inspiration to watch...but few days back i saw the trailer of Mahanati...i quite liked it...seems like Keerthi did a good job in that movie...would like to watch at some point.. You are missing out.. Even if you don't know the actress this one is such a finely made film of a women going through different stages fully female centric film about her struggles and this one goes into my list of greats and lol bTW girl you were complainign about strong female centric films not existing to watch this and Oh Oh baby too such an adorable and meaningful film

If anyone interested in out and out light -hearted family entertainers..i would suggest Venkatesh movies..like "Aadu vari matalaku arthale verule" , "Nuvu naku nachav".. The actor Nagarjuna's "Manmadhudu" -1 ( not 2 lol)..I'm not a fan of Nagarjuna, but Manmadhudu-1 was all time favourite of many ppl in those days and it was a good family entertainer... thanks but nahhh venky mama is too old for me i can;t watch them as heroes same with chiranjeevi yeah i know they are stalwarts but i just can''t watch them playing youngsters plus these films are not really available with subs too . the only odler generation that i watch in regional filsm are the great mammooka or mohanlaal where they play age appropriate roles which is rare but still i think i have a bigger liking there than the older generation of Telugu industry just personal preference no offence

Sorry for the long blabbering...when ppl are discussing about telugu movies here....i couldnt control blabbering being a Telugu girl...lol.. ahh no worries i was poking and pushing AY from like years now to watch these more of the malayalm cinema caz that is more like our taste in stuff so hahah she finally saw a couple and we started talking BTw get on that DC wagon honey ☺️

bahahaha p.s ek teacher homework deti kya kam thi Bechari AY ji ko ke ab teacher number 2 bhi aa gayi bechari AY ji🤣 homework talle dab jaayengi kahin class hi chod ke bhaag na jaayein term start hone se pehle hi 🤣 and we haven't even touched tamil cinema i mean dhanush vijay sethupathi,surya, the other vijay i mean thalapathy Vijay, thala ajit etc etc

@Fary

Lol...yes Fary... there are few mass masala movies which were entertaining....but its just that they are not my type..Most of them,i find them loud or OTT😆...Junior NTR is a very good actor...He did good movies too..His first movie "Student no.1" was super hit.i liked the movie.. and His "Naanna ku prematho".. was not mass masala type..it is a decent watch..His "Brindavanam" is a mass masala type..but it was entertaining...

His "Aadi" ,"Andrawala" Yama donga" were mass masala type..Andrawala was so lame.. Rajamauli's Yama donga was entertaining eventhough some parts were OTT..lol...And he did many other movies which are not mass masala type..i liked few of them...So its not like Junior NTR do only mass masala types...but his "Temper" movie scarred me😆...And "Aadi" had the scenes like 7 cars blown away at a time when he whistle or something🤣 and throwing bombs and killing ppl.. full of blood and voilence...so i included "Junior NTR" movies in mass masala type..lol

Ravi Teja used to do good movies in those days like 1)"Badra" (heroine Meera jasmine), 2)"Amma nanna O Tamil ammayi " (heroine "Asin" )...but idk later he started doing lame movies and his acting also turned OTT idk why😕😆

Balakrishna...sorry..lmao his movies...hands down ,they turned unbearable in last 10 yrs particularly his movies "chenna kesava reddy" and some other Reddy movies..Being a Reddy myself,i find it so lame the way they potray Reddies in telugu mass masala movies...like Reddies dont have anything in life other than throwing bombs or killing ppl....🤣in the drop of a hat..lol..I have never seen any such things happening in my family or extended family or surrounding reddy families....lol..And Balakrishna was a senior and good actor....but in last 10 years..idk what happened to him...😳....So Balakrishna' s movies was the main reason i became allergic to mass masala movies in Telugu lol.. I prefer light hearted Venkatesh's family entertainers any day over any lame mass masala movies..

Regarding Bommarillu, Ala modalindi..yes may be they are outdated and not new movies ..but still ppl watch them now and then when they playd on TV...They still look fresh..i felt AY will definitely like them..and also they are not loud movies i wanted to give examples of few good Telugu movies...lol..Yes Nitya menon had not much scope to do different kinds of roles in Telugu movies..She went gayab long back from telugu industry after giving 3 hits...I think in Malayalam she is doing good...

I liked Naani from Ala modalindi days..he is a very natural actor...i would definitely like to watch his movies more...Jersey i have to watch...i hardly watched 3-4 telugu movies in last 3 yrs....lol

Regarding Arjun Reddy, i heard there are such controversial and problematic scenes in the movie..but again i watched edited version on TV...so i dont know about the scene you are mentioning....i expected worse from the movie before watching it...so i kinda felt it was better than i expected...lol

Lol clearly idk any of those films except msybe the 2 jr ntr films as i follow more the actors and their filmographies 🤷‍♀️ so am safe for me most masala has bern some ramcharan mahesh babu, allu arjun,prabhas entertainers easy breezy fun like mirchi types but i get why you are pissed with thr industry on whole haha

Naani lives upto his title of natural star i like his light hearted films and how easy he is on the eyes. Yes as i said bommarillu is a classic but personally i feel if i watch it today where i am in life today i might get annoyed with gen's too much cuteness in it even though i loved the film to the core in older days my jam is more serious films with a lot of substance now like say DC, mahanati, oh baby, majili etc

TBH I liked Bommarillu not for gen's cuteness..I liked the story and substance in the movie....how parents end up suffocating their children without even their awareness....I liked all the characters ..Ofcourse i liked genelia in the movie...but it is not the only factor to like this movie...The execution,the acting everything is on point...The movie is so real..there are many such parents..The movie has the message... And I felt like AY will definitely like this movie ...thats the only reason i felt like recommending it...lol..

I have not watched the movies you mentioned above...so i couldnt say anything about them.....would like to watch at some point..

This bit was so touching and sweet! Not to piss you off, but this reminds me of MaNan hugs in KY2....lol when a tall guy is a good hugger....not comparing Vijay to Parth....lol Vijay ki insult ho jaayegi yeh toh ....but that similarity struck me here in the hug.

The attraction was so naturally shown in this scene without being forced or cliched....I even liked how she talked to him in the scene before this where she was like, she didn't expect that she'd keep thinking about him after she left and she realized around what time she must have started liking him.

LOL@ you asking permission to mention the kiss😆

Yes, the kisses were all nicely and aesthetically done....I even found the first time he kissed her after visiting her house so cutely done....ekdum flow mein tha....first the cuddly hug and then the quick kiss before he leaves....Lilly's surprised and blushing face in response as she watches him leave was also very sweet.

The guy is just a natural actor....you can see the sincerity in his acting, that is why all the scenes look natural, not put on.....and this includes the romance as well as the kisses.

This kiss was quite nicely envisioned and executed in terms of the use of space....the camera angle of leaning out the window and the kiss as the rain drenches them....you can feel the joy in their love as they steal these moments with each other.

LOL because all I've heard from the various South Indian friends I've known or heard from over the years has led me to believe that Malayalam films are the classy ones high on content and realism in execution, while the Telugu ones are usually the most crass😆.....Tamil films were second on the list after Malayalam ones in terms of content.....lol

But it seems like the Telugu film industry is changing off late, as Fary said....and if Dear Comrade is any indication, I see a change for the better. Even the dance numbers in the film were not as OTT as I've seen of other South movies in the past with loud/vulgar moves.

I have nothing against the mass masala genre but some Telugu films that I caught glimpses of just seemed too much and the FLs always seemed like bimbos with no minds of their own....thankfully DC wasn't like that.....lol

I really liked Uyare though, which is a Malayalam film and Parvathy was brilliant in that.....what an actress....I loved her in Qarib Qarib Single too.

But thanks for all these recommendations :) I'll try to check them out soon :)

I do like Nitya since I saw her in OKK.....she was amazing in that one, but haven't followed the rest of her work....I like Siddharth too since RDB.....I've heard of Bommarillu from other people but the trailers didn't intrigue me much.....will see if I can check it out though.
