I definitely felt it, as well a hint of regret at the nasty incident between them. The actor did a great job in this role, just the right touch of emotion. He finally felt like NB's son.
I'm absolutely amazed by the casting choices. Whoever this actor is, he got Irfaan just right! There was nothing too malicious about him, always soft spoken and respectful, and his eyes. Idk how he did it, but there was always that immense love and respect for his Ammi whenever he spoke or looked at her.
Also, his constant questioning of why the Khuranas aren't staying with their own children, was in parts of a reflection of him too. Perhaps there was a bit of fear of people asking him as to why his Ammi doesn't live with him? Maybe he was trying to find a reason why and compare it with his own situation because he was struggling with this facet of his life.
