But I also feel it has to do a lot with the writers. It’s not just rohit, but most leading men are shown to have these same character traits and women fall for them and stay with them inspite if it, that kind of portrayal doesn’t sit right with me, but at the end of the day it’s a show and these are just characters from someone’s imagination

I haven't watched the show THAT regularly to make an accurate estimate of his character. At some point male leads are portrayed a certain way, and as an audience, I have loved it all. Not model characters, none of the characters I have loved have been model, authoritative too. But well it's a show

People generally blame others first and then themselves, some do the latter. But that doesn't make them desperate or narcissistic. Different tendencies. Extremes are ugly, but in moderation people can manage.

What you are describing is something different. Yeah sometimes people blame others first and then themselves but in a different way. This was manipulation. In this circumstance, Rohit could have easily just said I had no choice, Raima's health was on the line in which case he could avoid facing fault. But turning the tables and making Sona responsible for his emotions is something entirely different.

This was classical behaviour in that conversation. It cannot get more textbook than that. Not to mention the setting in which he interrupted her work to have the conversation. And Sona's reaction wasn't moderate to it either. It is almost an extreme of itself.

Completely agree.

Sometimes is that there is an assumption is that if a guy is occasionally nice or selfless then they aren't narcissistic. But that's actually not true. Narcissists can often seemingly perform selfless acts or do nice things for others. In fact in the beginning of the relationship they can be very loving and almost put the other person on a pedestal. It is called love bombing. That's why people (particularly women) fall for it. And there is the hope that with time the good outweighs the bad. That's why we see it so often in ITV or even dramas from around the world. It rarely works out that way in real life. The red flags that exist at the beginning of a relationship usually worsen with time, not get better. At least not without addressing it and the other person holding to some sort of boundaries.

spot on and I have been trying to say this for a long time, I have zero respect for Rohit’s character.
Also how long will we hide what is actually a mirror to our men in real life under “characters of someone’s imagination” - case in point, that awful awful movie With shahid Kapoor. Kabir singh wotever.

Slowly I will lose respect for Sona too becos to complement this narcissism, she will be painted as mahaaaan and all encompassing

Shoddy writing can be blamed for terrible character depiction. That’s why I am enjoying web series, becos as a character you are held accountable. In ITV soaps, it’s rinse repeat.

Totally agree. Lifelong Sona will be grovelling apologies for Rohit’s lapses. You are not sorry you got angry & misbehaved. I am sorry I made you angry & provoked you to misbehave. Classic!

actually this is exactly how YHM leads were. But I glance at shows and I see it’s the same everywhere ....

My bhabhi says that in a marriage after sometime there is no sorry anymore, it’s understood, but yes there must be repentance, some discussion, some responsibility taken.

I was deeply disturbed when Kabir Singh became a hit...how can the girl go back to a guy like this?????!

Ugh. I saw the original Arjun reddy. Hated that the girl was shown like an object with no individuality or thought of her own. It's not bad to show such movies but it's bad to glorify The lead as a hero sending wrong message to the public that this is machoism to dominate and treat women like that. Disgusting.
