Out of the two, Dadu is the only sensible one. Unlike Beeji, he doesn't live in a delusional world. He has accepted reality regardless of how harsh it is and is prepared to live out the rest of his life in an ashram. At least he's being practical about things. The only problem with him though is that he doesn't speak up when things are going wrong. This might just be that older generation thinking where the men don't want to involve themselves in family politics and just want to focus on their work instead.

I felt for Dadu the most when Babita had her outburst. I had truly felt like Babita was the most disappointed in him because yes, he might have loved her a lot but he failed to act on it. He never once spoke against the injustices were happening against her and that's where he failed her.
