It was a masterstroke creating the male lead as such an earthy guy that most of the audience can relate to, but who has extremely sophisticated and mature thoughts about life. It makes it easier to educate people through him, versus someone who lives in a mansion, flaunts his abs every other second (not that we mind), sulks or sets his jawline, always has perfect hair (I mean, HS looks perfect even in messy hair, but you know what I mean).
