“For me, a father supplies sperm and his part of the chromosomes necessary for life. But a dad? He gives of his time & wisdom while nurturing forever memories and life lessons with his heart.”

― Sandra Sealy

Even after 136 episodes and 6 months YRHPK as a show leaves me spell bound with its direction , its acting and its writing and its ability to give a strong message in a very subtle way. Today’s episode is one for the history books. Never and I repeat never have I ever seen such a well-nuanced conversation between a father and his daughter’s boyfriend. I have yet to come across fathers like Bade Papa and boy friends like Abir Rajvansh in any other tv show. We all love strong woman we all want to be one but if we have men like BP and Abir’s in our lives are strength will increase tenfold. Sometimes all what we need to succeed in life is a little belief in ourselves a little motivation and if we get that from the right people we can move mountains. Today in the truest sense BP showed Mish that he is her real father that he might not be bonded to her by blood but he is bonded to her with all his heart and soul. In stead of giving in to the pressure mounted on him by Varsha and co and instead of blowing the situation out of proportion by mistrusting his daughter he chose to have a conversation with his daughter’s boyfriend too see the potential of the choice his daughter had made. Today BP taught all fathers that if they have raised their daughters well than they need to trust that their daughters will make the right choice and they need to give their daughter and her boy friend a chance to express themselves. This lesson that BP imparted today is the need of the hour its something that our desi society desperately needs to learn because in some facets of society honor killing is still rampant in some places its considered a sin if a daughter falls in love before marriage. The world needs more fathers like Vishmabar Maheswari.

Let’s dig in to the episode now. I am going to jump straight in to the conversation between BP and Abir. BM is sipping on chai when she realizes that BP is nowhere to be found. Shaurya tells her that he has gone outside. Mish is descending the stairs and BM calls out to her that she needs to discuss something with her. Right on cue the door bell rings and as Shaurya opens the door BP walks in with Abir by his side. This scene is underrated but it was very powerful as we see two of the most important men who love Mishti unconditionally walk in through the door. The atmosphere is tense, the constipated expression on Varsha and co’s face shows that they are unhappy to see Abir. Notice how reserved Abir is in this scene. He is not his usual chirpy self rather he sits down a tad bit scared but carries himself in a dignified way. As BP is about to question him his phone rings. He cribs that this interruption is the reason he never wanted to buy a phone.

“Toh phir lia kyun phone” BP asks him

“Godhana kay waqt mujhay laga tha Mish ko apnay dost ki zarorat hain aap log already kaafi pareshaan thay iss liay Mishti aap logo ko aur pareshaan nahi karna chaati thi. Nanu nay mujhay kahan agar teray paas phone nahi hain toh tu Mish say baat kaisay karay ga iss liay mainy phone lia Mish say baat karnay kay liay” He goes on to tell how Mish needed a friend to talk to but Nanu made him realize that without a phone it was difficult to contact him so he got the phone so Mishti could talk to him easily. I loved his honesty here and I am sure both BP and BM did as well. This just took me back to how Mish always used to ask him “Main tum say baat karnay kay liay mari ja rahi thi tum aik phone kyun nahi lay laytay….. abb toh phone lay lo” on her insistence he had finally gotten a phone “Main nay phone lay liya Misthi” Oddly enough this phone was the first material thing that Abir bought due to Misthi in many ways we can say it’s a part of their “relationships firsts’ isn’t it beautiful that the same phone today became the starting point of the conversation Abir is having with BP. The writers always amaze me with how they keep referring to past scenes.

Bade Papa than tells him that he has always been honest with him so right now he is not going to hold anything back and have an open and honest conversation with him. So, he tells him that certain people in his family have openly expressed their dislike for Mishti. Abir counters it by telling on how other members such as Nanu, parul maasi and Ketu and Atul actually adore Mish. At this point Abir knows that his Maa and his bhai don’t like his girl but frankly he doesn’t care so he very respectfully interjects BP and says

“Dekyi uncle main aap ki baat nahi kaatna chaata main aap say argue bhi nahi karna chaata lakin agar aap mujhay aik reason day ga na kay yay risthay kyun nahi hona chaiyay main aap ko do reason dun ga kay yay risthay kyun hona chaiyay” He tells BP that he has a counter argument for all the points BP might raise but today he is not her to argue with him today he just wants the support of the father of the girl he loves. For every one reason on why this alliance is should not take place he can provide BP with two reasons on why it should happen.

The dialogue writers have decided to kill it today because what Abir says next has all my heart.

“Aap dono Mishti kay miracles ho aap dono ki wajah say hi who pyar main yakeen rakh ti hain iss ghar say Mish ko jitna pyar mila hain main uss ki barabri toh nahi kar sakta iss liay main koshish bhi nahi karun gal akin hah zindagi bhar ussay khush rakhnay ki koshish zaroor karun ga. Yay ristha kuch aisa jiasay who kaanch kay box main likha hota hain na handle with care iss risthay upar capital letters main likha hain LOG KIA KAHAY GAY. Kehna ahasan hota hain kay I don’t care hum sa kaha jaati hain logo ki baton aur tano par dhayan mat doh ignore karo yay kehna bohot ahsan hain par karna bohot muskil yay karany kay liay bohot himmat chaiyay hoti hain AUR MAINAY WHO HIMMAT MISHTI MAIN DEKHI HAIN…..Mishti nay hamesha wohi ki jo sahi tha aap nay hamesha say ussay sikhaya galat kay against kharay honay ka aur MAIN MISHTI KAY SAATH KADHA HONA CHAATA HUN uss kay liay aap ki ijazat managnay ahaya hun”

Today this show sheds light on the fact on how relationships are not just limited to a relationship between a boy and a girl but how our relationship with our parents is equally important for our growth. For Mish BP and BM are literal miracles because they took he in when no one from her actual family wanted her. Abir is not going to make any tall claims so he acknowledges that he might never give Mish the same amount of love as BP and BM but what he can do is try to make her happy. Notice on how even here he emphasizes on ‘koshish’ instead of saying it with conviction he is mindful of the fact that one cannot guarantee infinite amount of happiness. I loved the analogy Abir set here with how the alliance is akin to a fragile piece of glass with a warning label of what will people say. This singular phrase has destroyed so many people in the real world and I loved how Abir admitted that it’s not easy to ignore people and their taunts but Mishti is resilient. On numerous occasions she has expressed her POV without caring about other people’s reaction. He knows the sensitivity of the situation and how people will do trash talk but he tells BP that you have raised your daughter to stand up for what is right and from now on I want to stand with her. I am out of words because these dialogues were amazing.

What BP says in response to this is equally beautiful.

“Bahar walay kia kahay gay iss say nah toh humay koi farq padhta hain na hi humrai beti ko lakin aap kia kahay gay Abir iss say bohot farq padhay ga . Agar kal ko Kunal aap say kahay gay kay aap ko Mish aur Kunal main kisi aik ko chun na ho ga toh aap kisay chunay gay agar aap kay aur Mihti ki wajah say Kuhu ki khusiyan doh par lag jayay gi tab aap kia kahay gay. Soch samaj kay jawab diya ga Abir kyun kay iss jawab ar sirf app ka hi nhai humrahy parivaar ka bhi bahivisay tikka hua hain” Bade Papa again takes the award for father of the year as he says that he doesn’t give a damn about what will people say but what he cares about is what Abir will say as he presents him with two scenarios. One where Kunal asks Abir to choose between him and Mish and another where Mishbir’s ristha might jeopardize Kuhu’s happiness. I love how BP expressed that he was fully aware of his Kuhu’s plight as well These are very valid questions that needed to be ask and as everyone is waiting for Abir’s answer with bated breath and homeboy just blows it out of the park.

“Dekhyi Abir hum dono kay parivaron kay beech bohot kuch hua hain”

“Bura hua lakin acha bhi hua aur bohot acha bhi ho sakta hain” Abir is just so optimistic and hopeful it just warms my heart to see the faith he has in his love.

Instead of directly answering the question homeboy decides to do a full character analysis of his girl.

“ Aap ki beti bohot achi larki hain main ussay aur acha toh nahi bana sakata lakin hah thoa bigardna chaaon ga. Ussay lag ta hain iss ghar nay uss par bohot eshaan kiyay hain. Waisay toh badi smart hain intelligent hain samajdari wali baatein karti hain lakin Ehsaan aur pyar kay beech ka farq nahi samah payay. Ussay yay nahi pata kay un ka bacha zimmedar ho toh who bhi chaatyay hain kay unn ka bacha thoday thoday ziddi bhi ho. Agar woh chatay hain who un ki har baat manay who yay bhi chaatay hain kay kabi kabi masoom say chotay chotay jaghay karay

MAIN MAHALON YA AMEERI WALAY WADAY TOH NAHI DAY SAKATA LAKIN HAH ITNA WADA ZAROOR KAR SAKTA HU KAY MAIN MISTHI KO ITNA PYAR DUN GA KAY WOH ZIDD KARNA SEEKH JAYAY GI CHOTI MOTI LADYI KARNA SEEKH JAYAY GI KYUN KAY USSAY MERAY KAHIN JANAY KA DAR NAHI HO GA”

This entire monologue is the crux of Mishti’s character a girl who is so indebted to her foster family that she doesn’t know the difference between favor a love. A girl who once used to be ziddi who once pleaded with her father to not abandon her yet he still did so somewhere along the way woh larki zidd karna hi bhool gayi. He voices out Mishti’s biggest insecurity and assures BP that he will spoil her with so much love and care that Mish will become a little demanding and that one day she will stop seeing herself as a burden rather she will consider herself to be a valuable asset who would never shy away from ensuring that people know her true worth. Than the banjara goes on to say that how with him Mish will never be afraid of getting abandoned and how beautiful is that. The wanderer has finally found his reason to stay. The expressions on BP’s face in this scene are so endearing he almost looks at Abir as if he is awestruck by the fact that his boy knows his daughter better than she knows herself and the offer he has made to BP is something he always wanted Mishti to have in her life. Time and time again both BP and BM have tried to help Mish get over her insecurity but somehow she still harbors and not this guy just wants to go ahead and spoil and pamper hi daughter with the love she always deserved in her life. He is just enamored by Abir and so are we. Abir is one of the best male leads ever.

Than Abir goes on to talk about Kuku and their ristha “Rishton ki Dor un do haathon meh hoti hai, Jin do haathon meh rishton ki lakir hoti hai Agr vo dono saath rehna chahnge toh puri duniya bhi unhey alag nahi kar sakti.” Abir subtly spills some truth tea on Varsha and co. If two people don’t want a relationship to work a third person can’t do anything reminds me of how he said “Aik ristha andar say toot tha hain bhair say nahi”

Homeboy isn’t done though as he reminds everyone that its due to Mishti that Kuku are together in the first place.

“Aap nay jo mujh say sawal pucha hain who Kunal mujh say pooch chuka hain … aur uss kay baad bhi aap kay samnay baitha hu. Mishti ki wajh se Kunal n Kuhu ka rishta hua tha, agar unki wajh se mishti ka dil toota toh who kuch bhi ho ga fair nhi hoga! He says and looks at Mish.

BP has heard enough and he gets up signaling that the conversation is over. Instead of asking other people he chooses to address his daughter “Misthi kay aap abb bhi yay hi chaati hain” she doesn’t utter a word but nods her head silently her Ajeeb Rajavnsh has already done all the talking. Homeboy can’t help but smile at her BP reminds her that “Yay safar boho muskil ho ga Mishit ” to which she replies “Jaanti hu BP” BP looks at her and than at BM who gestures him to give the go ahead.

“Abir hum aap kay saath hain” when he says that notice on how the music stops and the way Abir’s reaction changes to a look of pure joy was so skillfully portrayed by Shaheer. The way he has tears in his eyes but still smiles. “Hum bhi aap kay saath hain ab mian bhi iss parivvar ka hissa hu” he finally is a part of a family who love him unconditionally. He is just so happy bless my poor boy who feels alone in his own family can’t help but feel grateful for his new family where he finally feels he belongs.

The dialogue writers have decided that today they will keep on churning out some of the best dialogues ever written.

Badi Maa walks up to Abir and reminds him of how he wanted her to find someone who was her reflection but today she is handing him over her dil her precious daughter

“Meri parchayi dhoondnay ko kaha tha na apni parchayi nahi apna dil day rahi hu beta” she asks Mish to come forward as the happy version of YRHPK plays she puts Mishti’s hand in Abir;s hands and our babies are crying tears of joy. They have finally gotten their elder’s blessings and Abir clutches her hand firmly trying to express all his unsaid emotions. Today he showed her that “Mainay yay haath chodnay kay liay nahi thamay tha” .

Abir promises to take care of Mish “ Aap kay dil ka pura khayal rakhu ga khud say bhi zyada”

“khush raho” he bows down to take her blessings

“Aap nay meri lay aisa kiya hain jo meri maa bhi meri liya nahi kar payi” This dialogue was gut wrenching as BB has never ever given Abir what he wants rather she has always forced her choices on people.

“Yay Maa hi nay toh kiya hain aaj say main bhi tumhari Maa hu” BM tells him that she is his Maa too from now on and the poor boy who yearns for love is so overwhelmed that he cries and just melts in his Maa’s embrace. Mishit apologizes to BP . They both hug BP and BM and the camera pans on their happy faces. Misthi’s dream finally became a reality. At this point I am not ashamed to admit that I teared up after 136 episodes this moment was so well earned.

Mishbir have finally laid the foundation of their “Pyara sa ghar’ by winning the support of two of the strongest pillars of purity Bade Papa and Bade Maa.

I don't have words to praise the beauty of this whole conversation. Abir won BP over due to his plain, simple yet pure and honest words. Any father would be lucky to have him as a son in law. Instead of making grand promises and praising his daughter for his beauty. Abir chose to compliment her upbringing, her strength and her personality. He reassured BP that he will teach his daughter the real meaning of love. That sometimes it's okay to put yourself first it's okay to prioritize your own happiness. That even if Mish feels indebted to the Mahs that doesn't mean she has to sacrifice her happiness and prove herself. For once it's okay if Mish chooses herself. Today Abir was able to convince BP due to the sincerity and the purity of love he has for Mishti. Yay larka sach main heera hain.

“Chica you're lucky not if you are loved by a man who is wealthy and rich rather you are lucky if you are loved by a man whose heart is rich and pure”

Stray thoughts

• This was super duper long. If you are still reading loads of duas for you

• The Abir/Kunal convo was cute too but I have a feeling that Abir wont make it in time which would further anger Kunal

• Varsha and Co’s faces were a treat to watch in this episode

• We got some saas bahu bonding scenes today it was such a sweet scene

• One of the best episodes of the show hands down

• That precap though Baba wants to meet Abir finally

Hi,

I absolutely loved the way you expressed the poignant scene of the show till date. The conversation was so straight, smooth and yet revealing and reliving. The three most important persons for Mishti are sitting together to speak about her past, present and future family/families. Everything was subtly said by Abir but the message went across to everyone exactly the way it has to be understood by each one. This one scene is the best till now on Indian television... kudos to the writers and makers!

Thank you for sharing your views and giving us a chance to express ours.

Today this show sheds light on the fact on how relationships are not just limited to a relationship between a boy and a girl but how our relationship with our parents is equally important for our growth.

• That precap though Baba wants to meet Abir finally

aur kya bolu? it was indeed one of the best episodes!! i was so waiting for ur analysis..as usual it was wonderful!! humara show bhi kamal ka or hamare fans bhi kamal ke❤️
