no idea but reason had to be huge for him to do what he did but i fully think either it was somehow a fake bullet that only caused a scratch and he had people there to catch her. I also bet you that he was there with her when she was recovering and likely kept tabs on her health in that month.

Seeing his reaction it is clear he knew she is safe and will return home anytime.
