It's been six years since India received a massive blow after Indian actress Jiah Khan committed suicide on July 3, 2013. Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Sooraj Pancholi was accused with severe charges about the same. Back in 2013, Pancholi was in a relationship with the Housefull actress.
Amidst all the allegations and court hearings, Jiah’s mother Rabiya has been seeking justice for her daughter. She has also accused the Hero actor of serious criminal offences. However, Pancholi has maintained his silence on the issue ever since.
Now, Pancholi has finally broken his silence over the case.
During a recent media interaction, Sooraj recalled the whole incident as he said, "I was put in the Anda cell at the Arthur Road jail which is the most secluded cell. You have no contact with anyone and you don't even get newspapers. I was completely numb. At that point, nothing mattered. All I kept thinking was that I lost someone I loved."
Further, he opened-up on being jailed at the age of 21 he said, “I didn't know much about what was happening because I was put into jail and I was 22 at that point of time. I was there for a month. What I was sad about was that I lost my girlfriend a friend I've lost a person in my life that was what I was concerned about I was never concerned about anything else. Oh, shit do I have to be here like that long because I knew I didn't do anything. I thought it was a procedure. I was numb I didn't understand.
“But when I came out, that is when I realized, oh god this is what they have done you know and then I knew it was going to be a long battle for me and my family. My trial has not only been in court it has also been a media trial. I know My battle in court is going to be easy but my real battle is outside the court because that is where people are there,” the actor added.
The case was picked up by the Special Women’s Court and since then apart from the actor, Jiah’s mother has been making the rounds.
Pancholi said, "I have actually been silent because I respect that family. I respect what the family has been through. But the media has become very irresponsible. They only care about their TRPs There are times when I'm in Court and things have been in my favour and a lot of journalists were there. I asked them, "Will you write this?" They told me they won't because it's a positive story and it won't track. It's unfair but I also believe in time."
When quizzed about his recent post on Instagram, he said, “People think of this as my silence and I’ve actually been silent because I respect that family and I respect what has happened with that family. But, at the same time, I'm in court now and I really can't talk right now if I start talking then I will really... get into the negative side of what really I've seen on their side. I don't want to be that negative person I just want to concentrate on my work and I want to concentrate on my family. Mai Kuch bolunga toh vo 100 percent kuch belonged I don't want it to be a war I want peace I want the truth and I want the peace that's all I want. I'll wait it's been a long time now but ill still wait.
