So remember what I said about him letting her choose him as an outlet for her grief? This is it. Right before this she's the one that's pulled away, she's the one that steps back. But her hurt, her grief, her weeks of mounting frustration compel her forward and she nearly falls into him, holding onto him, scolding him, rebuking him.

She has no one else to turn too, she has no one else to pour out the contents of her heart, he has been the only one she can go to since she married him. Even the way she clings to him, when her hands reach him she goes for a hold but then clutches his shirt, swinging him with her. It's so primal, the need to hold onto something when you feel like you're being swept away, and she's clinging to him for fear of her heart drowning her out. Her hands like claws the fist his shirt and not only push him back in grief, but pull him forward in solace as well. She's seeking shelter from the storm inside her heart, but he is both tempest and shelter.

Where do you go? Who do you turn to when the only person who knows your entire heart is also the reason for it being in immense pain? You want to push them away from anger, but pull them in because who else could possibly know you like they do?

And then look at him, he stands stoic, not once does he move in reaction to her. He lets her grab hold of him, and he is pushed and pulled by her, letting her dictate the rate of her ire only if it brings her any comfort at all. The second, the very moment where she rushes towards him and grabs him, he immediately looks down. He can't even look at her, because he's drowning in her grief too. He's suffocating in the realization that he is the reason she's like this. He only looks back up in the close shot where she continues to question him, and he looks right into her eyes, unafraid of her blame or anger, because like a real man he knows that he in part is to blame, and he owns it supremely in this moment where she blames him. He can't run away from the fact that he, even indirectly, is the cause of her pain, and he looks her in the eyes as it to say main tumhara gunegaar hoon. And his expression in the close up shot is everything, it is grief, it is pain, its his own agony at having hurt her, but there is no anger. He doesn't blame her back, in fact there is understanding. He knows what she needs right now is to lash out, and he offers that to her in silence.

As she continues to blame him he looks away, staring off into the house but then his gaze comes back just as her head dips low and she feels like she can't hold herself up any longer. It's when she looks away that he looks back, allowing his gaze to soften, to say all the things he can't.

Yeah I was just about to say this off of Ankie's quote as well! Erica really showed her scope today and she works SO well off of what KSG brings to every scene, but this one especially. You can really tell both of them put a lot of work and soul into it. Not once was I distracted or my attention diverted, I was so invested in both of them and their pain. 👏

Agree. She was good today in this scene. This scene was done pretty well.

Yup. Soulmates, twin flames, destined or fated lovers ... those are such big words to describe something as simple and complex as love. I find the stories where love is forged from rawness to be wholly more rewarding. They defy the stars and the universe and perhaps even fate itself. They were never each other's intended, by the show's logic, but at one point even fate had to bow her head and say 'ahhh so this is it, to not fall in love, but rise in it'.
