In all fairness, keeping my favorites aside.

The 2 superstars of Bollywood has to be Amitabh followed by SRK. Hits & flops don't measure superstardom, hence the likes of Sunny Deol who have given numerous blockbusters are not in their league.

Both AB & SRK might not be the box office pullers nowadays, but when it comes to talking about superstars & super stardom.. these 2 will be first to be named.

Also, the term "star/superstar" was first coined in Indian cinema due to Rajesh Khanna. None of the heroes before him, however legendary they are, had created such hysteria to be called a Superstar. The concept originated with Rajesh Khanna, and it was short-lived as Amitabh Bachchan took over. The fact is that that short-lived stardom (hysteria) of Rajesh Khanna itself is not seen by anyone else.

It is only when hits and flops are counted that "other stars" find a place. The numbers are what gives them a chance. Otherwise, for the sheer hysteria, there is no match for Rajesh Khanna (at his peak) and Big B.

I think the list you showed me is only based on the number of hits, which doesn't always give a clear picture. Because even Akshay has more hits than Salman this decade.

According to overall fan following and crowd pulling, Salman is the biggest imo.

No hits wali list is seperate and Akki is on top there..but its useless as Akki has done double the movies of any Khans so unless its a percentage ...its useless anyways.

Because he was the "first" Superstar and his phase of 16 continuous successful films is considered the best phase. Had heard alot of stories about his mad fan following. In terms of mass hysteria he was even bigger than Big B.

Haan... Rajesh ka superstardom / fandom ke baare mein maine suna tha 😃

On sheer stardom alone, Rajesh Khanna is on a league of his own. Nobody has seen a high so high. As RDB said, the term superstar was coined for him in India. Dilip Kumar, before him, was huge star, but he didn't create the hysteria that Rajesh Khanna did.

Rajesh Khanna is to India what Elvis was to America. He was a demigod.
