Agreed. Space is needed in all relationships... lack of space becomes suffocating at times! I'm all for it... but they should remain best friends... and their relationship should always remain special for them... but they need to give one another some space...

For him its a very sacred place .. removing shoes to enter the room is also symbolic of entering the temple to greet God .. he has given that place to his mother ..

The other interpretation could be .. cleaning the room .. removing the dust .. meant letting go of dark memories, pain .. and letting the new & pleasant memories enter..

But that last dialogue between the 2 was gold for me .. closing a loop - he lost his 2 precious women from his life .. with minnie's entry in to the house, given same feisty personality, imarti returned into his life .. and with the opening of this room & babita's eventual stay in the room, his mother (form) has returned into his life .. reconciliation of his past/pain of his life

But even I would want Jean/Areyaar to interpret this
