One day before the wedding, the ceremony of mayian is performed at the couple's respective homes. The prospective bride or groom is seated on a wooden plank called a patri, and a red cloth is held above by four female relatives, while married women of the household and biradari, led by the mother, rub a paste of turmeric, flour and mustard oil on his or her face, arms and legs. During the ritual women sing traditional songs and those of the biradari receive the ritual gift of gogley (Punjabi sweets specially cooked for weddings) at the end of the ceremony.

By this logic, is the wedding just a day after this ceremony? 😲

Maiyaan is usually the haldi ceremony, and is done on the day of the wedding. After the choora.

Ohh. Haldi and choora chadai I know, but I didn't know it's called Maiyaan traditionally. In my house too it is all done during the morning of the wedding.

what if babita does not need any validation for her mehndi and the next sentence she says is positive. like

but HS loves me, he chose me, he trusts me and she just gets over it.

So I watched two-thirds of the episode; left out the Khurana melodrama.

Mickey was hands down the MVP for me. He's absolutely bang on about Babes needing to learn how to make her own decisions without being influenced or provoked by Minnie or HS.

I can understand Babes' fear of being badmouthed, especially by those whom she served and cared for years. It's hurt terribly when all the good gets washed away by one bad moment. But more than that, I think she's upset by the fact that she knows neither Dadu or Beeji will try to understand her position. They won't see Lovely's biting and ill-timed words. They'll willfully ignore the disgusting comments Lovely made on Babita's character, and instead focus on how Babita had called their daughter's way of thinking low and cheap.

While I didn't watch the last scene, I still stand by the comment that they should have just remained home. They're not attending the wedding for Babita, they're doing it because of their ladli poti. Because it'll make her happy. Eff that fricking shit. I can't stand two-faced people like that. How would Babes feel when she finds out that they only came for Minnie and not her? She's going to feel even more miserable than she already is. As it is, she's walking around with a sulking face on what should be the happiest days of her lives.

I really want Babita to cut off ties with the Khuranas for good now. Minnie can bond with them however much she wants, but Babes shouldn't feel any such pressure.
