His movies where heroines needed to have roles, had significant screen time and roles, Toilet had Bhumi in.a significant roles, Rustom gave Ileana ample moments to showcase complex emotions, Padman had Radhika Apte and especially Sonam in significant roles, Mouni got a strong role in Gold.

Is it necessary to give females screentime, just for the sake of it?? No. No one does that, not even SRK.

It just felt like in movies like Gold (don't think it was a strong role), Airlift, Jolly LLB2 etc. the female leads were just window dressing and kind of useless.

But fair point, not every movie needs to give female characters lots of screentime.

That was the fault of the horrible writing, it was supposed to be "funny" but just like everything else in HNY didn't work at all. CE on the other hand is like one of the rare masala movies with a strong role for the female lead. Just compare Simmba or Singham, Salman Khan movies etc. to it. SRK could have pushed for less so he gets more but didn't.

Which clearly backfired which is why he "gave" her a horrendous role in HNY? Clearly proving he doesn't always "give" good roles to actresses in his movies 😉. Meanwhile the "insecure" Aamir who wants to hog screen space gave excellent roles to all female co-stars in his last two home productions 😎.

It was a strong role for a completely unnecessary character.

I personally think, movies which are non romantic or not about relationships, shouldn't give females or males(if it's a female centric movie) give screen time to romantic songs or romantic scenes much, unless it is completely necessary.

For example, I thought Parineeti's role was absolutely unnecessary in Kesari, rather it made Akhsay's character seem bit mentally effected.

No Katrina. Take Deepika, Kareena or Priyanka.
