OS: VADA PAO
She took a deep breath as she entered in the deserted canteen . The giant clock on the wall ticked 11:59 pm telling her the long day has finally came to an end. She hanged her apron and her pink stethoscope on the handle of one of the chairs and dragged another one making a soft screech echo in the room and sat over it.
On other days she would be always meticulous about her actions but not today. Today she was tired of running the whole day. She was running from one corner to other, from one authorities to other and most probably she was running in between her principles and humanity. But at the end she did it , she could arrange a donor for Neeti and at the end she was successful to save her.
She scanned through the eatery section to find something edible but unable to locate anything she asked the owner “abhi kuch milega khane ko?”
The middle aged owner, while washing the left over plates looked at her and said “ek last bada pav bacha hai. De Doon?”
No, she would never have eaten it. She is always the 'only eat healthy' preacher but then not today . Today the swirling thoughts of how to arrange a liver had completely desensitized her appetite but now since the effect is over her stomach was howling with hunger.
“Theek hai de do” she said with a dissatisfactory tone.
She yawned lazily as she watched the owner placing the small plate of vada pav before her. She squeezed her sleepy eyes with her fingers and grabbed the pav with two hands and took the biggest possible bite she could have. Before she start to relish it a voice hit her ear “ vada pav kha rhi ho wo bhi hath se.”
Ah, she recognized the voice. Who else she would come across at her wee hours of happiness. She grimaced as her senior Dr. Sid sat facing towards her and arching one eyebrow.
“Tum Yaha kya kar rhe ho” her voice muffled while munching the mouth filled vada.
“woi Jo Tum kar rhi ho” he grinned.
“Dada ek vada papa dena” Sid turned to the owner and said.
“Vada papa toh khatm ho gya” the owner replied as he moped the counter.
“achha thik hai” Sid turned back to Ishani and looked at her plate.
A small piece was still left on the plate. A mischievous smile run across his face but Ishani knew it.
As soon as Sid advanced his hand towards the plate Ishani lifted it and swallowed the whole thing down her throat almost choking herself.
“Arey arey ab tum mujhse vada pav chupaogi. Apne boss se” he taunted as he passed the water bottle to her.”
Breathing heavily she gulped down the water.
“koi baat nhi vada pav nhi toh ek hug de do . After all we saved Neeti together” he forwarded his arms to embrace her. He smirked as he knew this would irk her.
“dur raho mujhse” she pointed at him with a warning tone and got up from the chair. She took her accessories and ran away.
“Madam paise” the owner shouted.
“Yeh lo paise” Sid hurriedly gave him the money and ran after Ishani hoping to catch her this time.
