I am fairly sure that Atul was kidnapped by Kethki and Vaaman's gang after he left AN after talking to Anu. Think about it. How else would he have figured out where the attack was happening? And how else would have Kethki known that he was back at AN? I think she has been blackmailing Kaka with Atul.
