'I don't idolise anyone'

Saurabh Pande says he wants to find his own path and not follow anyone

VAIDEHI CHOKSHI

New kid on the block, 19-year-old Delhi boy Saurabh Pande seems set for a long innings. Saurabh makes no bones about the fact that he had always wanted to be an actor. "I am here because I wanted to be an actor and I love what I am doing," he declares.
Saurabh who's done some commercials and music videos is one of the few actors on television to have a six-pack physique. This comes from being a fitness freak who has long work out sessions at the gym. "Sometimes I am not able to hit the gym, but I exercise daily for an hour and ensure that I have a protein-rich diet," says the actor, who's currently seen in Jiya Jale on 9X..
Talking about his leisure activities, the young actor says, "I enjoy cooking, meditating and sketching a lot." So, how good a chef is he? " I am a big-time foodie. I never eat what I cook, but my friends say I am a good cook. They especially crave for my biryani and methi malai," brags Saurabh.
Like a lot of television actors, Saurabh aspires to make it big on the big screen, but is ready to wait for the right opportunity. Does the budding actor idolise someone? "I respect all senior actors, but I don't idolise anyone in particular. I get my inspiration from within," confesses Saurabh and adds, "I don't want to be called a star. Rather I want the audience to appreciate every performance of mine. That will be my biggest reward." How has life changed for the actor after he shot to fame? "Not much," says Saurabh, elaborating, "I can't spend much time with my family and friends, but whenever we are together, we spend quality time. I can be myself with them." If he hadn't been an actor
Saurabh would have opted to be an engineer or a martial arts expert. Ask him who he finds attractive and there's a hint of laughter in his voice, "Well, at one point, I used to find Mallika Sherawat sexy, but I am looking for a new dream girl."

CONFIDENT: Saurabh Pande
