YOU'VE EXPRESSED IT SO WELL! I think it started with intrigue. Okay, somehow my daughter is responding to this woman and her alone. Okay she's Anurag Basus' fiance! Just my luck. The freaking Basus. Then finding out about her. Knowing as much as he could. But obviously, meeting her was a different experience. She was naive, and immature, and desperate but also had this recklessness inside her. And I wonder if he had those exasperating moments of, 'this is who I'm marrying? Really?' but his play and amusement in the face of her complete naivety was such a sure contrast. Him interjecting her at points, explaining the rules, telling her not to reveal her cards so easily, explaining to her what a deal really means and then her what the hell look to his proposal. I feel like he was enjoying her like you enjoy a little kid with all his naive assumptions about a subject you're an expert at. Like little pet, let's play it your way.đ
And then the second meeting, where again he was playing her so calmly. I feel like that balance shifted when they were married. Her devastation and vulnerability combined with how young and naive she is, softened him, that with his guilt, he became so attuned to every nuance of hers. He overcompensates. From picking her calls during meetings to telling her everything, giving her whatever she wants, even when Anurag is standing right in front of him, and being so so perceptive of her moods and desires. That really cements the growth arc btw them.
