It is more than just an episode, it is an experience and that too an overwhelming one. The emotions pierced through my heart and pricked tears into my eyes. With each passing episode I feel can Patiala Babes get any better? And the makers always strive to outperform themselves. Guys this is a long read but I request you to go on because I have rewatched the episode and made a lot of effort to make this post.
Oh I just saw Minnie with that book again! She is so worried about her jawaan maa. She was looking adorable. A part of me is glad that she is behaving like any normal teenager but with the arrival of Babes she has understood that there is more to her parent’s story than just romance.
“Maa ko pehle kabhi dekha nahi?”
“Dekha hai par aise nahi.”
The sharaab ki botal resurfaces. Babita is fearful and insecure about Hanuman’s feelings for his late wife. You know when she said “Imarti ji ko kahi se lakarkhada toh nahi kar sakti naa”, it hurt me. That is how much Babita loves Hanuman. That is how much she can do for him, if Imarti was alive she would have stepped back. His happiness is of utmost importance. “Unki yaadon ko mitatoh nahi sakti naa” This is the point where she is feeling helpless. She very well understands that it is difficult for Hanuman to get over Imarti’s memories. She has been through it. Babita is hurting realizing Hanuman’s immense love for Imarti. This is not easy for her.
Oh my dear heart what did the eyes just witness? There was nothing but pure and unconditional love, selfless too. The whole moment when his little Queen Victoria took the charge made my insides warm and my heart melt. So much can be literally conveyed by mere simple gestures. From the second she ran her fingers through his hair to the instant when he gripped her wrist to not hold the alcohol bottle, it was magic. I loved how they embroidered little attempts into a beautiful start of the day. Right from when she irons his uniform to how she keeps bathing water on the stove to where she gives him the toothbrush after putting some paste on it, I thanked god that Minnie got a hero she could cal lher own. She got her dad. Hanuman was very well awake but just not getting up.The way she tried to keep waking him up in a strict daughter like tone rightfully made me smile. This is what daughters like her deserve. “Betiyan jo hoti hai naa woh baap ki sharaabki botal ko haath na lagaati.” He is with her and she is for him. They belongwith each other.
“Subah subah kya teri mummy ne training dedi tujhe?”
“Achha abhi aapko babes ka order chaahiye, aap apni Veer Baalika ki baat nahi maanoge?”
Did we just get another subtle family moment? Well yes!
“Beti jab maa banne lagti hai naa toh baap bhi bachha sa bann jata hai.” Oh my gracious god can it get any better?
And we get it right; he drinks because her memories make him feel restless. Hanuman’s love for Imarti is beyond what defines mortality but he has been holding on too tight. His understanding of a living being has given my thoughts a new perspective. During this conversation Minnie has got hold of the right weak nerve in him. The way she speaks makes me realize that she wants her Hanuman Uncle irrespective of her mother’s feelings into question. she doesn’t want him to put himself through that pain.
He cried behind the raised bed sheets. His tears brim, his eyes drip. All the walls that held him up and made him strong just collapse. Moment by moment the salty drops fall and drench him in heartache. Perhaps these tears will help him to wash the death from so long ago but they don’t. He presses his heart against these walls hoping for mercy but he fails in his attempt yet again. Maybe he is not at fault, maybe he is nothing but innocent but still he trembles. He can’t- can’t stop himself now. He tries to press his hands against the ways so that they don’tcome down crumbling but everything is raw, his emotions and his tears. He cannot stop? Why can he not stop?
Babita tooka step forward. She admits that falling in love with him was the easier part but admitting it too herself had been hard for her. She has had such efficient defenses for so long. She never noticed that how ever so slowly she fell for him. At one point of time she was at his door and now he is at hers. She could have again questioned herself, put herself through analyzing the whole situation but what’s the point ? He is there … standing for her. Even when sometimes she just hid herself and imagined a distance but she knew he was there. He is there. “Main khoj rahi thi koi aisa jo mujhse bhi zyada Minnie ko pyaar kare.”
“Main kaise aau Naeem Bi” Babita has realized that death came to him in slow rattling gasps that took his wife away. Suffocated by this feeling even his breathing would stop for time unknown to her.Say what? Imarti did not die of child birth? By Naeem Bi’s reaction I think there was no baby either. Then what actually happened? “Arre mujhse kya pooch rahi hai uss Hanuman se hi jaake pooch.” Hanuman and Babita will have to discuss Imarti again. It is not going to be a pleasant sight.
As Minnie goes through Imarti’s belongings, a sense of grief washes over me. There is too much that Hanuman has hidden from the world, there is too much that he has tried to keep safe. He was a happy man at that time. I don’t know why but I am happy that Minnie saw her pictures. Wedding pictures, bangles and a file … what is in that file? Does it look like a case file?
Then came the breaking point of his anger, burning rage hissed through his body like deathly poison, screeching a demanded release in the form of unwanted violence. It was like a volcano erupting; fury sweeping off him like ferocious waves. The wrath consumed like, engulfing his moralities and destroying the boundaries of loyalty. How could his Veer Balika dothis to him? Why did she touch what belonged to Imarti? Why did she step into the dangerous waters?
The team has to take a bow for the sequence that is coming up. Mature Minnie back in action! She questioned her father very correctly. His pain pains her too. Hanuman knew there is no going back from here, this time he has to face it. That if he is brave, his little girl is stronger. “Mari nahi hai woh” His tears kept his soul alive but in the furnace of pain. No one … even his Minnie cannot extinguish what has been, yet only carry him forward until a time when the searing pain is distant enough to forget more than to remember. It may be an oddity but tearful eyes save him from becoming a beast, a person very volatile and indifferent to the sorrows.
“Agar aap ke dil mein jagah already bhari hui hai toh meri babes kaha jaaegi?” She cannot let her mother suffer a heart break again. She will not let that happen. One more Mita? I felt awkward when she equalized Imarti to Mita but then I understood that she is talking about how Imarti is staying his heart just like Mita found a place in Ashok’s heart. Realization dawned on him at this juncture. He is guilty or can he be? He understood Babita cannot suffer because of his memories. Something aches in me when I see this seventeen year old become so mature.
“I really respect you for that.” Talking to father, just like father.
“Saansein chalti hai uski, dil dhadakta hai uska. Dil dukhta hai uska. Zinda hai meri babes. Apne saare desires aur saari insecurities ke saath zinda hai meri babes Hanuman Uncle” He definitely understands that because something breaks in him too. Maybe this is the first moment when he could have thought that he has to move on. Yet again this girl stands alone and strong for her Babes. Even when for a brief second, her heart knows that may be her parents may not get together, maybe she will lose her father to his own fears and pain but her Babes matters the most to her.
Babita is distracted by Beeji and all havan prep but she is so keen on knowing about Imarti. I feel Hanuman will have a meltdown when Babita will ask him about the same.
The family man comes back home. Inspector Hanuman Singh of Patiala Police has given more importance to his home and loved ones than his duty. Yeah he says he can get back to work in time of emergency but more importantly he has come home.
Minnie’s anger is but natural after a reality check where all her fears regarding love are coming true. We might be getting back to square one but she has her best friend by her side.
About theprecap I feel even if Hanuman wants to say something … anything … Pandit jiwill barge in saying “Havan ka mahoorat ho gaya hai.”
Ashnoor and Anirudh truly stole the show today. Lastly thank you so much for bearing with me and reading this whole thing. Tell me about your favorite dialogue from the day!
