His character has definitely been written by a woman, but one who is sensitive to the feelings of men too. Often writers' gender bias reflects in their writing but Rajita Sharma has created a well-balance male lead here.

He is the embodiment of the kind of man that women actually want, not the typical aggressive so-called "romantic" male leads or "heroes" we see on ITV. HS is a hero because he continues to battle against the monster that he claims resides in the hearts of men, not because he is a perfect human being to be worshiped, as that should only be reserved for God.

He is a true feminist because he believes in gender equality, which means he supports and advocates women's right to be independent and to live with dignity, but at the same time does not promote women using the victim card to look for an easy way out in life.

He is a good life partner because he knows how to go with the flow in the peaks and troughs of life while standing by his principles, but at the same time he is not so rigid that he cannot adapt as required.

He is the kind of father children need, one who is selfless in his love, but selfish enough to want to raise them to be a good person by balancing affection and discipline.

He is a good friend/brother because he cares about the other person's intentions and not their social standing or background.

He is a good son because he can see the affection behind the cuss words that a mother unleashes, but never judges her or her wisdom based on her life experiences.

Genuinely speaking I Completely agree with you as most of us,the viewers were instantly attracted towards PB mainly because of the mature yet sensitive n innocent bond between a young mom and her teenage daughter..which in a way is definitely first time highlighted in ITV..yes.most of us though liked babes success..but even i feel the hardships towards stardom was quite rushed..I still remember the job hunt, employment exchange, supervisor job and even governess!!so realistic.. a path full of bitter words n thorn..but she did it...until she recognised her real JOB her passion ie COOKING...it would be really amazing if they showed home catering service little bit competitive rather than a cake walk..buying 10lakh shop easily in auction!!

Coming towards love story..I can hardly name any show which though began with unique concept but ended as a typical love triangle either between besties or siblings ..as a result on of the FL turning a grey or a complete negative character!example ragini from swaragini many more..

Thankfully we dont have to witness wahi gisipiti love..where hero heroine r poles apart..hate each other..slowly fall in love..marry...love triangle..divorce...third person entry..leap..FL with a kid...ML comes to know of the kid..custody case..ML vs FL..finally the child unites parents!!🤣again leap..divorce..marry third person..death...new FL and new ML...🤣

But here babes n hanuman neither disliked each other in the beginning nor had a instant love feeling..even mini though overreacted in the beginning .wants to know babes feeling because she feels HS is a better person her babes have in her life as a epitome of emotional support..LOve angle is the only way of TRP atleast in ITv...

Let's hope for the best..let love story be shown but including the main tagline of show..Waiting to see HS in PB montage..What do u guys think??

......BE HAPPY....

@bold

You know, I've been wanting to write to the makers about this. He's not a side character or supporting role. He is one of the leads and is crucial the story. In addition, he has also embarked on a journey of his own since mother-daughter came in to his life just like he came into theirs. In fact, I think there is a lot of potential to explore his childhood trauma further. I hope they show us that.

By the way, his father's death was never mentioned. Does that mean he is alive and might show up one day? I don't think so because HS is living in his house alone, but who knows?!

Even hs is not perfect but his positive traits are so many that there is no place for negative things to survive. He is what he is coz he took positives from life. His mothers suffering and wifes death too are responsible for what he is today.hs is like the sutradhar of the show. And babita is the amalgamation of what many women go through in life. Now they are exploring the remarriage of divorced women if they find the right guy then there is nothing wrong on moving forward in life and also a lesson for kids to be supportive and respecting their parents choices. hs fits the bill perfectly of that kind of guy with whom you can move on.

Well can't agree more. He's neither mahaan nor grey. He definitely has flaws. In fact all the characters have their flaws. And it's the flaws which makes them relatable and more lovable.

I've not been a fan of Mahaan leads. But Hanita or In fact Minnie, all have their own share of flaws but still have their heart in the place.

Some shows have such characters where the lead will never be wrong. But here we have seen everyone doing something wrong at some point, but what makes it adorable was they all accept their mistakes and not white wash it and apologize to the respective person.

HS when he shouted Babita for using his name as recommendation, he apologized later, Babita when she thought HS was separating Minnie from her during that Karate practice 😆, she also apologized later on to him, Minnie at present,.... So yeah this flaws makes them more likeable. I always love that about PB writers.

I would have left this show the moment any of those 3 became mahaan. We have enough of that on ITV. The other issue I see is that even in shows where they want to show the characters with flaws, they fail to provide a proper background or they go extreme with the flaws. In PB, these things are realistic and addressable too, and can often be put in the bucket of "such things happen from time to time in life". That's why it's convincing.

I understand the sentiment in not wanting everything to turn into a love story. But I guess in this show atleast this would be an inevitable part of the story; mainly to show the idea of a woman finding a second chance at marriage and love.

Coming to Babita's struggles at work, the writers showed that nicely in her pre-catering phase. Her struggles at the tailoring place and governess job was nicely shown. But the writers seem to not know how to balance and realistically show the same in her catering career. I guess it is not their forte or they think the viewers are not interested. So the focus is more on what they think is the USP of the show; i.e. the dynamics among Babita, Mini and HS, and this has now progressed to the love phase.

Ideally, I would have liked both the career struggles and the love story to be given equal importance. Even though the writers messed up the catering aspect a bit, this show is a lot more than just a love story... it's primarily about a mother and daughter, their struggle and winning through a bad phase, them coming across a person i.e. HS in this journey of theirs who supports them and how he ends up becoming an important part of their lives. IMO, this is so much more than what regular ITV shows are able to deliver these days.

Correct these small things were also a part of the main storyline and were well set...like she failed in two three Jobs earlier on before she realised her real worth...her real passion which was cooking...till then it was all going well...and it seemed like the initial part carved the storyline for the next which was Babes becoming a famous chef ...which never happened ...the transition and the journey was cut short ...and what was shown was instant stardom...just because they wanted to go on with the love story ....when...instead of the love story becoming an integral part of the main story the main story became just a part of the love story was not so very evident ...it just happened ....baki agree that Hs is a good human being and would turn out to be a supportive husband....someone a lady like Babita hurt in love would look forward to be with ...

even when naeem bi for th first time told hs feeling to babita, she did not give any mahaan lectures. But she had something for hs during that time too. Just she was not addressing it for the sake of her daughters happiness which generally every single mom do unless and until they are utterly selfish. What i am liking is after knowing that babes too like hs, minnie has started playing cupid and respecting her moms decision. Which i feel every child should do who have good people and surroundings around them. Hope i made sense.

Hey Reshmi, (that's your name I guess)

I think you've posted about this topic before also once...

Like is love story is what everyone wants? Definitely not. I'd have been perfectly happy if there wasn't a love story between HS and Babita. Just mutual friendship would have been enough and some good tracks surrounding them.

But our desi soaps can't do without love stories for a reason, unfortunately.

Can't be general about others, but if I speak for myself, every show I have watched, I'd like certain male and female characters friendship and would be hoping against hope that they should never bring a love angle between them and let them stay friends forever.

Especially one pair i was so pissed when they brought the love angle which I can remember now is Star Plus Manmarziyaan's Sam and Neil, as I've discussed in this very forum a few months ago. But our soap writers never let them be.

They showed an absolutely amazing guy like HS , we all start liking him immediately. And then they show those characters fall in love with FLs at some point of the story. Owing to the love we have for that adorable male characters, the viewers are like forced to hope for a love story rather a heartbreak for them... And when the track is developed, it's impossible not to enjoy the romance....

Hmmm yes that I did mention earlier ...HS has been shown to b a gud guy ..very understanding very supportive and someone who respects women a lot...and every girl wants her husband to be like him....ppl have loved him thru out ...and hence makers might have decided to change the plot as finally they would go for wat audience likes to and wants to watch....

The love story was always meant to happen. The signs have been there from the beginning. For that matter, you could also say that they didn't have to bring up the father-daughter angle either, but it was also always planned. If nothing else, the last 2-3 episodes proved that they had sowed those seeds within the first couple of weeks after HS entered the show.

I agree with those who say it could have been left as a friendship with more focus on the PB path to success, as well as with those who don't mind a love story. However, I do not really consider this to be a love story in the traditional sense. To me this is a story of love.

In terms of human relationships, it's about the love between mother and daughter, Dadu-Beeji and their (selfish) love for their kids, parent-child bond between HS and Minnie or Naeem Bi and HS, HS and Lala as brothers.

We also see the love that Babita has for cooking and now for her business, Minnie's love for travel photography (though they haven't explored it yet but will in future I'm sure), HS' love for his work and his patriotism, etc.

The Hanita love story serves to show:

  1. That women have the right to choose to live independently and with dignity, without the need for a life partner. If they have one it's because they want him, and not because they need him for material purposes, rather for emotional support (as HS said the other day).
  2. That there are men in the world who desire divorced women, even those with kids, for their personalities and not just beauty or wealth, so that women remain open to remarrying and do not despair that they will never be accepted by another man because they are divorced, with kids.
  3. That there are children who love their mothers but some respond differently to abusive fathers. What stays with them and how they evolve without letting their hearts become so bitter that they cannot spread or feel love as adults makes for interesting perspectives.
  4. That love is not only about romance or about blood ties but that bonds that form during trying times are lasting, and that women who do not get support from family members should be optimistic that there are people like HS and Naeem Bi out there who will stand by them without any selfish reasons. (I had the same experience myself with rock-solid friends who held my hand as I weathered storms, when my family was not there for me).

@Reshmi.parekh78, thank you for voicing your opinion, dear. That's what this forum is for. I totally understand your point of view as do others, but what made me feel bad was that you sounded extra cautious and a tad apologetic for airing your thoughts. Please don't feel that way. We won't judge you for your perspective, rather we love hearing from everyone because brilliant shows like this make us question social norms and the behavior of characters. This should be a space where you are comfortable to speak up without worrying about backlash, especially considering you have been respectful and polite. Keep your posts coming! 🤗

Nicely put forth...agree that lots of positives aswell...🙂 no I m not apologetic at all...I think many of us will have views ...some will match some will not ...it is fun when some ppl think like us... there is so much to discuss ..but again Watz the fun if everyone thinks the same ...then how do u get to know different view points ...different perspectives 🙂 again there is so much to discuss ....I just put it down that way as few ppl might not like a contradictory view point....but just like I st😌do read and think over wat someone else puts forth I do hope everyone is open to wat another person feels ...just like u are 🙂
