I think this is just a ploy for Atharva to figure out his next move - he cannot pretend to be crazy forever nor can he plan another escape from the country, so his only solution is for him to stop Mudga's testimony. One way or another, he will figure out a way to keep Mudga from testifying. That is the only way Atharva's track can continue. Also, the actress that plays Mudga is shooting at the THR set, at AN.
