OKAY MY SADIST EVIL BAJAJ IS BACK. Do I care? Nope.š¤
Read at your own peril. Also I always put in time for the drafts I put on my thread but yeh wala raw hai so ignore the glaring mistakes.
Rishab drove past the cluster of people and headed for the stairs, taking two at a time. Two more floors, and one corridor ahead, he slammed inside the room and pinned Anurag Basu to the spot with a withering glare.
āI thought I made myself clear Mr. Basu,ā he took a single, menacing step toward the man on the other side of the room, āwhat is Prerna doing here?ā
They had a plan. A ludicrous and flimsy one as far as Rishab was concerned. But Ronit had been out of range for a while. None of them knew where he was and heād escaped prison a month ago. All the facts they had boiled down to one insurmountable point: time was running out for him and he was gunning for Prerna.
Which is why both Rishab and Anurag knew heād look for a public opportunity to get to her. And he had that in this party. And so the trap had been laid.
But for that to go as smoothly as Rishab wanted, Prerna had to be out of the vicinity.
The problem? She was still here. And they expected Ronit to appear any moment.
āYou think Iām not aware of the fact that sheās in danger?ā
āAre you Mr. Basu?ā Rishab raised a brow, āwhat are you doing about it then?ā
Anurag sighed, āsheās stubborn. She wonāt listen. Sheās on some agenda of her own. Some stupid, idiotic scavenger hunt. The girl is playing detective and just wonāt budge.ā
Rishab cursed under his breath. Of course, she was. How dare she sit and play passive when she could be Indiana Jones, front, left and center of the stage. Being thickheaded and stubborn in the direst of situations was her modus operandi.
Junior Basu was useless and Rishab was growing exasperated, āhow is that every time you open your mouth, itās to deliver a chorus of excuses, Mr. Basu? You had one job. One menial, trivial responsibility and youāre telling me you canāt even manage that?ā
Anurag folded his arms, āyou might have been married to Prerna for a while Mr. Bajaj, but you donāt understand her. When sheās stubborn about something, you can bet your billion bottoms that she wonāt budge. Sheās dug her heels in and shut her ears and Iāve tried every trick in the book, but sheās adamant.ā
Rishab watched him a beat then turned for the door, pausing for only a moment, āwhere is she?ā
āI saw her on the second floor. Why?ā
āTake care of the security check Mr. Basu. Iāll take care of your problem. And one friendly advice? Stop playing by the goddamn book.ā
He spotted Prerna near the stairs on the second floor and hastened his steps. She stepped inside the elevator and he went after her, hammering his fist against the keys and forcing the elevator to go up instead of down.
The doors shut behind him and Prerna studied him, both curious and alarmed. The color in her cheekbones rose and she took a step back, wary of his intense appraisal of her, āMr. Bajaj. What a surprise.ā
āCut the crap Miss Sharma. Youāve watched me half the time youāve been here. What are you up to?ā
āItās none of your business. And will you please press the first floor?ā
He cast a sardonic glance at the keys, āI donāt think so.ā
Prerna straightened her shoulders, āfine then. Iāll wait until youāre off.ā
Rishab pressed against the wall, sideways and remained quiet, waiting. The elevator only took a few seconds. Once the keys tinged and the door opened, he caught Prernaās hand and pulled her along.
Startled, and furious, she resisted but he was in no mood to entertain, āwhere do you think youāre taking me? This isā¦this is kidnapping.ā
Rishab didnāt respond and pulled her inside a vacant room, shutting the door behind them.
Prerna whirled on him, fury lighting her eyes and poison gracing her words, ātime for enlightenment, Mr. Bajaj. The next time you manhandle, stalk and intimidate me, I will be putting my fists in your face and trust me, itās going to hurt you.ā
āGreat. Weāll wait for next time to have this discussion then. Now on to important things.ā
āWait. Youāā
āI need you to leave,ā he deadpanned.
Prerna paused, āwhat?ā
āRonit will be here any moment. And heās gunning for you. Not me. Not Mr. Basu. You. We have a plan we need to execute. And we canāt do it with you distracting us. Iām calling the driver.ā
Prerna scoffed, āfirst of all, Iām not an idiot. I know Ronit is after me. And I know how to use a gun, so you can tick that one off your list. Point number two, Iām here for a reason of my own. And nobody is going to tell me what I can and cannot do.ā
āReason of your own?ā He said drily, ālet me guess. Youāre afraid something will happen to Mr. Basu so youāve donned your wonder woman costume and decided to play party.ā
Prerna stilled, āthatās notā¦youāre not even near the mark.ā
He studied her a beat, and shook his head, āyouāre leaving Prerna. And thatās the end of it.ā
She folded her arms, āno. Iām not. And thereās nothing you can do about it.ā
āIām not Mr. Basu Miss Sharma,ā he said softly, āthereās a lot I can do about it.ā
Prerna felt a shiver slither up her neck but remained firm, tilting her head to the side, āwhat are you going to do? Drag me to the car? Iāll scream the house down. Pull a gun on me? Come on. Threaten Anurag or my family? For a party? Again, too trivial to be your style. I think weāve run out of ideas here Mr. Bajaj. Now if you will excuse meāā
In a lightning move, his arm came around her waist and he picked her up. She lurched and a scream left her throat before her fingers found purchase on his shoulders. He took three steps to the table that sat in the middle of the room and pushed her down, walking between her parted legs, and pinning her hands on either side of her, his fingers stamping above hers.
Breathless, and shocked out of her wits, she gaped at him, āwhat are you doing?ā
He looked down at her and the midnight in his eyes had turned a pitch black. A dangerous resolve had crowded his features and the tick in his jaw sent a jolt through her stomach. They were close. Too close. His breaths fanned her face and his scent went to her head. Prerna looked up and glared, trying to put everything else on the backburner. She wouldnāt allow him to intimidate her.
āLet me go this instant,ā she hissed, āor youāll catch hell.ā
āIām going to say it one last time Miss Sharma. And when I do, youāll nod your head like a good girl, follow the elevator down the parking lot with one of my guards, get into the car, and leave.ā
Her eyes watched his mouth move and an ember of lust set a bonfire inside her. She wet her dry lips, forcing his eyes to drop and the heat of his gaze scalded her, throwing her beating heart into a frenzy, forcing her muscles to clamp in need.
She moved her hands but they remained immobile under his hold. Frustrated, she bestowed her fakest smile at him and issued a challenge she wasn't entirely sure about, āgo. To. Hell.ā
And his answering smirk proved it.
"I gave you a choice," he whispered before catching her hands, pushing them across her chest, and locking his wrist around hers.
āWhat are you doing?ā alarm colored her voice.
Rishab reached behind her with his spare hand and pulled the clip out of her chignon, forcing her thick, velvet locks to fall around her. His fingers caressed the stray wisps and pulled at the strands until they pooled around her neck in disarray.
He freed her hands and she reached for her hair only to go rock solid midway.
His fingers were wrapped around the sleeveless straps that held her dress up.
āWhat are you doing?ā she whispered.
He looked determined and unapologetic, āIām sorry about the dress.ā
And then in a flash the straps were gone. An elastic pop sounded the air and she felt the cool breeze on her bare shoulders. Shock rendered her speechless and she reached for her falling dress, clutching it across her breasts and staring at him in mute horror.
He took off his coat and draped it around her, pushing her fingers against the lapels and stapling them over the material of her dress so she could hold them together.
āIād wipe some of that lipstick off but Iām afraid thatās more than you can take for now.ā He swiped open his phone and dialed his guard, āIām on floor six, third room to the right. I want two of you to come here and escort Miss Sharma to the car and safely drop her home. Youāll stand guard over her house until I tell you to do otherwise.ā
Prerna shook her head, āI hate you.ā
Rishab drew close and let his eyes take in their fill, āif you go back to the party like that, people are going to get ideas. Ideas I would do everything to encourage.ā
Pure rage washed over her, eclipsing everything else. She raised her hand to slap him but he caught her wrist midway, not flinching for a second. His eyes dropped to the ring around her finger and when they turned back on her, the heat was smothering, āif you put your hands on me in such passion, Iāll have to return the favor. And trust me, love, youāre not ready for that.ā
They remained locked in a challenge, in a stare pregnant with unnamed emotions, animosity and something much much more. Something that terrified her. A sizzle burned between them and ballooned around them until the room was practically vibrating with it.
His gaze dropped to her mouth and the flare let loose somewhere inside her chest. She clutched at the coat and tore herself out of the trance, shaking with the effort it took. They remained in shared silence until the door received a series of knocks, and Rishab pulled away.
The guards had come and the moment was over.
He folded the sleeves of his shirt and waited for her to leave.
And she did, but not before having the last word, āone of these days, Iām going to win Rishab Baja. I will bring you to your knees and thatās a promise.ā
And he watched her leave, a smile turning up his mouth. He'd go on his knees for her, alright. But the scene in his head was far too erotic for her to sum up.
The pain and hurt in his eyes š
