I had no money when I came here for MS 2 years back, therefore I had bought all essential stuff like Toothbrush , Handkerchief , Batteries , Stationery etc all from India.
once you go to college - depending on your college, try to get in touch with Indian student Association of your college
Try to get Graduate Assistant job early on. That will give you SSN card. International students on F1 are not allowed to work outside campus
Main thing - Try to find good roommates and house.
Try not to fall sick or take unnecessary risks as Medical is very costly
Good luck
Covers a lot of it! ... I came similarly for further studies few years ago and East coast as well ... Winter was brutal .. so make sure to buy at least good quality jeans ... Jeans work year around so more the better! ... Also clothes in India have on par with fashion .. so buy as much as you! ...
I bought winter coat here since it's heavy and space consuming so hard to fit in the luggage ... Once you're here you can get someone's guidance and they can get you equipped with places which sell reasonable priced good coats!
Also buy the undergarments you're used to from India ... I had hard time initially since sizes are different here along with style ... I wish I had bought more of that from India! .. [Same with shoes as well ... try to get good winter boots from there]
About jobs, try to get one ASAP since any kind of part time job will help you stay afloat and you don't have to trouble your parents for it! ... Universities usually have a centre that can help you find jobs within ... so try that fosho!
That's all I can think of for now! ... Good Luck and look forward to your journey ... It's a hard lifestyle but it can also be quite fun!

University has Insurance. I would suggest to buy Insurance from Uni along with when you pay your tuition fee.
Student insurance has more coverage, it’s cheaper and also, medical facilities within universities are easier option if you ever have to consult a physician.
Along with what Sherlock said, I would say try and look for a apartment close to your college. Helps in lot of things and also you don’t miss out. International student association has many great programs and festival celebrations. You won’t feel homesick initially. I missed out a lot of fun staying away.
Back when I came Social Media wasn’t as popular as it is now. You will find your Unis Indian student groups on facebook, contact them. If you are coming alone, you can find roomies, accommodations and lot of recommendations from your Uni seniors thru these groups.
Don’t get the winter jacket from India. Won’t help. Get one jacket from here which can sustain snow and wind.
You are coming in September intake so you won’t need winter coats right away.
Sounds fancy, apna time bhi aayga.(not US)
Congratulations and all the best
Thank you everyone for your valuable comments 🤗

Firstly congrats...do well.
I have just one important advice, accept and adapt the place you are going to live in for the next 2 years. The sooner you openly accept and adapt , the better your quality of life would be
Don't compare your life in India to here. It will make you miserable.
Just take every day as it comes. Enjoy the experience.
Never come back to this shithole.😆
