If she was not married then as soon as she finished her college degree she would start working. A small job but like the owns most middle class girls start with.

But as a Basu Bahu, her path to working has to be part of a story line. There is not logical reason for her to basically start looking for secretarial jobs right at this moment. For me that would seem unrealistic.

From what I hve observed of these sort of families during my visits to India is that they expect their daughter in laws to do nothing until the daughter is law slowly realises as is young and bored and wants something to occupy herself. And this is in a hapoy situation. In an unhappy one, as Prerna’s will be, she will be forced to work soon.
