I think it was better that they showed Pi making the marriage happen by mind controlling all. At least then the character of Ra would not have been spoiled. Remember the one who plots the fake marriage and fools his entire family is the same one who shouted at Dri post their marriage " What have you made me do!" for unintentionally being a part of Dri's cheating.
