RB cancelled the Australia plan when Prem fell ill and a shocked and grateful Prerna couldn't hold herself. She got overwhelmed with emotion and rested her head against his chest with folded hands. RB's hesitation in reciprocating that mini hug was so well enacted by RR. He wanted to comfort her but the anti-intimacy deal wasn't allowing him to do that freely without havering.

See she was the first one coming close to him in a gesture of thank you. She didn’t need to put her head on his chest but she did and he kept his distance.

He puzzled her at times as he had different shades to him

That's true. RB's sudden decision puzzled her as he was adamant upon moving to Australia. After she went to her room, she sat pondering over RB's sudden change in her favour and concluded that she has misunderstood the man.

Next morning, she said to herself, "Main dekh rahi hoon woh dheere-dheere baaton ko samajhne lage hain. Aur jo baatein dil se hoti hain, unke liye dabav nahin dala jata"
