I love this movie. It was on tv couple of weeks ago and I couldn't catch it there. But it kept running on my mind and i saw it last weekend on amazon. This movie is so intense and i love the parts after Zaara returns to pakistan.

Coming to your question, I don't think so. Infact, that was the surprising twist in the movie that made everything more beautiful. Her sacrifice didn't get the screentime like veer's coz it was to be kept under wrap. At the end of the movie, i could feel for both the protagonist and their love for each other.

yes that twist was needed to wrap the movie .. but overall i feel , Veer's sacrifices got more importance than zara..

Love this movie! Yash Chopra's best last movie imo! Jab tak hain Jaan was just like torture apart from the songs maybe... The movie, the songs, the cinematography, the love, the separation, the pain, the love for thy country and their religions ok I could go on.. I miss such lovely movies from Yrf that we have grown up on also want to go and re-watch hum-tum (sorry this is unrelated to your post) basically those 2000s movies we grew up on however filmy were gold.

In terms of Zara's story yes it would have been nice to see her sacrifies though we do see it when Rani's character (Samiya I think) goes to Veer's village and sees Zara living there and how she has made developments. But yeah it was from Veer's pov and the movie is only 2.5 hours or something.

Off topic: When ever my mom watches the movie, she always wonders why Shabbo didn’t get married. She always goes she could have found someone nice. I think her sacrifice should be highlighted too.

I did not understand why they made Veer Zara look like ninety year old after the break (grey hair with shaky legs).

Amitabh-Hema's characters looked age appropriate. Then why make Veer Zara look older than they were? (I understand stress. But they looked one generation extra).

On a serious note, Zara still had freedom. Being locked up in a prison automatically takes that away. Zara could interact with numerous people on a daily basis. Humans are social beings and need that. Veer was left all alone in a cage. Zara was still given respect as a teacher and an educator. Veer was treated like a criminal for no reason.

It is easy to look at this through the lens of man's sacrifice versus the woman's sacrifice. But objectively speaking Veer's sacrifice involved a lot more suffering on his part. But of course, anyone dedicating their life to the cause of advancing women's education should be revered. Both sacrifices required lost of love.

But Veer had option to talk n fight for his cases, but he choose to be silent for 22 years on sake of zara's pride... of course this is a great sacrifice , i never deny.

equally zara choose to be with veer's family forever for fulfilling veer's wish to build girl college, leaving her country, family everything, knowing the fact she will get nothing in return.

both sacrifice their lives for the sake of love, both suffer equally in their own way ...

bass i wish to watch zara more , specially that part how she fought with her family.

veer n zaara's sacrifice is similar to the protagonist of the gift of maggi. so tell me tm which sacrifice will u weigh in scale as greater? veer chose to endure n remain silent. zaara choose to do all the unfulfilled duties that veer would have otherwise done in his village.they were equals. neither he outshone her nor she.if we must talk abt an unsung sacrifice then it has to be the lady who attended zaara. I am sorry I cannot recollect her name. but the lady who also escorted veer n sheltered him in her house n followed back zaara to veer's village deserves more praises than she is credited with. veer did for his kove. zaara did for her love. why did the lady need to suffer along with veerzaara tell me? she is what represents humanity. her sacrifice is greater imho.
