Haven't read the entire long thread yet but I would say the main appeal is to be apart of the big well-known rich bollywood legends Kapoor family, though they would never admit it. These women dream of being Kapoor Bahu like little girls dream about being princesses. That's why they are so depressed when he breaks up with them, their dream destroyed by Prince Ranbir. If Ranbir wasn't Raj Kapoor's grandson and was just a random outsider guy I don't think he would be getting as many girls falling at his feet.
