Minnie and her yaar

Does anyone else find it annoying how Minnie constantly says yaar? Every other word she says is yaar. I don't know if she's trying to be cool or what not, but whatever it is, I'm finding it really annoying.

Agree sometimes it's annoying

In many towns in northern India & also in Mumbai, it is common for young people to use yaar to address practically anyone & punctuate their sentences with yaar - pretty much like the Aussies use ‘mate’. It makes the show more authentic by using local slang.

As for being annoying - isn’t it much better than many Americans & even the English-speaking elite in India peppering their sentences with the f word? If u watch English movies & tv shows u wld know what I mean ;-)

i don't find anything annoying in "yaar "word.actually sometime i too use yaar whenever i called my friends.even i saw many of them who uses yaar between their friends & family members.it doesn't mean they are trying to become a cool.it just that its a usual habit.same as in the show khatri's habit is constantky says "otherwise mat lena".same as mini habit is use again & again "are yaar".

Its definitely much calmer than the foul language used by people these days. Honestly, I hate it when people use slang words (Both Hindi and English), but yaar is no big deal. It's a common way to express affection among friends. But, she must reduce the usage while talking to elders. That gets a bit disrespectful....

I dont find 'yaar' word annoying at all. It is also casually used by mumbaiites as well. Its a decent word, not at all like that f*** word, which people now a days use casually as if it is a great word.

I am from 90s era. In college in those days, we used "yaar" a lot. At that time, "F" word was not generally heard among college kids. Some exceptions may have been there. So I don't have any problem with yaar. It is a nice, lovable word. However, it will be good if she does not use it so much for adults. Again, there is nothing wrong with it. Maybe in 21st century, that is okay. We used it mainly for friends and kids of our own age or younger or slightly older but not for parents or aunts and uncles and grandparents.

I'm not in any way comparing it to the F word. I'm just saying that literally every other word she says is yaar and it is excessive. Any word in excess can be annoying.

I noticed it as well..she overuses the word a lot....it's almost how westerners say um and like all the time

Also it does sound weird when she calls NaemB yaar..she is grandmotherly

It's okay when addressing friends but it does look odd for adults

I wonder if it's the character or actress that is saying it...Minnis dialogues may be loosely scripted..she seems to use yaar when is at a loss for words/figuring out how to reply
