Kapoor's wedding gift to Deepika Padukone holds great significance

Neetu Kapoor gifted a beautiful bracelet to Deepika Padukone when the actress visited Rishi Kapoor in US. Rishi Kapoor was undergoing treatment in US for cancer. Recently, the actor was declared cancer free.

The bracelet, which had a specially-crafted (palm-shaped) Hamsa amulet on a gold chain, was from the Neetu's daughter, Riddhima Kapoor's Sahni range of fine RKS jewellery.

The bracelet that Neetu gifted Deepika has a great significance as it is an ancient Middle Eastern amulet symbolizing the Hand of God. It is a protective sign that brings happiness, luck, good fortune and heralth.

A source close to the development told an entertainment website, "Some of RKS jewelry, while now available online, including the Hamsa amulet, are made specially on order. When Deepika had informed Neetu earlier that she would be visiting the Kapoors, Neetu had got the gold chain with the diamond-encrusted pendant made for her. It’s a combination of blessings and a wedding gift from Rish and Neetu for Deepika."

The source added, "The Hamsa amulet is also referred to as the hand of Fatima, Hand of Venus (Aphrodite), the Hand of Mary, the Hand-of-the-All-Goddess, Mano Pantea and in the Buddha’s gesture (mudra) of teaching and protection. The hand can be depicted with the fingers spread apart to ward off evil or as closed together to bring good luck or pointing up or down to bestow blessings.

Deepika shared the picture of the bracelet as her Instagram story.

Neetu Kapoor also took to Instagram to share pictures from Deepika's visit. She wrote, "Such a fun evening with adorable @deepikapadukone...gave lot of love n warmth (sic)."

In September 2018, Rishi Kapoor took to social media to announce that he was going to America for some medical treatment without disclosing his disease.

Recently, Rishi's close friend, Rahul Rawail, revealed that the veteran actor is recovering fast and is now cancer-free. Rishi Kapoor then decided to talk about his battle with the illness. "My eighth month of treatment started on May 1 in the US. But God has been kind! I am in remission, meaning now I am cancer-free," he told a daily.

He added, "I will have to do a bone-marrow transplant which in all probability should take another two months minimum." However, Rishi says he is very upbeat and is looking forward to returning home. He said, "Being in remission is a big thing and it’s all because of my family and my fans prayers and duas that have worked. I thank them all."

Coming back to Deepika Padukone, the actress dated Ranbir Kapoor started dating in 2007 but the couple broke up in 2009. Deepika went through a rough patch after their break up as the actress suffered from depression.

Ranveer Singh (now Deepika's husband) stood like a rock beside her and helped her get through her depression.

Earlier, in an interview with India Today Deepika talked about depression. She said, "There is this perception that if you have everything - fame, money, family - why should one be depressed. It is important to understand what depression is and why it happens. It is a clinical condition that is beyond your control."

She said that depression could happen to anyone at any point of time, irrespective of economic background or status. "That's why I came out with my experience: there is a lot of stigma attached to mental illness, to seeking help and a lot of misinformation about what it is and why it happens. It was important for me to be a part of creating that awareness," she said.

Deepika recently dazzled at the 72nd Cannes International Film Festival. On the work front, the actress is currently working on Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak. The actress also ventured production with the film

Deepika actually put that bracelet on and posted a picture. I remember Alia never even took the thing out of its packaging. She posted a picture of her gift in its cheap plastic package. Maybe if Neetu crops others out of pictures for Alia then she'll wear their gifts 😂.
