SPM~My musings 7.5.19 A meek spirit or a universal thorn?

Who would have known, that the gentle, docile, and patient Kainat will create such a stir! Where measures are taken by family members to curb her otherwise low profile ,yet significant presence in the Ghazi Shah household. Kainat poses a threat, to Mamoon achieving his dream . Kainat ruffles Zaroon’s feathers, where gaining Saltanat his Sufiyana love is concerned. Still she holds a quiet worth. Thus various camps for their specific motives, hone in upon Kainat’s input.

Saltanat too is no less defined in her stance. She shows her mother Rubina ground reality. That rather than still dream about getting her married to Zaroon. Rather sharply, she tells her mother Rubina, to first undo Zaroon’s name, that the elders of the Shah family have etched upon Kainat’s heart.Rubina, of course avoids direct confrontation and showing defiance of an alliance set up by Mainjaan. As such, Rubina has to contemplate other options.

However we see, how Rubina and Ghazala manipulate Kainat into convincing Saltanat into marrying Zaroon, by telling Saltanat, verbatim, that she has no feelings for Zaroon. But over here, have to say the sisters are open with each other. Kainat confesses, Rubina and Ghazala primed her to say what she said! Saltanat , wants to know what Kainat wants? But as usual Kainat , repeats, her decision lies in what god decides for her. So the stubborn streak runs between the two cousin sisters too. Saltanat maintains, that Kainat may not give her a straight answer, whether she likes Zaroon or not? but she will ensure that Kainat gets married to Zaroon!

Kainat , the universal thorn, as Dadi calls her, is much in demand. In one instance, Kainat’s vital services are sought to make smooth the way that leads to regaining the family Sufi legacy. In the other instance, Zaroon .sees her as a submissive, yet nevertheless, an impediment between him and Sultanat. Zaroon realizes he has to devise fresh strategies where he can remove her as being the potential obstacle that check his dream from coming true.

I did feel, though, that Sufiyana love, may be the real issue with Kainat, Zaroon and a denying her love Saltanat . But the rest of the Shah clan is predominantly under the spell of gaining the chair that Mainjaan is seeking to vacate.

Kitchen chatter, corridor whisperings, room rummaging, bending each other’s ears , all lead to one purpose. The privileged walk to the revered chair of the Sufi dynasty heir.

Thus all the plots, that the young and old hatch, are geared to feeding the sin of avarice. We covet, the moment we set eyes on what we see. Zaroon eyes, set on Sultanat, when he landed in his motherland. His eyes, instantaneously coveted her, andthat desire still grips him, to this moment in time. Family routine, and religious duties continue, but for Zaroon the very air he breathes, is Saltanat. I watch him groping for all possibilities that will bring him one step closer to Saltanat, despite her coming clean with him. Zaroon, I have to say has lady luck on his side. As his profitable liaison with Humza works rather dexterously to his advantage.

I do wonder if Humza ‘s love for Kainat is sincere? Or is he also getting ready to walk up the aisle to the prestigious and much coveted legacy seat ? See , I too am influenced by matters Dadi fills his mind up with, during their rapid tete- a- tete. Loved the way , when Dadi pretends she sees nothing, but learns about Zaroon and Humza 's agreement! Well! this will make things easier for her. I am sure she will wastes no time in promoting Humza and Kainat . So there is much activity around the very being of young Kainat..

The conversation between Zaroon and Humza, is more on the lines of you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours! Hamza has rather a lot of evidence to prove to Zaroon that he actually loves Kainat. That they share ahistory, going back to their childhood to present day.

I suspect , Zaroon carries within a guilt too, of rejecting a nice, good girl like Kainat. For Zaroon to stumble across the fact that a man right in the family is here who would love and protect Kainat.. is sheer luck! Nothing can be more easier than setting Kainat with Humza! This way Zaroon reckons,he can dither Saltanat’s focus from poorKainat to himself”

Masterstroke! Zaroon speculates, but one mistake he makes, like Mainjaan, who never checked if Zaroon agreed to marry Kainat . Similarly Zaroon too side-lines Kainat’s take about marrying Humza, In fact, I feel, Zaroon is conveniently shelving an important issue that Kainat has feelings for him.. So when Saltanat catches on to the goings between Zaroon and Humza, she can smell rat! She senses Zaroon is trying out a different game tactic!

Well ,Zaroon also aims to stop his parents from leaving. To do that, he should have a tangible solution. He reckons, has an idea, that can still make fortune smile at his father. What can be seen is how human beings, chop and change their strategies, to suit their needs; especially, when opportunities come by their way. Zaroon too, takes a detour in his drive to gain Saltanat . that is if things go well.

There is no stopping Zaroon! Rather craftily he influences the top man! Mainjaan too. Draws his attention upon setting up Kainat with Humza! complete with Kainat’s photo collage in Humza’s room as evidence! Zaroon plays his cards shrewdly .

Mainjaan motes the idea planted by Zaroon, with Zainab and Kainat…. Will the obedientKainat comply? Zainab’s hug for herdaughter.. is elusive, she may be relieved her daughter has agreed to marry. OrZainab’s hug may be to coerce Kainat to accept this new proposal? Or that she supports Kainat in rejecting Humza's proposal..

For me the episode shows, how family members try all options to resolve untoward challenges. Really predominantly, the episode revolves around settling one rejected daughter Kainat with another, other than Zaroon. Re-giggling and fixing the other daughter Saltanat's marriage to Zaroon. There is feeling though, that both men Zaroon and Humza seem to be seen as the ones who can provide the solutions. Both daughter’s of the household, yet again wait.. Regretfully not enough weight is given to what stand Saltanat has already adopted. Or if the meek Kainat will say I do ,to Humza ? Thing is Saltanati s right, when she says, that women are taken for granted! I don’t think Saltanat is some out right feminist. But I reckon she has a point too! women must have the right to reject and accept.

I also see, both Saltanat and Zaroon are at logger-heads. Where Saltanat, in principle has vowed to get Kainat married to Zaroon. Zaroon too, has now found his weapon to retaliate against Saltanat . To get Kainat hitched with Humza who he thinks will make a fine husband for Kainat . But what if Kainat turns Humza down? I wonder if Zaroon thought this one out?

If this happens Zaroon’s plan will backfire! Sultanat suspects Zaroon in setting up Humza / Kainat alliance to sabotage her.. we can but speculate about the outcome of Humza’s proposal . Knowing Kainat she may have declined. As she continues to hold faith that if Zaroon is meant for her, then god will give him to her.. 7.5.19 Hamlet53.

Kainaat says that she "loves" Zaroon because her elders chose him for her. Then, Humza is just as good. He has also been chosen by the same elder, who chose Zaroon. Plus she says God will decide for her. How can she know that Humza's proposal is not God's will, regardless of how it came to be?

Based on these two thought-processes, that are integral to her character/identity, she should accept Humza.

If Kainaat rejects Humza, she will be going against her elders and her God. Kainaat's character needs to grow a lot before the CVs can logically show such a radical change in the character.

I don't see any Sufiyana Pyar in this show - assuming it means love that pure, spiritual, transcendental, blessed by God. It is a bunch of selfish people running around claiming that their love is of the highest order.

you make a valid point here Irshita. in my humble view, Kainat if she agrees.. then its out of respect from her elder. If at all she rejects, then I think it will be on the basis, that she never really saw Humza in the light of seeing him as a love interest. Irshita, I assume, that she is a cousin, who she grew up, thus I can add that she knows him well.Where Zaroon is concerned, he comprises of a dream man she has conjured up in her mind, dashing bloke, who would take her breathe away! I think the fact that he and his family are coming to see, meet her, I,e that is after seeing her picture.. this promotes her dream of aspiring for him further. Now whether accepts her plea of love, for Zaroon; or Humza's dream of marrying Kainat ,is yet to be seen. They both can only wait for god's will..

Based on these two thought-processes, that are integral to her character/identity, she should accept Humza.

here I would say, depends on her faith. Kainat, perhaps needs to come to terms with the belief, that she cannot really dictate god.. but the feature that I have learnt about Kainat is her stubborn faith in god's will.. Irshita, I think today's episode will clarify things more for me..i.e her decision. But what of the fact that her heart is set on Zaroon, and not on Humza.. is he more like a brother figure?

If Kainaat rejects Humza, she will be going against her elders and her God. Kainaat's character needs to grow a lot before the CVs can logically show such a radical change in the character.

that is true Ishita, but what of her belief that god will surely grant her the man, she harbours sincere love for?

well said, in the final bit mate! should be called love.. getting one's way .. on one's own term. The characters, seem to put aside, the issues that Love is unselfish and also may require sacrifice! giving up may comprise fulfilment of love. Frankly , I wait for a bonding between the two cousin sisters. Thanks for your thoughts, may be Irshita the cv's wanted a conflict.. this episode, whips up one.. as you point out.

love hammie
