Six-Year-Old Wonder
By Jyothi VenkateshThis tiny tot who was the star attraction besides Hussain and Juhi Parmar in the TV serial Kumkum is just around six-year-old but a wiz-kid come to think of it.Master Ronak is the son of ad and documentary filmmaker Ravi Bhatia. "Actually my name is Hriday Bhatia but I prefer to call myself Master Ronak", quips Ronak. When asked why, he does not bat his eye-lid while answering as a matter of fact. "I want to keep Hriday Bhatia as my name when I make my debut as a leading man, like Hrithik uncle did with Kaho Na Pyar Hai."
Says Ravi Bhatia, who makes it a point to treat his son like a normal young kid instead of pampering him and making him a spoilt kid. "We agree to Ronak shooting for the serials only after he finishes attending his senior KG class in school. He generally attends school till twelve in the afternoon and then reports for the shoots. Luckily for him, his co-stars like Juhi Babbar, Hussain and Anuuj Saxena adjust their schedules according to his school timings. Ronak is brilliant is his class"
What is amazing about Ronak is that he is not at all scared when he has to do stunts as part of the serials in which he is working. In fact Ravi Bhatia confesses that as a father he is scared that Ronak looks forward to doing stunts like a through professional. Though there was no stunt sequence as far as Ronak was concerned in Aroona Irani's popular serial Tum Bin Jaaon Kahan, he performed dare devil stunt sequences in both the serials Kahin To Hoga and Kumkum.
Ravi elaborates his point. "In Kahin to Hoga, when word went round even Ekta Kapoor was surprised that the four-year-old Ronak participated in the fire sequence, which was quite a risky scene. In Kumkum, Ronak did not shy away or bat his eyelids when the director asked him to hang from a parapet, which was almost twenty feet above ground level. Everyone in the unit who saw it live while shooting and later on in the monitor appreciated the scene.
Though Ronak had to turn down a plum offer from Ekta Kapoor in the popular serial Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi because he couldn't afford to bunk his school and the dates clashed with the dates that he had given to Kumkum, Ronak has acted in a music video for a remix album.
Like his father Ravi Bhatia, who incidentally has just completed directing a short film called Kab Subah Hogi, which focuses on child labor, Ronak also is keen on taking up the mantle of a director when he grows up, besides acting that is.
