i too have the same doubt , there is only one possibility , maybe abir's father is a marwadi , thats why nanu is not opposing , because meenakshi and her husband had love marriage
I'm Gujarati. Almost all of the arranged marriages I know of in real life were arranged out of caste and out of culture. Wealthy Gujaratis tend to be a lot more open when it comes to marriage than wealthy punjabis for example; especially in smaller castes where beta thalessemia may run in the family.

So basically I am a Gujarati and my elder most cousin is married to a half Marwadi half Catholic and in fact, one of my closest family friend's sister (who is also Gujarati) engaged to be married to a Muslim.
And these were both arranged alliances, where in the latter came from my mom-dad.So I am guessing it is more or less okay!Or like y'all said, it could be Abir's dad being a Marwadi. Quite possible.

Why not if family is good boy/girl is good then intercaste marriage is okay..Religion shouldn't be any barrier ever..Its all man made and I am glad they arent highlighting this culture difference thing now
