There was hardly any doubt in any one's mind about Anand L Rai and Kangana Ranaut's talent, but the truly re-instated faith with Tanu Weds Manu.

It was not just the top-notch performances that made the film a refreshing watch but also the way it navigated modern relationships, whether it was between parents and children, friends or even partners.

Here are a few reasons why Tanu Weds Manu is a supremely relatable film for every millennial out there

The Heart Wants What It Wants

Tanu's character in the film is probably unlike any other Bollywood heroine' that we have ever seen on the screen. She smokes, she drinks, she is volatile and indecisive and above all totally unapologetic about it. She is the kind of girl who would get a tattoo of her boyfriend's name on her chest, only to soon fall for someone else. This was one of a kind film where all these traits did not make her vamp' but instead a really flawed human being that all of us could relate to.

The Rebel Against Arranged Marriage

The movie is a very clever take on modern arranged marriages. Yes, it is true that our generation cannot fathom parents choosing their life partners for them and thus the common response to arranged marriages is that of rebel. But the film also delved into another side of the coin where it showed that sometimes we reject someone, no matter how perfect they are for us, simply because it was our parents who chose them and going with that feels kinda uncool'.

Knowing Who Is The One'

Ah! That elusive chase to find the one' that makes us feel so close to Ted Mosby. But the ultimate question remains that how do you know who is the one'? Tanu's inability to decide and constantly change her mind about Raja and Manu is extremely relatable for every millennial who is still on this grand quest to find the one'.

The Joint Of Bonding

Apart from Tanu weds Manu, one can hardly remember another film where two girls are shown lighting up a joint very casually and discussing men over it. While substance abuse should never be glorified or encouraged, it was very refreshing to see a mainstream Bollywood film addressing this very common occurrence that too with two girls who are not shown to be anti-social. Breaking so many norms with one scene is incredibly rare.

Looking For Acceptance For Who We Are

Once again, coming to Tanu's character, it was unbelievable to this see undisputedly flawed and volatile character being so delightfully unapologetic. Whether we are a wreck, a little volatile and refuse to play by the norm of the world and do not care about what people have to say. But, all of us probably, just like Tanu, are looking for that one person who lets us be and loves us with our flaws and without an intention to fix' us.
