Keep Meera in - even for a couple of epis (till 'the newbies have settled in') - and fans will keep on coming, if only to support Meera this way. This means, TRP will remain at least within acceptable levels. Clever thinking on the part of producers...

For us, fans, definitely, a torture to see Meera in this state 😡
