Nandhini is the antagonist in Ponniyin Selvan novel. As per the author she was far most beautiful women in chola kingdom. Her beauty is so exquisite that men fall for her even at a single glance,which changed the course of novel at many levels. for example.,
- Pazhuvetiyar,loyal subject of Cholakingdom, helped her to plot against the princes
- Kandhamaran, good friend of Vanthiyadevan, misunderstood him based on the accusations from Nandhini and developed rage against Vanthiyadevan
- Parthibenthiran Pallavan, very good friend of Adithya karigalan who sweared Nandhini on hearing the flashback story between Adithya Karigalan and Nandhini, fell for her the instant he saw her and pledged his loyalty to her.
and so on..
In my point of view, Vanthiyadevan is the only character that understood her true self and stayed away from her fatal attraction.
Interestingly our another protoganist Arulmozhi Varman didn't meet Nadhini in person (in adult age).
Author portrayed Nandhini as exquisite beauty and very cunning at first. Her back story revels that she is a lonely girl grown yearned for love and care and was emotionally forced to play a key in the schemes of pandiyas against cholas. Author portrayed Nandhini's character brilliantly such that readers feel pity when she leaves the plot in fifth chapter.

She is potrayed as a most beautiful women in the whole novel.
She came to take revenge Adhitya Karikalan for the death of her lover.
Almost all male characters in the novel who saw her fell in love with her,except vandhiyadevan and Arulmozhi varman.
Her only weapon is her beauty,by using that she almost destroyed the chola kingdom.
According to me,she is the most tragic character in the novel.
The whole story is naratted from the side of chola.But cholas and pandyas are enemies.From her point of view, Karikalan killed her lover,it's normal for her to take revenge.she married pazhuvetayan an old man inorder to execute her plans.
she is the perfect example that women can do anything even built the kingdom or destroy it.
