Anand L Rai on ZERO's failure

Zero, directed by Aanand L Rai starred Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. The film released on December 21 last year.

Aanand L Rai and Shah Rukh Khan collaborated for the first time for Zero. The film also starred Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. The audience had a lot of expectations from Rai and SRK's films. In the film, SRK played the role of a vertically challenged man Bauua Singh. Anushka Sharma was seen as a scientist Aafia and Katrina played the role of an actress called Babita Kumari. The trailer received a lot of positive response. Zero hit the screens on December 21 last year and received mixed reviews. While the performances of all the three actors were praised, the second half of the film left a lot of them disappointed.

While talking to PTI, Aanand L Rai was asked about Zero's failure. The director said, "I won't say I am disappointed. I will need to understand (what went wrong). This is the story I wanted to say and I made it. After making Ranjhaanaa and Tanu Weds Manu and the second one, this film (Zero) was due for me to make. To take a certain flight and I have not landed on it properly."

He added, "It is a learning and it will help me grow as a director. I am not afraid to take risks and experiment."

The film has proved lucky for Katrina Kaif as many called her act of Babita Kumari as one of her best performances so far.

Zero had special appearances by many celebs like Salman Khan, Kajol, Deepika Padukone, Karisma Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Alia Bhatt, Juhi Chawla and late actress Sridevi.
