He walked her to her auto when she was done. Surprised she did not drive up but didn't ask any questions. He seemed in a better mood in his house. Spoke a little about how he was unable to keep up with the changing landscape of doing business with overseas partners

Toast lay by her on the floor and snoozed and every time she put a binder away or picked up another one from the stack he woke up to see if she was still around

She was on edge the whole time

Growling first and then barking loudly as she wore her shoes back

"Umm.. yeah... I know its an obvious name I guess he tickled the dog's neck

One thing led to another and she found herself in the middle of digging into ALL 7 years of his company's existence much to Rohan's chagrin

"There were no red flags?

"Umm.. I am sorry but no, The last 2 years were pure loss years so I looked at last 3 years, but looks like most of the seven nearly 5 years of the company's existence has been out of shape

"Is he cooperating? Extending the search digging into it, is going to take months if not a year

"I know that I asked him, he shared some incorporation documents, there was a partner in the beginning two years, two in fact, his brother and his Dad, after year 3 there is nobody, starting year 5 things have started to go bad

"So they picked up his slack the first 3?

She nodded tentatively

"Yes? No? Maybe?

"Umm... I am not sure yet what role each person played, but the first 4ish years they seemed to have been posting some profit... infact very good profit

"Get them altogether and try and figure it out

"I asked for a meeting he said he will not be able to bring them on board

She nodded

The last 3.5 weeks were torture for her, between working on the other 5 accounts 2 bouts of acidity and and trying to unravel the mystery of EUR-AMR decline

"I can call him tonight, I have a client level meeting, u know the quarterly review thing

She nodded

"Lets just wrap this one up Sumidha he was irritable

"Let the guy come out with it, figure out where the gaps are be very prescriptive lets watch him deploy our actions for 6 weeks, and then 3 months... If u have a better idea, let me know

Well, he would get nothing that nite as Avyaan was absent from his quarterly meeting, returning to work the next day asking her to go to NOIDA to meet Avyaan in person

"The woman I was going to marry dumped me he said his tone revealing not so suppressed rage

"You let everything spiral down she said objectively

"I did... I have struggled to stay focused

Her shoulders relaxed when he didn't argue

"Did u get help?

"Umm.. yes he lied

"We can work on a restructuring plan

"I agree, this is not therapy he scorned

"I am just trying to make sense and help out. Stern is committed to getting to the root cause and helping clients succeed

He got up instantly

"We can set up sometime with Rohan to review, our recovery is spread between 6 weeks to 6 months

She listed out the five big things she had proposed to Rohan last week

"No my government liaising team does not need to be looked at

"I would rather review this with Rohan present she declared a lil irritated

"I don't pay your company to tell me half the people I employ don't know what they are doing

"You were about to dive into importing electronic parts for automotive use. But I noticed you canceled those negotiations mid way

She was throwing every embarrassing event of his professional life under a floodlight now. His fogged up brain relied on anger

"I thought I told you how or what happened

"U did, but that deal was really profitable... or could have been

"Umm... At the risk of sound sappy... Have u... umm.. do u care about anyone beyond your work? bitingly ...he got personal

She stiffened and swallowed, a flood of color rushing to her face

"Umm... I apologize... never mind he mumbled gruffly, ashamed "No dont answer that"

"I have Mr Singh... I lost my husband 4 ish years ago in Mizoram during a covert nightly operation she fought back tears

He looked like a train had just struck him

She composed herself quickly losing the drops of tears

"I am sorry if I sound like or look like I don't sympathize with your situation she said coolly

"Uh he struggled to speak

"Between refusing the automotive parts because of losing the line of credit with the bank and ending of contract with the 4 Everest Spices, ITC Foods and Dabur and umm... (forgets name) you have effectively lost over Rs.144 lakhs. She said "I am sorry she said perfunctorily

He exhaled audibly

She got up politely and waved
