DEM 8th week Review

Pros

1) Salim saving banjaras and anarkali

Last week anarkali left taking Nur Muhammad far away in jungle saying she knows Salim so that the banjaras life is safe. If Salim was alone he could handle Nur Muhammad and the commander alone. But with so many banjaras that too women and kids its like risking their life if Salim reveals his identity and a fight ensues. The mughal commander and Nur Muhammad has got a duplicate royal seal to fool people into thinking Akbar has banned Diwali. The mughal commander is a stooge of nur muhammad and wants to find who is Salim among banjaras. Salim anyways saves the banjaras from the commanders torture and he hardly sheds any blood. Just his identity moves all rebel soldiers into submission. A good man is one who uses his power to help those in need and those less fortunate than him. Salim has learnt that his name and identity spells terror in not only agra market looters but even mughal army soldiers. Thats why he orders them to submit to him by throwing their weapons lest they have to face action for disobeying or attcking him.

Salim leaves to save anarkali from Nur Muhammad to save anarkali despite Fazl wanting to send soldiers. Here i doo not see Fazls logic, even if the kidnapped person was not anarkali Salim is duty bound to save because she has risked his life for him and banjaras. And when it comes to love of his life and childhood friend Salim gets ruthless is displayed already last week when he killed 20 goons to save her. Anarkali has become like breathe for him without which he may not live. When a person loves a lover so much the future bhagawat against mughal empire is justified and understandable.

2) Courtroom argument- Salim-Fazl

When Afghani is got to the courtroom and fazl demands death and Akbar wants to give death to the traitor a humane and softer side of Salim emerges. Afghani had tried to kill anarkali and him a few hours back, but yet Salim defends the right to his life. A great king is someone who can not only punish ruthlessly but forgive too and be humane in his judgement. Salim displays his humane forgiving side in court much to dismay of Fazl and Akbar. Salims argument that "Punishment should be appropriate to crime and when criminal is given a big punishment for small crime a hatred develops in his heart against the judge and system that leads to revolting future" is a universal truth.

When the french queen insensitively said "Eat cake if citizens do not have bread" Led to a french revoltion. Even the biggest enemy will respect you if you treat them humanely and justly. Salim has realized this truth at this young age is a commendable thing, shows his maturity and ability to understand humane psychology. But world especially those in power do not truly agree with his views will be known to him when his family will oppose his choice of anarkali as his wife. Fazl thinks salim is used to breaking rules from childhood and does not realize the thought behind him not wanting Afghanis death.

3) Mahabhat the traitor

The most shocking revelation was that the royal seal was found in Mahabhat room. Salim was in great shock and almost was in tears knowing his friend betrayed him. Mahabhat had joined traitors to take revenge of his fathers death by Akbars army. It is shocking for a sensitive person like Salim who loves his friends whole heartedly that Mahabhat has betrayed him and mughal empire. Hopefully the misunderstanding clears and Mahabhat is proved innocent. Mahabhat is only person who has supported him in all his endevours since childhood. To lose this best friend will be like losing a right hand for Salim.

Cons

1) Man Bai entry

Salim wants to speak to Akbar and Jodha about his marraige to anarkali. But before he does that his mother and father have decided to marry him to Maan bai. Now that the family kamarband gifted by Salim to anarkali has gone into Ruqaiahs hand lets see whom it will go too. Will she give it to Maan bai or to someone else? Will salim agree to marry Maan bai? What will happen to anarkali and his love?

Ideally it would be preferable that Man bai was introduced after anarkalis death or after bhagawat.

He had a problem with ghungaroo because it implies something, he clearly said that! She is a KANEEZ at his place and if she dances in a gathering like this it has so many negative connotations! Her dancing for leisure does not have negative connotations! I liked how when she reminded him he didn't even exactly bother to apologise 😆, men became politically correct much later in life and that is the harsh truth! He told her point blank what he felt and that was that! It was kind of cute keeping the context in mind!

Nicely analysed.

In this Banjara track , I only liked Khar Khar khanam.His comic timing are fab.Other then that I also liked Salima's and Salim's convo.

Coming to cons

There was no need for SAnar to stay with Banjaras for so long.

I didn't like Salim cooking session.Pakau !!

DEM 7th week Review

Pros of week

1) Salima- salim talk: Salims life is filled with family members who hate him or speak sweet in front and backstab him behind. Those who hate him openly are like Murad and Daniyal, salim knows they hate him and want to harm him. Those who sweet talk and back stab him behind are Ruqaiah, Hamida and even Abul Fazl.

Than there is Akbar who were are not truly sure whether he loves or hates Salim. In psychology there are opedius complex and father complex that children can have. In this case even Akbar has that complex. Akbar and Salim have this complex relationship where both may love each other but when they are physically in front of each other they never acknowledge any love for each other. Whenever both are together there is this tension between them both in way they react and their body languages. They may try to remove this tension sometimes like Akbar crowning Salim with his own crown or Salim in market telling Mahabhat to take care of Akbar and stay with him, just observe Akbars face in that scene its of surprise and shock.

In midst of such hostility Salim is surprised that Salima came to speak to him on Diwali festival. Because for Salim his home was the place he felt most insecure and unsafe from childhood as family members always attempted on his life. Except his mother and anarkali not even Akbar has bothered to show him that love and care which he wanted from childhood. Thats why Salim got emotional in market when Akbar told today we are father and son not emperor and prince. Apart from his mom and anarkali it is only Mahabhat he can trust completely and also tell his most deep thoughts. So Salims in shock when Salima says shes happy he came back, this lonely walls of palace felt like home to Salima because Salim came back. Salim got so emotional that tears filled his eyes, that someone else too cared and loved him like his own mom.

2) The second scene of week was Salim killing 20 kidnappers to save anarkalis life. We had always heard Salim was a great warrior and had spent 12 years in war field. But honesttly till date no one had any idea about Salims soldier capability, but the way he decimated 20 kidnappers to save anarkali proved that he truly was a great warrior. And when time required could left go off his innocent mamas boy aura and lover boy tag to save his loved ones or in future the empire or citizens.

3) Khanam comedy: Khanam was till now a dreaded villan who just follows Ruqaiahs orders. But an outing in banjara basti has brought out the comedian in him though his antics sometimes go over the top. The comedy suits Khanam better than being henchman of Ruqaiah honestly.

Cons of week

1) Salim went alone to rescue anarkali after getting to know that shes kidnapped. Why did Akbar not send soldiers behind? Fine salim is a great warrior but in case he getsc injured in fight etc how will he come back?

2) Salim wants to spend night in banjara basti but that could risk his life. He knows enemies, family all want him dead yet he risks staying back in banjara basti just to spend a night with anarkali. Is that not irresponsibility of a crown prince. If hes kidnapped Akbar will be blackmailed why risk it?

3) Khanam was standing in front when Salim comes and tells mughal commander not to hit that mukhiya guy and gets hit himself. Did not salim or anarkali see Khanam there?

4) The basti is in agra not away, how come mughal soldiers allowed that bahgi nur muhammad to come inside agra with his hencemen?

5) Salim loses hath ka panja fight why and how not explained

6) Salim cooking was gross. That too such good cooking rice and roti and veggies etc how can a prince whose never cooked in life cook so well?

7) Anarkali dance - Salim slapped anar for dancing on kanha birthday in front of all women only but is fine with her dance in banjara basti in front of men. Either he must be fine with her dance or not

8) Salim killed 20 men of nur muhamad and Salim defeated nur muhammad in war yet that guy cannot recognize Salim

9) Nur muhammad never asked anarkali why salim gave his ring to her?

Nice analysis. What I hv observed from last week episodes is that the pace of show has reduced for good and it is a welcome change. Now I really hope they make upcoming manna bai track interesting and trp increases. I atleast wantaround 2 trp because actors deserve it.
