They left the friendship angle till the last minute so it looked rushed and unconvincing, especially Porus' side. Until episode 248 I could not even picture how those two could become friends.
The reason is that they made the story less about Alexander's conquest of Bharat and more about his enmity with Porus. It became a personal thing, which was monotonous after a point and left little room for a genuine reconciliation. What we saw in the penultimate episode was a contrived scene the CVs came up with because they wanted to show a traditional ending. Instead of gradually working their way towards it over several episodes they took a big bang approach.

I feel as if they had meant to show Porus winning until they came up with the idea of the CGM show. So for business and "creative" reasons they changed the outcome. Otherwise they would not have made Porus take all those oaths.

I know Aarti is a tradition but it was not necessary to show that. They went overboard. It just seemed out of place and wrong, considering both Porus and Laachi were orphaned because of Alexander's conquest.

Porus was never going to win. From first they had synopsis of Alexander winning on Sony Liv...I had already posted here many times...

Even if the synopsis said that, I think SidT wanted to go a different route but changed plans again.
