The male star of the year is...

I agree with cricket fan and Shaitan, that not Ranbir or Ranveer or Raj Kumar Rao. But this year the biggest male achiever has been Ayushmann Khurana.

Nothing against others, Ranbir gave an outstanding performance and might end up giving the HGOTY, Ranveer might end up giving two back to back BB and was the best thing about Padmavat, and Raj Kumar was the on whose shoulder rode one of the most heart warming success story of the year.

But Ayushmann gave two BB/SH of two very different genres. Both running in the theaters at the same time, and both doing great BO collection.

In this year of content winning over star power and aggressive marketing, Ayushmann has become the biggest winner and rightfully the representative of the content.

I agree. Special mention to Kartik Aaryan and John Abraham.

Ayushmann is excellent but one tone. Ranveer is good but overexcited. Vicky is brilliant but not star material. Rao was great but same as ayushmann and vicky. He did same thing earlier as well.

I am not talking about who should win Film Fare, that award is too corrupted that I don't even give a damn about it(unless my fab wins it btw).

I am talking about the star who will represent this year, a year when content has been the biggest king.

Ayushmann didn't had the backing of trade hype, media hype, social media hype, big budget and a top commercial director, which both Ranbir and Ranveer had.

He had two low budget movies with not much hype and fanfare, one was one of the worst performing genres in India and another had a very uncomfortable topic and despite that all odds, both movies are now running for weeks and also running together. And these are not just mere success stories, they are blockbusters and super hits.
No doubt Ranbir did a great job, but Ayushmann did something against much odds.

what people do not realize is that playing the role of a living person who is still working and is fresh in the mind of the audience is one of the toughest roles to do...Ranbir had no wiggle room...He had no choice to make the character his own or give his own touch...Hirani may be an ace director but unless he had an ace actor to match his vision the movie would have fallen flat on its face...that most of the people saw SD in the movie proves what an amazing actor Biru is.

i do agree that khurana aced all his performances and his movies were TOP...the content is the king after all.

but lets not take it away from Ranbir. given the title sanju, damn i was so skeptical about this movie and performance of ranbir.

but when an actor comes and washes all your doubts and gives a stunning performance i see him as a male of the yr, and that too in a big movie.

i don't think this was hirani's best movie, i felt this was his weakest, but what took this otherwise ok movie to another level, the performances, not only ranbir's but vicky also

Ranbir had backing of everything.
